Resting in the back of the heart Because having a highly sensitive soul can be a lot sometimes And though we may be tempted to close our weary hearts To put walls up around the softest parts of ourselves May we learn to rest instead And so I invite you to take a moment To rest in all that is tender within you Wherever you are,
Perhaps starting by noticing the breath There's no need to change it But rather just feel the air rushing past your nostrils The belly and the chest rising and falling This is your little bit of time to be in devotion to your softness So position yourself in a way that makes you feel 5% more comfortable where you are Maybe you soften your gaze or close down your eyes Maybe you sink into stillness Or perhaps gentle movement feels supportive today We are simply taking a moment,
A pause To bathe in all that is beautiful within us And give that beauty that we so often give to others,
Back to ourselves I invite you now to bring the palm of one hand to your heart Taking a long,
Slow,
Deep breath in And releasing the breath however feels right Whether that's softly through the nose or a big sigh out Maybe applying a gentle pressure to your heart centre A gesture of softness and tenderness towards yourself So often we live being pulled forward Extending ourselves outward Being so activated at the front of our body Maybe you can feel that within you right now You may like to rub gentle circles over your heart Inviting softness into the front of your body Bringing your awareness now to the back of the body The back of the heart You may even like to press a little bit on your heart To give permission to your body to sink back a little deeper Coming back to the breath I invite you to use your breath,
Your exhalation To soften the soft tissue,
The musculature The structures that surround and protect your heart Softening the right shoulder The right arm The left shoulder The left arm Softening the collarbones and the front of your chest Softening the neck and the back of the body Allowing everything to simply rest Allowing yourself to rest here,
In the back of your beautiful heart Because it's so beautiful How you've been blessed with this permeable heart This tender skin Please make time for the words carried in the wind to brush against your face For the space to massage your tired hands To allow all the poetry in your fascia to melt from your eyes and drip beauty across your lips May you remember to sway to the rhythm of the butterfly wings tapping on your chest And sigh in relief when your thighs kiss the earth May you never lose all the waves of elegiac and evocative sensation that arise when you look up at the sky May you find rest in this constant yearning for deeper,
Deeper,
Deeper May you see it as the most gorgeous,
Glowing,
Glorious trait of your highly sensitive soul May you continue to make love to the earth and find an embrace in every mountain range May you worship all that is soft about you And most importantly,
Even though sometimes it may be painful May you remember that nothing is ever a good enough reason to close your heart Perhaps allowing these words to sink in a little bit deeper as you rest here in the back of your heart And whenever you're ready,
You can slowly come back to the body,
Noticing the sensation Noticing the breath When it feels right and it doesn't have to be now You can flutter your eyelids open Gazing first down at the earth And then slowly looking up and out at the world With all the poetic beauty that you see in it The same beauty that lives within you
