Welcome to this short 10-minute meditation practice.
During this meditation practice,
We will take a moment to connect inwardly and honestly with our spiritual heart to receive abundance and compassion.
The spiritual heart in Sanskrit is known as Hiradaya.
Hiradaya is the essence of self and a place of truthful knowledge,
Higher consciousness and physical intellect.
The place of Hiradaya witnesses and observes our thoughts,
Sensations and emotions.
It is a place of receiving love and compassion and of giving love and compassion.
Start by finding a comfortable position with your body and bring awareness to your natural state of breath.
Within these first moments of stillness,
Observe how your body is feeling,
Using each exhale to soften into the place where you reside.
In the present moment here,
You might ask,
What can I feel within my body?
Where is there tension and heaviness?
Where is there lightness and joy?
Whatever you have brought with you to your mat today,
Meet it with acceptance and affirmation.
As you presently and truthfully meet yourself here,
You may ask yourself,
How is the state of my heart today?
This practice of self-compassion begins with acknowledging,
Exploring and accepting the richness and duality of sensations,
Emotions and thoughts inhabited by the body.
Thoughts and beliefs of compassion may not always be present,
But we can intentionally practice loving kindness and invite abundance for ourselves and for others.
I invite you to enter your hands into Padma Mudra by connecting the base of your hands,
Your thumbs and pinky fingers at your heart center.
You'll spread your fingers and open your palms like you are holding a bowl in between the hands.
If you would prefer not to practice Mudra today,
You can place your hands on a part of your body that you would like to connect with,
Or you can rest your arms by your sides.
Padma Mudra symbolizes a lotus flower arising from the muddy waters as our heart arises out of fear,
Attachment and longing and into receptivity and abundance.
Each of us within our heart space holds generosity and unique wisdom inherently.
Receive your abundant breath as it rises into your chest underneath your thumbs and expands upwards towards the top of your lungs and to your collarbones.
You may visualize the upward flow of your breath stemming from higher power or consciousness surrounding you and upwardly flowing into your body,
Bringing prana,
Energy,
Union and revitalization to your body.
This union with something beyond our physical selves provides us with support,
Abundance and hope.
In receiving the abundance of your breath,
You may inwardly repeat,
The answers that I am seeking lie within the wisdom of my heart and my body.
Visualize your breath expanding and warming parts of the body experiencing discomfort that needs some love today.
The breath warms and comforts even the parts of yourself that you find difficult to meet.
It brings presence to the parts of ourselves that we may have numbed or disconnected from.
Feelings of impatience,
Of grief,
Confusion,
Of anger and of loss.
The breath helps you to sense and accept it all as it creates space and stillness within the body.
As you receive this abundance and warming of your breath,
What do you sense across the front of your body and chest?
How does your heart feel?
Know that in moments of groundlessness,
Uncertainty or scarcity,
You can come back to this practice.
If you would like to take a little more time to receive and rest,
Please stay exactly where you are.
Otherwise,
Slowly wake up your body by deepening your breath,
Leaning into intuitive and soft movement as you come back into the space.
You may like to finish your practice today by placing your hands at heart center and rubbing the palms together to generate some warmth.
Place your palms on a part of your body that needs this warmth and support today.
Through your palms,
Bring thankfulness and gratitude to this meditative practice and to yourself today for carving space to participate in this meditation.
