I think it's really helpful to think about why we meditate.

I've been meditating for about 20 years,

And thinking back,

It's the space and the healing that meditation has given me that's kept me going all these years.

I like to think that meditation gives me almost a second skin so that I can go out into the world feeling stronger,

Less reactive,

More loving,

And really more able to cope with whatever life throws at me.

I keep coming back to meditation because I can feel the inner strength that it gives me.

It stops me having to lean on other people for my own confidence,

For my own ability to go out into the world,

Succeed,

Deal with conflict,

Create,

Come up with new ideas,

And make an impact.

So really for me,

Mindfulness and meditation is all about self-empowerment.

It's about finding an extraordinary healing power within us that we didn't know even existed,

But has been there right from when we were born.

It's extraordinarily powerful.

It's always there.

We just need to understand the tools and techniques to get us there.

So if you're wondering whether or not to keep going with this meditation practice that at times can feel a little dull,

Or perhaps it takes a little too long,

And perhaps there are just some other more pleasant,

Fun activities you'd rather do instead,

Just try and remember why you've come to meditation.

What are you hoping to cultivate?

How are you hoping to feel?

How are you hoping to impact the world and the people around you?

And hopefully that will keep you practicing.
