This practice focuses on the earth and how it can support and hold us, give us strength and foundation and how, deep in its darkness, the most beautiful jewels are formed: DIAMONDS, with their unmatched brilliance and light, reminding us that the most beautiful things can come out of the unknown darkness, both in the earth and in ourselves. I hope you enjoy it.

Welcome to this practice of Yoga Nidra.
Take some time now to settle in to your Nidra nest,
Really taking time to build a little cocoon of comfort.
Bringing blankets,
Pillows,
Bolsters and just build yourself a little space where you can really get comfortable.
And just when you feel that you're at your most comfortable,
Maybe just give yourself a little movement,
See where you might be able to go that little bit deeper still.
And remember with Nidra you don't need to know anything to get the full benefit of the practice,
Just to be here is enough and know that you are very,
Very welcome here,
Just the way you are.
And through the practice you'll be guided by this voice but if for any reason you wish to let go of this voice at any time then just trust yourself,
Trust your intuition and you might want to make a resolve now to stay awake through the practice knowing that with the practice of yoga Nidra your body will sleep but your mind has the opportunity to stay alert and awake but if at any point you feel yourself falling to sleep don't fight it,
Let your body decide what it needs today.
This is your practice so take what you need and leave what you don't and take agency with your practice,
Really listen to your intuition,
Your inner teacher,
Trust yourself fully.
So as you're settling here take some time now to become aware of this space that your body is in,
Maybe as you close your eyes if they're not already closed or lower your gaze just take some time to imagine your body lying here in this space.
In your mind's eye see the space your body is in and perhaps the walls,
The floor and the ceiling and just see your body resting here taking this precious time for yourself.
And maybe you can hear some sounds around you,
Maybe not only the sound of this voice but maybe there are sounds externally,
Perhaps workmen or children playing or maybe birdsong.
And maybe closer to you you could hear the sound of your own breath inside your body moving in and out of your body with ease.
And just be aware of these sounds,
The sounds furthest away from you and the sounds closest to you and without any engagement just observe.
And perhaps now become aware of the sensations of the parts of your body which are covered by blankets or by clothes and those parts of the body which remain open to the air.
And feel the air as it meets your body and your skin.
And then observe the places where you are wrapped and warm,
Contained and held.
And again without any engagement just observe the difference between these two states.
And as you settle further into the ground beneath you,
The ground,
The earth that's rising up to meet you and hold you so you can fully let go.
Breathing deep into your body now,
Start to soften,
Letting go of all tension in your face,
Feel your forehead softening,
Your jaw,
Your tongue lying loosely in the back of your mouth,
Your teeth softening,
Everything softening,
Everything softening.
And start to lengthen your exhale now,
Taking your breath deep into your belly maybe bring in a count,
Perhaps breathing in for a count of four,
And exhaling to six.
Breathing deep into your belly and you might like to hold your breath after the inhale,
Perhaps for a count of two,
And then exhale again to the count of six.
Inhale for four,
Hold for two,
Exhale for six.
Breathing in deeply and richly into your belly and your whole body for four,
Holding the breath at the top for two,
And emptying all your lungs for the count of six.
Continue in your own time with your own breath,
Softening and letting go with each and every breath.
And maybe count down now from ten to zero,
One inhale and one exhale,
Counting as ten,
And as you go further still,
Layer by layer,
Release and just let go,
Knowing you're being held and supported by the earth with all its wisdom.
And know that this earth that your body is lying on,
Our planet,
Which is over 4.
5 billion years old,
Is continually spinning and continually moving,
Yet is always here for you to give you grounding,
Stability,
Support and a strong foundation.
And know that under your body,
Your body lying rested here on the earth,
There are numerous layers all moving and interacting with each other all the time in perfect harmony to enable life to be.
And travelling through the layers of this wondrous planet,
Deeper down towards the core at the centre of the earth,
Where we find the liquid outer core,
And then the solid inner core,
The outer core moving around the inner core,
Giving the earth a magnetic field to protect against particles from the cosmos,
Like your own inner core,
A place which is the very essence of your being,
Your centre,
Wherever you feel that to be.
Take some time now to feel where this place is in your body,
Your inner core,
Your inner resource,
Your home within yourself,
The place that has always been and which always will be.
And abide there now,
Welcoming your body home.
Also,
Deep within the earth,
Miles beneath where you are lying,
Where gases and minerals abide in abundance,
Mixing with differing temperatures and pressures,
In this dark and mysterious place,
The most precious of jewels are created.
Deep within the darkness of the earth,
As carbon atoms bond together,
The most beautiful of stones are formed.
Some in a matter of days,
Others take millions,
Even billions of years to materialise,
But all are utterly perfect.
These beautiful stones created deep within the earth,
Which once brought to the surface,
Capture light in their form with an unmatched brilliance.
These glorious diamonds from the rough.
And you could alight yourself to a diamond.
You are,
After all,
A unique creation made in the darkness of the unknown,
Bringing your own light of unmatched brilliance to the world.
And you might consider what might help you shine just a little bit brighter.
What attribute or quality could you invite into your life that would help you shine just that little bit brighter?
So now make your Sancalpa.
Avow to yourself to enable this quality,
This feeling to come into your life.
Gaze into your own mysterious darkness within and wait for your Sancalpa to reveal itself to you.
Wait for it to appear,
Mined like a precious diamond from the earth.
Your heartfelt desire,
Your deepest intention,
What your soul yearns for.
What would help you fully live your one wild and precious life?
And once your Sancalpa is clear,
Create a short positive statement starting with the words,
I am,
And repeat it to yourself silently and wholeheartedly three times.
Perhaps you're looking for more rest and relaxation in your life.
If this were to be your Sancalpa,
You might say,
I am well rested.
I allow myself deep rest and relaxation to fully be in joy in all aspects of my life.
And if nothing comes today,
That's fine.
Just stay resting with your inner resource,
Your home within yourself,
Knowing your own unique light shines with unmatched brilliance as only you can.
And in your mind's eye now,
See in the warm darkness of the earth that lays underneath you,
Supporting and holding you.
See the tiny glitters of light from the diamonds that are being created beneath you.
And see one of these diamonds now drop into your hand and hold it there.
The beauty of the earth itself.
Light from the darkness laying in the palm of your hand.
Feel this beautiful diamond in your hand and in your mind's eye,
See the brightness it brings,
Its unmatched brilliance shining from the palm of your hand.
And see that diamond land very gently lighting up the very tip of your right hand thumb.
See the exquisite light on the very tip of your right hand thumb.
And then another diamond lands gently on your index finger,
Third finger,
The very tip of your fourth finger,
And your little finger.
See it land again in the palm of your hand and then on the back of your hand,
On your right wrist.
See more diamonds all along your lower arm and then at your elbow.
Yet more drop gently onto your upper arm,
To your shoulder.
All along the right hand side of your torso,
To your hip.
More diamonds sprinkling and sparkling.
All along your thigh,
To your knee,
And the space at the back of the knee.
Along your lower leg to your ankle,
Along the sole of your foot,
More diamonds landing ever so gently and lightly on the very tip of your right big toe.
Second toe,
Third toe,
Fourth toe,
And little toe.
Now start to notice a diamond has landed on the very tip of your left hand thumb.
And then another diamond lands gently on your index finger,
Your middle finger,
Your fourth finger,
And your little finger.
Another drops in the palm of your hand and yet more sprinkle onto the back of your hand,
Along your wrist and your lower arm,
To your elbow,
Up your upper arm,
To your shoulder.
All along the left hand side of your torso,
To your hip.
More diamonds sparkling,
Landing all along your left thigh,
To your knee and the space at the back of the knee.
All along your lower leg to your ankle and along the sole of your foot.
Yet more sparkling diamonds almost dancing land on the very tip of your left big toe.
Second toe,
Third toe,
Fourth toe,
And little toe.
More diamonds still,
Rushing up from the soles of your feet all along the backs of your leg,
Your glutes,
Your back,
Along your spine and your neck,
With every single fibre of hair lit up with diamond dust.
More diamonds now landing gently and lighting up and softening further still your forehead,
Your right eyebrow,
Your left eyebrow,
Your left eye,
Your right eye,
Your right cheek,
Your left cheek,
Your nose and the very tip of your nose.
All along the top of your lip and the lower lip and the space between your lips,
Letting your jaw completely go.
More diamonds still sparkling,
Sparkling with their light,
Land gently onto your right ear,
Your left ear.
See them now with your mind's eye in the space between your ears.
Feel your entire right leg now lit up with this diamond light.
And now your left leg,
Both legs at the same time,
Both legs together.
Your right arm,
Your left arm,
Both arms at the same time,
Both arms together.
The entire front side of your body lit up with this light of unmatched brilliance.
The entire back side of your body illuminated with this light.
From the inside out,
The left to right,
The top to bottom and the bottom to top,
Just lit up and illuminated with this light.
The diamond light,
The light from the darkness.
And what might it be like now to see your own inner core,
Your inner resource as one large shining diamond,
Surrounded by yet more smaller diamonds,
Beautiful stones of this unmatched brilliance,
Creating a protective circle around the diamond of your own inner resource,
Yourself.
And breathe into this space now,
Fully focusing and honing in on this sacred space,
Bringing your complete awareness to the very core of your being,
Lit up by the circle of diamond light,
Feeling whole,
Complete,
At peace and at rest.
Then expand out and take this feeling of wholeness,
Of completeness,
Of peace and deep rest out to every bone in your body,
Every muscle each and every cell,
Your tissues and fascia,
Every single inch of your body inside and out.
Let it be cloaked in this feeling of wholeness,
Of completeness,
Of peace and deep rest.
Breathing in,
Fully focus on your inner core.
Breathing out,
Feel that expansiveness,
Take your diamond light out to your whole body,
Your whole body.
Now hold these two states together in your mind's eye,
The focus and the expansiveness,
The expansiveness and the focus.
And rest here in the quiet space that now follows,
Rest here.
Now start to see the light from your array of all the exquisite diamonds around your body start to move through your body.
From the left side on your inhale,
Lighting up your body and exhaling through the right side of your body.
Inhaling through the right and then exhaling through the left.
In through the left,
Out to the right.
In through the right and out through the left.
Continue in your own time with your own breath.
Breathe in from both sides of your body at the same time.
Breathing into your centre and out from your centre.
Into the essence of your being and out from the essence of your being.
Effortlessly breathing in and out with ease.
And now become aware of your body lying here in this space again,
Being supported and held by the earth.
And notice those parts of the body which are connected to the earth.
Notice the back of your head,
Heavy now,
Resting on the earth.
Your back,
Your glutes and your legs all connected and supported by the earth.
And now notice those parts which rest away from the earth.
The top of your head,
Your face,
Perhaps the nape of your neck,
The small of your back,
That little space behind the knees,
The soles of your feet.
Just be aware and observe the difference.
Bringing your attention now to this space in between your eyebrows and imagine a space just in front of your forehead,
Maybe five or six inches away,
And see an empty space there,
Like a cinema screen or a projector screen.
And quietly rest here,
Watching this space and allow whatever images or patterns of light or colours to appear.
Be patient and wait and whatever comes,
Completely relax.
You don't need to get involved or engage with anything,
Just simply allow things to be,
Knowing you continue to be safely held in the quiet space that follows.
Trust yourself,
Relax and let it happen.
I'm going to invite you now to visualize a number of images.
Again,
No need for any involvement or engagement,
But give your full attention to visualizing the images as they're named.
In your mind's eye,
Imagine the rising sun,
A still calm lake,
A single white rose,
The glowing embers of a fire,
A shiny red apple,
A horse cantering over a field,
The still calm darkness of night,
A blue bellwood,
Thunder and lightning,
A beautiful country cottage,
Crashing waves in a stormy sea,
A field of lavender,
A murmuration of starlings,
Twinkling stars in the night sky,
The sun streaming into your bedroom on a summer morning,
A place to call your own.
May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others.
May you use the gifts that you have received and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content with yourself just the way you are.
Bringing your attention back to your breath now,
Feel the breath moving in and out of the body with ease,
Your body breathing itself.
Your body knows exactly what to do.
Call back your Sancalpa and really connect now with your deepest intention,
Your heartfelt desire.
Fully embody the quality of feeling you're calling for through your Sancalpa.
Feel it permeate every cell and bone of your body.
And repeating your Sancalpa again three times,
Silently and wholeheartedly to yourself.
Let it settle now deep inside your body,
Deep inside your inner resource,
And let it shine there in the diamond of yourself.
And know your unique heartfelt intention is planted deep into your subconscious now,
Shining with unmatched brilliance,
Inextinguishable,
No matter how dark things may become.
Know your intention is a certainty.
Know it is now real and present in your life.
And give thanks for it being part of your life.
Be grateful and rest in a wonderful sense of gratitude.
And know you can always return to this feeling inside your own diamond within,
Your inner resource,
Your own unmatched brilliance,
Shining bright like a diamond.
Bring your attention back to your breath once again and start to take deeper breaths richly into your body from the crown of your head to the tips of your toes.
Start to feel your body in the space that you're lying in.
And imagine the space around you now,
The walls,
The ceiling,
The floor,
The bed or the sofa that you're lying on.
Start to see the clothes and blankets that are covering you.
And start to arrive back in this space.
Start to give a little bit of movement in your fingers and toes,
Maybe taking the thumb and tapping each of your fingers as you land back into this space.
Start to hear the external sounds around you as you return to this space.
And know that you can keep all the benefits of this practice with you through your day,
Through your evening,
And may you sleep so well tonight.
And may your diamonds continue to shine brightly for you as you return to this space.
And may the peace which passes all understanding keep your heart and mind in the knowledge and presence of love.
The practice of Yoga Nidra is now complete.
