Welcome to this energizing breath practice this morning,
Breath of Fire.
My name's Nikki from True Equanimity Yoga.
So this is a practice you might like to do first thing in the morning before breakfast to get you ready for your day or before exercise.
As it's an energising practice of around 30 to 60 breaths per minute.
If there's any health issues such as glaucoma or unmanaged high or low blood pressure,
You might like to check with your healthcare practitioner before practising Breath of Fire.
So that's a practice we do,
Sitting upright,
Spine tall but relaxed.
You could be sitting on a chair like I am today.
Or you could be sitting on the floor if that's more comfortable for you.
Maybe a cushion under the pelvis.
So in Breath of Fire,
The exhale is active and the inhale is passive.
So this exhale through the nose,
It's like a short,
Sharp out-breath,
Like a little sneeze.
So we're going to do 20 breaths of that by three rounds,
Relaxing in between.
But I'll just do a little demonstration of the breath of fire first so you can see my abdomen moving and see how the breath works.
So I'm going to take a regular breath in through the nose.
Breath out through the nose.
Breathing in halfway.
And then beginning the practice.
So you can see how my abdomen was kind of snapping back and forth with the breath.
So are you ready to practice Breath of Fire?
Sitting tall.
Face and shoulders are going to be relaxed.
There's no straining with this breath.
So we're going to start in three,
Two,
One.
Taking a breath in through the nose.
My breath out through the nose.
Breathing about halfway in and then beginning our 20 rounds.

Just return to your regular breath,
Breathing in and out through the nose.
Maybe closing the eyes if that feels comfortable to go inward and notice any sensations.
And then getting ready for a second round of Breath of Fire.
So taking a regular breath in through the nose,
Breath out through the nose,
Breathing about halfway in.

Breathing easy.
Notice the body,
Notice your breath.
Just allowing everything to settle for a few regular breaths in between our rounds.
And then getting ready to complete our final round of Breath of Fire.
So inhale through the nose.
Exhale through the nose.
Inhale halfway.

You've just completed your energising practice for the day.
I hope it gives you a great start to your day and I will see you later in the day for your balancing practice.
