Hello and welcome to this insightful meditation that will explore the root of your happiness.
My name is Wana and I am so delighted to have you here with me.
Let's begin by getting settled into the here and now.
Go ahead and find yourself a posture that you can comfortably maintain for the next little while.
Close your eyes and take a big breath in and on your exhale,
Allow everything to loosen and relax,
Letting everything that came before go.
As you enter this present moment more fully,
Allow your shoulders to drop,
Soften your jaw and your face and take a few deep conscious breaths,
Imagining your inhale as a gentle and slow ocean wave coming into shore and your out breath as that same wave retreating back out.
When your thoughts intrude,
Such as planning or remembering as they naturally will,
Just return back to that visual of your ocean breath rolling in and out.
Continue to follow those waves steadily and peacefully,
Allowing your breath to just ebb and flow like you're sitting back on a beach and watching the shoreline.
As you rest in this peaceful state,
I'd like you to bring to mind all the people,
Places and things that bring you happiness.
From your closest friends and dear family members to your career and home,
All the way to your hobbies and the vacations you love so much to go on.
Allow these thoughts to fill you up with joy.
Where do you experience this feeling of happiness?
Is it a full body sensation or is it contained in one area of your body,
Such as your belly or heart?
How does this happiness feel like?
Notice how you've created these positive feelings within you without having to actually have these physical things in front of you.
In other words,
Merely through the power of thought that you have summoned forth.
Reflect on the idea that perhaps you hold the power to cultivate these feelings inside of you at your own will.
Next,
Contemplate all the things that you thought would make you happy but ultimately only fulfilled you for a little while.
Before you were already feeling satisfied with the next accomplishment.
Many of us are rushing from point A to B,
But soon after we get there,
We find ourselves already yearning for point C.
Constantly stuck in this perpetual state of momentary fleeting satisfaction amidst long stretches of dissatisfaction as we aim for our next goalpost of life.
Only to get there,
Celebrate for a little bit before we hurry on to the next on a never ending list of to-dos.
Did you ever stop and think that perhaps happiness isn't so much getting what you want,
But rather in the joy of the journey?
That perhaps,
As spiritual teacher Abraham Hicks so wisely puts it,
There is no happy ending to an unhappy journey?
Take a few deep breaths to soak that in for a moment.
There is no happy ending to an unhappy journey.
Can you recall any times in your life where you finally got what you wanted,
But only found that it really didn't fulfill you?
And if so,
How can you make your current journey to wherever you think you are headed more joyous?
You see,
The root of happiness is in the journey and not so much the destination.
So ask yourself,
How can I make my journey through life a little more joyful?
Cultivate happiness within me despite all my goals not being accomplished.
Go ahead and soak in your own inner wisdom and guidance for these next few moments.
And on that reflection,
We end our meditation.
We will now transition out.
So slowly bring your awareness out of your head and back into your body.
Feel your earth to ground connection.
Wiggle your fingers,
Then your toes,
And slowly flutter open your eyes.
Thank you for joining me on this inward journey of self-reflection.
It's always such an honor to guide you.
As always,
Let me know how your journey went and follow along for more to come.
I hope to have you join me again soon.
