Establish a comfortable seat for meditation.

You can perform this practice of meditation in any posture of your choosing.

The main thing is that the spine can be elongated.

Through our body,

We're trying to create an inner world circumstance where we can be restful yet alert.

The body,

Mind and energy are alert but not tense,

Relaxed but not dull.

Support your body in any way you need to so that we can allow the current of our mind and the energy of the senses,

Which are normally wrapped up in an outer world,

Filled with diversity and sensation and stimulation.

We can allow the current of our mind to flow inward.

This flowing inward of consciousness allows us to connect with our own resilience,

Our own healing power,

Our own infinitude.

Each time we meditate,

We step into the highest version of ourself.

Just like the river rushes towards the sea,

By turning the current of the mind within,

We expand.

We have the opportunity to experience who we really are,

What we're truly made of.

Total boundlessness,

Perfect peace,

Infinite love.

The yogis have called this space inside of us Shiva.

We'll invite in a feeling of relaxation to the body and mind using the breath.

Breathe in a little bit deeper and breathe out a little bit longer.

And as you breathe in deep and breathe out long,

Just get a sense of what it feels like to be you in this body,

In this circumstance at this time.

Breathing with the awareness,

I am breathing in and I am breathing out.

And just by placing your awareness on the breath,

Our experience of the breath will grow more profound.

Right away,

We experience the most transformative aspect of meditation.

Our awareness has power,

The power to refine,

The power to uplift,

The power to alchemize any experience.

Let the mind rest on the breath as you breathe in deep and breathe out long.

And if you feel really agitated,

If the mind is restless,

For a few moments work on lengthening your exhalation.

This lengthening of the exhalation will release excess energy so you can settle into this body,

Into this practice more fully.

If you feel lethargic,

If you have low energy,

If you feel sad,

Work on increasing your capacity for the inhalation as to gather more prana,

More energy,

More vitality in the body.

So we can lengthen our inhale to gather more vitality and energy or we can lengthen our exhalation to release excess or stagnant energy.

Breathing in to create spaciousness,

Openness,

Receptivity to our real circumstance,

Breathing out to soften,

To settle in,

To let go,

To make peace with what is.

Breathing in deep and breathing out long.

And as you breathe in a little bit deeper and breathe out a little bit longer,

Your whole being is poised to embrace your own inner power.

However you are,

Wherever you are,

In whatever circumstance you might find yourself in currently,

Through this practice we'll learn to be with our own inner power,

Our own essence nature,

Our unshakable resilience,

Our inner wisdom.

A goodness without an opposite.

We do this by taking the aid of the mantra that honors the deepest place inside of us.

Om Namasivaya means I honor my higher self.

Om Namasivaya.

I am divine,

Loving awareness.

Om Namasivaya.

Salutations to that which I am capable of becoming.

Om Namasivaya.

I honor the Lord who lives within.

We'll begin by joining the mantra,

Om Namasivaya,

With the breath.

Om Namasivaya breathing in.

And Om Namasivaya breathing out.

Om Namasivaya breathing in.

And Om Namasivaya breathing out.

Let the mantra Om Namasivaya ride on the wave of the breath as it comes in and goes out of the body.

Don't be concerned with whether the breath is deep or shallow at this time.

Just let the breath become totally infused with the mantra,

Om Namasivaya.

The mantra Om Namasivaya is Chaitanya,

Conscious or alive.

And as you breathe with the mantra,

You might experience the mantras aliveness.

The mantra may melt or become gooey,

Legato.

Or the rate of the mantra may increase.

In your own inner world,

The mantra may sound like,

Om Namasivaya.

Om Namasivaya.

Om Namasivaya.

Or it may sound something like this,

Om Namasivaya.

Om Namasivaya.

Om Namasivaya.

Om Namasivaya.

Om Namasivaya.

Om Namasivaya.

Let the mantra fill the inner world as breath comes in and breath goes out.

The mantra is filled with the energy,

The power of meditation,

The experience of unity consciousness.

And our breath is this loving exchange between our inner world and the outer world,

Between us and life.

The mantra and the breath are the linking mechanism that put us back into continuity with the flow of life.

Even if thoughts arise,

Just go on thinking the mantra,

Om Namasivaya.

Letting the breath fall away as we move towards a more subtle experience of the mantra.

Just repeat the mantra inwardly,

Silently,

At a rate that's comfortable for you.

Feel the vibration of the mantra,

Om Namasivaya,

As it fills the innermost heart.

Om Namasivaya.

Om Namasivaya.

Om Namasivaya.

The mantra,

Om Namasivaya,

Connects us to the stillness,

The silence,

The sacredness of the self.

Repeat the mantra,

Om Namasivaya,

With the understanding that you,

The mantra,

And whatever you hold to be sacred,

Whatever you hold to be divine,

They are all one in the mantra.

Shiva is the source,

The course,

And the destination,

All one within us,

As we chant the mantra.

Om Namasivaya.

Om Namasivaya.

Om Namasivaya.

The mantra will take us to the innermost self,

To the sacred heart,

The heart of all,

The heart of life.

Let the internal recitation of the mantra,

Om Namasivaya,

Take you to the innermost self.

Merge in this deep silence of the self.

Experience the power of meditation.
