Welcome.
Welcome home to yourself and to this practice of Yoga Nidra,
The sleep which brings us into balance.
Thank you for joining me today.
Let's begin by allowing the body to rest down into a comfortable supine position,
Lying on the floor or something that is very comfortable to the body but doesn't allow the body to fall asleep as easily.
The floor is ideal and we can always use extra blankets underneath of the body on top of the body.
Placing a bolster or cushions underneath the knees can help ease the lower back and a cushion or a pillow underneath the head can make it more comfortable for the head to rest.
So take the next few moments as the body begins to settle to find a very comfortable position for the body.
Allow the body to become very restful,
So comfortable that it doesn't have the desire to move.
If the desire to move does arise during our practice,
First observe it.
Notice that it's there and at times the sensation to move will dissipate and pass.
If it remains with mindfulness,
Allow the body to move and come back into a place of restful stillness.
So allowing the body to find five percent more comfort,
Taking any last-minute wiggles that feel good to the body and allow it to find even more comfort and then begin to feel a deep breath come in.
Feel that breath release out.
Letting the body begin this process of release physically and energetically.
The body feels supported and nurtured.
It feels held and warm and the breath begins to find a little bit deeper rhythm for a few moments,
A few repetitions,
So that we can feel the presence of the breath and yet it also begins to settle into its own natural perfect rhythm.
Finding your own pace that works just right for you.
And let's help this breath settle just a little bit more by using a Brahmari breath.
The Brahmari breath is simply a full inhale and humming exhale.
Hum as loud or as quiet as it feels right and just allow the exhale to be stretched out and audible humming gently.
Taking a deep breath in.
Hum Hum Hum Notice the effects of the Brahmari breath.
Notice how the mind perhaps feels a little more settled and clear.
It's essentially a sonic vibrational cleanse for the whole body-mind energy system.
Hum so feel the body restful on the earth.
Feel the mind softening and the breath flowing at its own perfect,
Perfect pace.
As we flow through the body,
We'll notice and we'll hear the sound of the sound of Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
And the sound,
This mantra helps us to recognize the great power each one of us possesses.
This divine feminine energy represents the will,
The things to get done,
The energy to move forward in this life and to create new positive experiences that carry us forward on our path.
So allow this sound to carry through the whole body,
Letting go of attachment to any parts or any patterns and allowing ourselves to flow with ease and with grace,
Finding the Pushthi Marga,
The path of ease and grace on this path of Nidra and meditation.
So feel the presence of the top of the head.
Feel the top of the head.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Allowing this mantra at the top of the head to wash through all of us,
As if there's a light shining from the crown down through the body,
Connecting every part of us all together with this light.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Now allow the sound and our awareness,
The power and vitality to flow through the rest of the body.
The brow center.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Down into the space between the collarbones at the base of the neck.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Now feel the flow of this power move down the left arm,
Feeling the left shoulder,
Elbow,
Wrist.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Feel the center of the palm and all five fingers flow this power out into each finger,
The thumb,
Index,
Middle,
Ring,
Little finger,
All five fingers,
The whole left hand,
The whole left hand.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Now feel this inner awareness and power flow up the left arm,
Elbow,
Shoulder,
Back to the pit of the throat.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Now feel this inner awareness and power flow down the right arm,
Shoulder,
Elbow,
Wrist.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Feel the center of the right palm,
The right palm,
All five fingers flowing with this energy,
Thumb,
Index,
Middle,
Ring,
Little finger,
All five fingers,
The whole right hand,
Center of the palm,
The whole right hand.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Now let her flow up the right arm,
Wrist,
Elbow,
Shoulder.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Now center of the throat,
Now flow down,
Down to the center of the chest,
Right behind the sternum,
Feel this Shakti,
This power glowing brightly in the center of the chest.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Now flow this power to the left side of the rib cage.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
To the right side of the rib cage,
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Back to the center of the chest,
Feel this power glow right behind the sternum.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Move the inner awareness to the navel.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Down to the womb space or the lower abdomen.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
And to the pubic bones,
We find ourselves at the base of the body,
The pubic bones.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Now feel this flow,
This power move down the left leg,
Hip,
Knee,
Ankle.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Feel the soul of the left foot.
All five toes shimmering with this power,
Big toe,
Second toe,
Third toe,
Fourth toe,
Fifth toe.
All five toes,
Soul of the foot,
The whole left foot.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Flowing this inner light and awareness,
This power up the left leg,
Ankle,
Knee,
Hip.
Back to the pubic bones,
We find ourselves.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Now flow her energy,
Her power down the right leg.
Feel the right hip,
Knee,
Ankle.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Feel the soul of the right foot.
All five toes awake and alive with this power and energy.
Big toe,
Second toe,
Third toe,
Fourth toe,
Fifth toe.
All five toes,
The ball of the foot,
The whole right foot.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Flowing up,
Up the right leg,
Ankle,
Knee,
Hip.
Back to the pubic bones,
We find ourselves.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Back to the lower abdomen,
The lower abdomen or the womb space.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Finding our way back to the navel.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
And we come back to the center of the chest,
The space behind the sternum,
Filled with this Shakti,
This power.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Flowing this power up to the base of the neck,
The space between the collarbones.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
Feeling the space between the eyebrows.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
And now we come to the crown.
Flowing all this awareness,
All this power from the top of the head through the whole body.
Feeling this awareness at the crown.
Om Para Shaktiaye Namaha.
The whole body,
The whole body filled with radiant power,
With will to progress on our path.
Nothing can stop us.
Now feel the experience of the body resting here,
Letting go into the spacious stillness.
Feeling this vibrant energy,
This life force Shakti power flowing through us with ease and with grace.
We feel her presence pulsating through us as if the blood carried this life force through us.
And we resonate with this inner flow of energy,
Of your divine self.
And then with your next inhale,
Feel all of the space around the body.
Notice everything that isn't you.
Feel the spacious energy pulsating in a similar way to this universal Shakti within.
This universal Shakti without is present around us.
Always.
Feel the subtle pulsation of this Shakti outside of the body.
Notice it below you,
Above you,
To each side.
The subtle pulsation of Shakti is down by your feet and up above the head.
And it reaches far beyond just your body.
The subtle energy around your body is just the beginning.
Allow your inner awareness with your next breath in to expand to the whole room that your body is in.
Feel the subtle presence of this Shakti all around you,
Filling this entire room,
Your entire space.
Now let this inner awareness expand even farther out beyond your home or where you are practicing this today.
Feel the city that you live within,
The community that you are a part of.
Feel the subtle pulsation all through the community.
Feel this subtle pulsation expand even farther to encompass your entire country.
Feel this elevated energy reaching to every corner of this planet.
Feel your connection to this expanded sense of energy,
This Parashakti,
All around you,
All around this entire planet we live on.
And all of it within you.
This energy is what connects us,
Unites all living beings.
Breathe in to this expanded awareness,
A deep breath in.
And with your next exhale,
Allow this awareness to come back into your body,
Feeling the Shakti pulsating within you.
And begin to notice your breath,
Just as it is without changing it.
Begin to feel each inhale and count backwards from 18 your exhale.
Inhaling,
Know you are breathing in.
Exhaling,
17.
Inhaling,
Know that you are breathing in.
Exhaling,
16.
And so on.
Allowing your inner awareness to come to the center point of your breath.
Feeling each inhale and each exhale just as it is.
And if you lose track of the numbers,
Don't worry.
The objective is not to reach zero,
It's simply to become aware of the breath.
Feel free to start the numbers at 18 if we lose track.
And wherever we are in the counting,
Release the inner awareness of the numbers and just be present to this time and this space.
Looking within to the wisdom of the heart,
To the divine Shakti within each of us.
Noticing if there is a sankalpa from this practice you would like to carry forward into the rest of your day.
A sankalpa is a heartfelt intention.
We make them in the present moment as if they are already true.
So as we turn our awareness to the wisdom of the heart,
Listening within,
Perhaps words will arise to become your sankalpa.
Perhaps images are present or perhaps it is just quiet spaciousness.
Whatever arises,
It is just right for this moment.
If there are no words,
Perhaps you have your intention be that you will hold space for the wisdom of the heart to shine through in just the right way at just the right time.
Repeating our sankalpa three times,
More from the heart than from the head.
In this liminal space of yoga nidra,
All things are possible.
When we feel complete with our sankalpa,
Take a deep breath in to nourish this sankalpa and exhale something out,
Something can let go that will maybe get in the way of the sankalpa.
Let it go with your exhales.
We begin to bring awareness back into our bodies.
We feel the presence of our bodies resting on the floor.
We begin to come back,
Wiggling our toes,
Perhaps caressing our fingertips with our thumbs.
Maybe rolling ankles and wrists or turning the head,
Moving the lips or the tongue gently.
Sometimes a full body stretch feels great at this moment.
Whatever movement feels right and good in this moment is just right.
And then eventually as our body becomes to become awakened,
We roll over to either side resting peacefully on our sides,
Cradling our head and necks into our arms.
Taking a moment to offer ourselves love and gratitude for this practice today.
For taking care of our bodies,
Our minds,
Our hearts,
Our spirits,
Being willing to slow down and enjoy yourself by going in.
When your body feels ready,
Allow it to come up to sitting.
If it's not quite there,
Please feel free to stay here and rest as long as is right for you.
Thank you so much for joining me for this yoga nidra practice today.
It is always a gift to be here to be your guide and teacher.
Thank you so much for your presence.
May the bright light in my heart bow to that same brilliant divine light in yours.
Namaste.
