Hey y'all,
Nico here.
Welcome back to my channel.
And if you're new here,
Thanks for joining me.
I'm Nico.
Today's practice is for the new moon and solar eclipse in Leo.
From what I was reading,
This is a powerful time for building self-confidence,
Passion,
And creative expression.
It urges us to release what no longer serves us,
And it brings about a fresh start.
So we'll be tapping into the solar plexus Chakra and some of the Sacral Chakra too to help us maximize the power of the moon.
So let's go ahead and get started with our practice.
Today we're going to use the Surya Mudra since this is a Leo practice.
Leo is ruled by the Sun and the Surya Mudra is called the Seal of the Sun.
So to do the Surya Mudra you're just gonna fold your ring finger down to that mound of your thumb and then just rest your thumb on top of that ring finger letting the other fingers extend.
Let's start with some breath.
We'll take a deep inhale through the nose.
And exhale out the mouth.
Good.
Second deep inhale through the nose.
And exhale out the mouth.
One more deep inhale through the nose.
And exhale out the mouth.
Then come back to your natural breath again.
Let's re-prepare our minds and our bodies for this Leo practice.
Leaning into our self-confidence.
Releasing anything we don't need.
Take a inhale.
Exhale,
Release the fingers.
Rest the hands on the knees.
We're going to do some torso circles.
So just start to hand your body forward.
And circle it around to the right.
Okay,
Inhale back.
And exhale forward,
Moving with the breath.
And we'll switch directions.
Circle your torso to the left.
Bleh.
Come back to stillness.
Let's do some seated cat-cow.
So roll those shoulders back.
Inhale,
Arch the spine.
Exhale,
Round the spine,
Press those shoulders forward,
Bring the chin to the chest.
Good.
And your new arch.
Lift the chin,
Exhale round,
Press the shoulders forward,
Good.
Let's do a couple more rounds.
Come back to a neutral spine.
We'll come up to hands and knees.
We'll do some barrel rolls here.
So start to circle your head and your hips to the right.
Hmm.
Rounding as the head comes down and arching as it comes up.
And let's switch directions.
Sock your head and your hips to the left.
Might take a little more concentration.
Depending on which side is easier for you.
Hmm.
Come back to a neutral position.
We'll bring our big toes together,
Our knees wide,
And float our hips back and extend the arms forward for a Balasana,
Child's Pose.
Urgh Take a inhale.
Exhale,
Shift your weight forward.
Let's come to Down Dog.
Tuck your toes under,
Lift your hips up and back for Adho Mukha Svanasana,
Down Dog.
Pressing your chest towards your thighs.
Really elongating through those arms and the spine.
Remember,
You can bend your knees if you need to,
To get more elongation through those arms.
Press your heels towards the ground.
They don't have to touch the ground.
Just lengthening our body as much as we can here.
Take an inhale,
Extend that right leg back.
Exhale,
Step the right foot up in between the hands.
Rotate the back heel down flat.
Making a line from the front heel to the back heel or to the front heel to the inside arch of the back foot.
Right knee aligned over the ankle.
We'll windmill this left arm up,
Around,
And back as we come to Warrior II,
V-Rubber Dressing II.
Bleh.
Shoulders relaxed.
Check the alignment of the arms here.
Take an inhale,
Straighten that front knee.
Pivot both toes to face the left side of your mat.
Bring your heels inward,
Bring your toes outward.
Inhale.
Exhale,
Sit straight down.
Imagine your back sliding against the wall.
Bring your hands to heart center for goddess pose.
Again,
Heels in,
Toes out.
Ugh.
Take an inhale.
Straighten the knees,
Extend the arms back up.
Exhale,
Drop the arms out wide.
Pivot those right toes to face the front of your mat again.
We'll reach the right arm forward and lower the right hand down to the shin,
The ankle,
Or the ground as the left arm extends up.
If you want a little more you can extend this left arm over the ear and extend this right arm out for floating triangle.
Take a inhale,
Exhale,
Bend into this right knee,
Come into a lunge position.
Bringing a hand down on either side of the front foot.
We'll step the right foot back,
Come into plank,
Palakasana.
And we'll move through a vinyasa.
Inhale,
Plank.
Exhale,
Chaturanga,
Lowering down halfway or all the way.
Inhale,
Cobra,
Bhujangasana or Up Dog,
Urdhva Mukha Svanasana.
Exhale,
Down Dog,
Adho Mukha Svanasana.
Good.
Couple breaths,
Let's do the other side.
Take an inhale,
Extend this left leg back.
Exhale,
Step it up,
Then we'll turn the hands and rotate the back heel down flat.
Align this left knee over the ankle,
Front heel to back heel or front heel to inside arch of the back foot.
We mill this left right arm up around and back for warrior two.
We rubber dress in the two.
Checking the alignment of the arms here.
Ugh.
We'll take an inhale,
Straighten the front knee.
Pivot both toes to face the right side of your mat.
Bring your heels in,
Your toes out,
Inhale.
Exhale,
Sit straight down.
Bring your hands to heart center for goddess pose.
Ugh.
Take an inhale,
Extend those legs to straight,
Arms come back up.
Exhale,
Drop them out wide.
Pivot those left toes.
To face the front of your mat.
And then we'll reach for it with this left hand,
Lowering it down to the shin,
The ankle,
Or the ground for Trikonasana Triangle Pose.
If you want a little more,
Reach this right arm up and over and extend this left arm out for Floating Triangle.
Good Inhale,
Exhale,
Lower down.
Come into a lunge position.
Step this left foot back,
Come to plank.
And we'll do a vinyasa,
Inhale,
Plank.
Exhale,
Chaturanga.
Inhale cobra or up dog.
Exhale,
Down dog.
Or a mukhajjanaasana.
Ugh.
And we'll take an inhale here.
Exhale,
Drop those knees down,
Big toes together,
Knees wide.
Both the hips back,
Extend the arms forward.
For Balasana,
Child's Pose.
Good.
Take a inhale and a exhale now.
Exhale,
Shift your weight forward,
Come to a table position.
We're going to extend the arms more forward.
And then we'll lower our chest down,
Keep those hips lifted.
Maybe the gaze forward for puppy pose,
Uttanashi shasana.
Ugh.
We'll find a pulse here.
So inhale,
Lift the heart,
Maybe come forward a little bit.
Exhale,
Press those hips back,
Or press those hips up rather,
And lower the chest down towards the ground.
Good.
Inhale,
Lift the chest.
Exhale,
Lower.
Inhale,
Lift.
Exhale,
Lower.
Boom.
Inhale,
Walk those hands back,
Coming back to a table position.
We'll come to a seated position.
Extending those legs to straight.
From here,
We'll bend that right leg.
Right foot will step over the left foot.
So stepping that right foot over to the left side of the left leg.
Let that right arm rest behind you.
Extend the left arm up.
Inhale.
Exhale,
Twist and bring that left elbow outside of that right knee.
Or if it's better for you,
Just use this left arm to hug that right knee in towards you.
Whichever works best.
Here in half-lord officious pose are the Machindrasanas.
Make sure you're sitting nice and tall.
Imagine that string pulling you up from the crown of your head.
So you inhale,
Exhale,
Come back to center.
Extend those legs straight.
Let's do the other side.
Bending that left knee,
Step that left foot over to the right side.
Let that left hand rest behind you.
Sweep the right arm up,
Inhale.
Exhale,
Twist to the left.
Bring that right elbow outside of that left knee or just hug that left knee in with the right arm.
Looking over to the left or over the left shoulder.
Sitting nice and tall here.
Good.
Take a inhale.
Exhale,
Come back to center.
We'll make our way down to our back.
However you get there is fine.
You can bend your knees,
Scoot your hips close to your heels and come down onto your back.
Bring your arms alongside your body,
Palms facing downward,
And walk the heels back until you feel them graze your fingertips.
Press your lower back into the ground.
Press down through the heels and start to lift your hips off the ground.
Press those knees towards each other.
Make a nice ramp from the knees down towards the shoulders here in Setu Bandha Sarvangasana Bridge Pose.
For three,
Two and one.
Lower the hips down.
And hug those knees into the chest,
Rocking side to side.
Squeeze ourself into a ball here.
Inhale,
Hold.
Exhale,
Release.
Tusha Basana.
Feet reach towards the bottom corners of your mat.
Arms rest at your sides,
Palms facing upward.
If you would like,
You can come to a seated position.
Let's come back to the breath.
Taking a deep inhale through the nose.
Exhale out the mouth.
Take a second.
Deep inhale through the nose and exhale out the mouth.
One more.
Deep in health of the nose and exhale out the mouth.
Ugh.
Come back to the natural breath again.
Releasing any control over the breath.
Letting yourself be relaxed here after all the hard work you just did.
And while you're here,
I'll say some affirmations to you,
Which you can repeat silently to yourself or aloud.
I embrace a fresh start and invite transformation.
It feels good to release what doesn't serve my highest self.
I am open to new ways of life.
If you'd like to stay here longer,
I invite you to pause this audio now.
Otherwise,
Begin to wiggle your fingers and toes coming back into your body and back into the room.
And if you're laying down,
Roll to your favorite side using your arm as a pillow as we take a moment to reflect on our practice and to extend gratitude towards ourselves for this act of self-care and self-love today.
Next inhale make your way up to a comfortable seat once again.
Together,
We'll sweep the arms up overhead.
Inhale,
Let the hands meet.
Exhale,
Float them down to heart center.
Namaste.
