Hello and welcome to Pelvic Waves.
This practice is going to bring some more awareness and gentle movement to the pelvic area of our bodies.
This area is very sacred,
Very feminine.
We hold a lot of power and a lot of sensuality here in the pelvis and in the hips.
It can feel really nice to move this part of our bodies,
To smooth out the motions in this area,
Release any tension or stuck energy or sensations,
Any uptightedness.
It allows us to flow a little bit more into our fluidity.
Throughout this practice we're going to be moving with the imagery of water and waves and we're going to be undulating the pelvis.
So this practice can be done in any plane of motion,
In any position that feels accessible and comfortable for you.
And if you return to this practice multiple times you can always change the positioning of your body.
You could do this seated on a chair,
On the floor,
You could do it sitting on your knees with your knees together or apart,
You could do it standing on your back with your knees bent.
It really can be done in many different orientations of the body.
If you're a bit lost of where to start,
Perhaps just start in a comfortable seated position or begin in my favorite option which is on my knees with my knees apart,
Roughly hip distance or slightly wider than hip distance.
So finding your comfortable starting position and taking as much time as you need to adjust your body.
And when you are ready we're going to begin to undulate the pelvis,
Tilting it anteriorly and posteriorly.
And to find this movement within your body,
Imagine that your pelvic bowl is an actual bowl containing really beautiful water.
And you want to move from tipping water just gently out of the bowl at the front of the bowl and then moving in the opposite direction and tipping some water out at the very back of the bowl.
So tipping a little bit of this pure water at the front of your body and then tilting backwards and tipping some water at the back of your body.
And once you find this motion continuing to move in this way and allowing yourself to breathe,
Perhaps you would like to start slow and fluid,
Breathing deeply in through the nose and out through the mouth.
And as you begin to move here,
Tuning into the sensations that are arising for you today.
And allow it to feel good,
Allow it to feel sweet.
And then as this motion becomes more familiar to your body,
You can start to play with the pace.
So you may like to continue moving slow and fluidly or perhaps you'll want to experiment with moving faster,
More rapidly,
Back and forth.
If you're moving slowly maybe you want to move with your breath,
So the inhale as you tilt your pelvis in one direction and then exhaling as you tilt in the other direction.
There's really no right or wrong way to do this.
There's no hierarchy of which pace is better or if it's better to move in a more big exaggerated motion or a more small contained motion.
It's really about feeling into the information that is arising from your body,
From this movement.
Our soft sensuality practices are really about following the sensations that feel good,
That feel pleasant.
And if there isn't any kind of pleasant sensation that's okay.
Maybe you would like to adjust or experiment in a different position.
Maybe you need to go smaller,
Slower.
Maybe you need to go bigger,
Faster.
Maybe a chair would be useful today.
The practice doesn't need to look a certain way.
You don't need to achieve anything.
It's just simply about creating some movement and some rhythm in the body and in the hips,
In the pelvis.
There's the invitation to maybe take one hand to the back of your body on your sacrum,
Which is that area of the body where your lower back and your pelvis connect.
And this may help you to tune into the motion.
I like to place one palm here and then one palm on my heart.
I find it helps me to contain the motion to my hips and also just connect with my heart center and my softness while my hips sensually move.
You may like to experiment with smoothening out the movement.
So it's almost like your body begins to rock back and forth in space as your pelvis is also tilting forward and back.
And this will create more of a wave-like movement through the pelvis.
And take your time to explore this more smooth wave motion through the pelvis.
It doesn't always come quickly or naturally.
It's something to just play with.
Again,
Follow what feels nice,
What feels good.
If any sound is arising that you would like to make,
Perhaps letting yourself sigh or express the sensations that you're feeling with your voice.
This is a vulnerable position,
A vulnerable movement.
The hips are a very tender,
Emotional location in our anatomy.
So you're welcome to stop at any time or to have a break.
But otherwise just allow it to feel good.
And we're going to continue with this rocking wave-like motion throughout our pelvis for a few more moments,
A few more breaths.
From this movement we're going to start to spiral the hips.
So when it feels right you can start to circle your hips in one direction.
Almost like your hips,
Your tailbone is stirring something really sweet like melted honey.
And this will stir out the sensation.
Perhaps even your spine begins to move.
And see if you can spread this pleasurable feeling out into the rest of your body,
Up the spine,
Out through the limbs.
Using the spiral of your hips to spread the sensation and then using your breath and your awareness to amplify the sensation.
Allowing this life force energy to ripple out like waves in the ocean.
Allowing it to unfold,
Allowing it to intensify.
And then when you're ready you can stir your hips in the opposite direction.
Circles and spirals are very feminine ways to move and they really connect us back to this fluid feminine energy that we don't often experience in our day-to-day life.
And when you're ready you can slowly bring this circling spiraling motion to a gentle pause.
And allow yourself to simply be,
To simply breathe and to rest in the pleasure and the sensations that you have moved and you have stirred throughout your body.
Bathing in the gentle lapping waves of sensuality,
Rippling through the tissues and the energetic pathways of your body.
Sometimes pleasure is something that we rush through and it's nice to sometimes just allow ourselves to sit with it and allow it to be felt.
If this practice felt really nice you can continue moving in this way.
Otherwise when you're ready you can reorientate to your environment.
You may like to get up and dance or you may like to lay down and relax and move forward into your day as the embodiment of sensuality.
