Parked safely,
Sitting tall in the driver's seat,
Becoming aware of the seat beneath you.
And take a moment to notice and acknowledge the quality of your mind right now.
It may be buzzing or racing,
Maybe feeling apprehensive,
Tight,
Holding on.
Whatever it is,
Simply acknowledging without any judgement the quality of your mind right now.
Allow your sit bones to press firmly into the seat beneath you,
So the spine rises up and the heart raises to the sky.
Bring one hand to the belly and one to the chest.
Bring all of your awareness to how it feels to breathe.
Bringing your awareness to the rhythm of the breath as it comes into the body and as it leaves the body.
Not trying to change the breath at all,
Simply noticing,
Acknowledging and bringing your mind here to the present moment.
Feel the way the body moves underneath your hands as the breath flows in and flows out.
Such a gentle natural process that we don't often think about.
Turns automatically for us.
Noticing how you're breathing today,
Noticing if the belly moves first or the chest moves first or perhaps the shoulders move first.
And if it's just the chest that's moving with the breath,
Just invite the next breath to go right down into the belly.
Just letting the breath come into the chest then into the belly,
Out through the belly and out through the chest.
Let the body move and be soft.
Let the shoulders soften as each breath comes in and flows out.
Invite the neck and the jaw to soften.
Keeping your awareness with your natural rhythm of your breath.
Inviting the breath to become deeper.
Inviting the breath to feel happy as it comes in.
Inviting it to bring you peace.
And inviting the body to let go of the day.
Let go just for now of all that's happened.
Letting the body and the mind take a break,
Relax,
Become clearer.
Tuning the body and the mind for better efficiency and better productivity by stepping back.
Stepping back from your awareness of multiple things and just letting your awareness be with the breath just for now.
Feeling the breath underneath the hands as it flows in and out of the body.
And perhaps you can also feel your heartbeat.
Beautiful heartbeat,
Giver of life.
Getting the breath soft and natural as you breathe in and out through the nostrils.
If your mind wanders,
Bring it back to this feeling of the breath.
Breath is life.
And before you begin to drive,
Simply rest the hands on the wheel.
And now moving them with the breath.
So as you're inhaling,
Open the hands and stretch the fingers just as the ribcage opens and stretches with the breath.
And with the exhale,
Let the hands soften back on the wheel.
If you're not in the driver's seat,
You can do this just with your hands resting on your lap.
With the breath,
The hands open.
With the exhale,
The hands soften,
Curling back to the wheel.
And there's two pauses.
So just allow the hands to pause.
The natural breath is inhale and pause.
Exhale and pause for different but equally important parts of the breath.
When you're ready,
You're welcome to begin driving.
And just know that if you're stopped at traffic lights,
Roadworks,
You can bring your awareness back to your breath and even open the hands with the inhale and draw them back with the exhale to allow the body and the mind to take a break from racing,
To take a break from pressure and simply be right there in the present moment.
Thanks for listening.
Until next time,
Be happy,
Be safe and be kind.
