Hello,
And thank you for joining me for this Mind the Pain mindfulness meditation,
Aimed at reducing the stress,
Pain,
And anxiety caused by endometriosis.
Before we begin,
I just want to give a heads up that the subject matter discussed in this meditation can be quite upsetting,
Which I know is nothing us endo-warriors aren't used to,
But if it's not something you're feeling up for today,
That's okay.
Please feel free to check out a lighter meditation,
Like the full body scan,
A solid B- for my first meditation,
But I'll let you be the judge.
And if you're wanting to stay with me today,
That's great,
Welcome.
Let's begin by getting comfortable,
Either sitting up straight or lying down,
Gently closing our eyes and feeling our body sink into the surface below us,
While letting the tension release from our body.
We'll arrive here with three deep physiological sigh breaths to fully calm ourselves.
We'll start with a deep belly breath in,
An extra quick inhale,
And exhale.
And once again,
Deep belly breath in,
An extra quick inhale,
And exhale.
And last time,
Deep belly breath in,
An extra quick inhale,
And exhale.
Great job.
You've likely landed on this particular meditation because you're having one of those truly bad days.
And yes,
Us endo-warriors on average experience an overwhelming amount of more challenging days compared to others,
But each of us know what this particularly bad day feels like.
The deeply hard one,
While the experience,
However harrowing,
Remains unique to each of us,
The intense feelings of despair,
Loss,
And fear remain so common amongst all endo-warriors on these days.
Whether it's feeling so fatigued you can't even move out of bed,
Or being in an emotional hole so dark and deep you can't muster the will to see the light,
Maybe it's another negative symbol on the pregnancy test,
Or being in so much pain and agony you can't even attend your best friend's birthday party,
Or some other event you were really excited about,
Whatever pain brought you here today.
I'm so truly sorry.
I pride myself on a business model that takes pain away,
But we all know that these particular pains are sometimes too great.
All we can do is just be here with our emotions,
Witnessing them,
And our body,
Allowing it to feel all the feelings,
Because endo-warriors rightly have a lot of them,
And it's in these moments where feeling the sensations of self-love,
Kindness,
Compassion,
And most of all faith run through us,
Is so crucial,
It's the only override button that we have to help overcome the rest of it,
And I know this isn't a new hot take on the endometriosis struggle,
But hopefully the reminder that what you're feeling is real and completely valid is of some small comfort amidst all this chaos.
So let's just meet ourselves here,
Keeping the deep breaths going,
Knowing that this darkness is so unfair,
It's criminal that we're forced with this life sentence without more resources to bail ourselves out,
Remembering however,
Even if we feel like there's no possible way to survive these feelings,
The pain,
Depression,
Grief,
Somewhere within us is the will to survive,
To keep going,
Despite all odds.
I know this because we've sadly had these days before,
Even if our brain and its effort to keep us safe has helped us forget,
And somehow,
Somewhere within us,
We find that strength to keep going,
No matter how deep it's buried,
We know at some level it will get better,
But that we need to meet ourselves here first,
Witnessing and validating these complex and overwhelming emotions before overcoming them.
As we continue to be within this moment,
We'll gently wrap our arms around ourselves,
Like a hug,
Rubbing our arms,
Slowly,
And down,
Up,
And down,
Breathing in deeply,
Continuing to rub your arms.
I want you to repeat the following phrase.
I love you.
This isn't fair,
But we'll be okay.
I love you.
This isn't fair,
But we'll be okay.
Because we always are,
Eventually.
The body or universe may not always play fair,
But they both ultimately have our back,
And always will.
Let's remain here a little while longer,
Breathing deeply,
Hopefully finally feeling some peace wash over your entire body,
Feeling that strength and resilience slowly but surely building back up within us.
As we finish up this meditation,
We'll do two more deep breaths in to fully relax ourselves one last time.
Once again,
Deep belly breath in,
An extra quick inhale,
And exhale.
And last time,
Deep belly breath in,
An extra quick inhale,
And exhale.
Wiggle the fingers and toes,
Take a nice big stretch,
And open your eyes.
Remember,
Even on the days where we feel like we've lost the endometriosis battle,
Try as it might,
It can never destroy us,
And we will ultimately win the war.
Go on warrior,
You've got this.
