So let's start by finding a comfortable position.
Just remembering that these meditations are meant to be done in the stillness and silence of a place that feels comfortable,
Where you can close your eyes and be still.
So if you're anywhere that requires you to be mindful and aware,
If you are driving,
Maybe press pause and come back to this later.
Otherwise,
Begin to feel yourself safe and supported.
And if it feels safe and right to do so,
Go ahead and close down your eyes,
Or just stay here with me.
Take a deep breath in,
And breathe out,
Letting it all settle.
And as the mind begins to settle,
Allow for the breath to settle,
Allow for the body to settle.
And start to bring to mind the old story that you've been carrying about yourself.
You don't need to deep dive into it,
Just acknowledge that it's there.
It's that simple noting of,
Ah,
There's that old narrative.
And start to imagine that story as something outside of you.
Maybe words that are written on a piece of paper,
Or clouds in the sky,
Or leaves that are floating down the stream.
You can see the story,
You can read it,
But you are not the story.
And as you do that,
Start to notice the shift in the body.
Maybe there's a release.
Maybe the body feels a little more still,
A little safer.
It's still there,
You can see it,
But it's no longer as oppressive.
Now take a deep breath in,
And as you breathe out,
Start to gently release that old narrative.
Let it float away.
Let the page be turned.
Let the clouds pass by.
Knowing that it was just a page in your story,
It served a purpose once,
But you're safe to carry on without it.
As you feel into the stillness of not having this story with you,
Start to bring to mind your new,
More truthful,
Compassionate story about yourself.
Really feel this new narrative.
This one you can take off the page,
From the sky,
Out of the river,
And bring into you.
What does this new compassionate narrative,
Settling into your body,
Feel like?
Maybe there's a warmth.
Maybe there's a gentle light.
What does it feel like to be in that space?
What does it feel like to truly believe this new story?
Notice how your body wants to hold itself when you embody this narrative.
Maybe there's more space in your chest,
Or softness in your shoulders.
Maybe you feel more grounded.
As you hold on to this new story,
Start to imagine,
Feeling like this,
What it would be like to move through the day.
Start to imagine yourself waking up in the morning,
Carrying this compassionate narrative with you.
What changes?
How do you meet the day differently?
How do you treat yourself differently?
Hold on to that vision.
Hold on to that feeling,
Knowing that it is possible.
That it is something you are capable of.
Of showing up for yourself with that compassion,
And kindness,
And care,
And watching it move out into the world around you.
And then from here,
Start to release.
Start to become aware of the space around you.
And when it feels right and safe to do so,
Go ahead and flutter your eyes open.
Take in the space,
And enter back connected and calm.
As you go forward this week,
Continue to challenge those narratives,
Remembering that you get to create any story,
And you get to embody it,
And feel it,
And return to it.
It's not something that you need to prove or earn.
The story is already true.
You just need to live it.
So,
We'll end as we began,
With a deep breath in,
And breathing out.
