Imagine a peaceful place.
Imagine that the temperature feels just right.
Notice the trees,
Notice the sounds,
Notice the way that the sky looks.
Begin to take a walk in your peaceful place.
Notice the way the ground feels beneath your feet,
Soft.
A butterfly greets you as you begin your walk.
It lands on your finger.
You gently lift it up and place it on your shoulder.
You continue to walk,
Feeling calm.
You continue to notice the sky,
The sounds,
And the soft ground beneath your feet.
As you walk,
A small bird appears.
You cup your hands and it gently flies in and rests there.
You bring it up to your shoulder and it sits next to the butterfly and you continue your walk.
The ground is so soft under your toes that you squish them in.
You feel relaxed,
Safe.
Up ahead,
You notice a colorful frog.
You kneel down and extend the palm of your hand and the frog hops in.
You lift the frog up.
It sits on your other shoulder and you continue to walk.
You notice how comfortable you feel in this peaceful place.
You notice how good it feels in your belly.
A chipmunk appears,
So cute and happy.
You offer your arm and the chipmunk slowly walks up,
Tickling you.
It walks all the way up to your shoulder and sits next to the frog.
You continue your journey and up ahead,
You see a meadow.
The meadow is full of many animals.
They are dancing.
They are joyful.
What animals do you see?
They invite you to join.
You hold their furry paws and you laugh.
They are so kind and funny.
You feel happy,
Calm.
Soon the butterfly reappears and tells you it is time to go.
You wave goodbye to all of the animals and tell them you will be back soon.
The butterfly leads you back down the path you came.
You notice how peaceful and beautiful this place is.
You notice the sky and the sounds and how good you feel being in this peaceful place.
Soon the butterfly flutters away and you find yourself safe in your comfortable bed at home,
Remembering your journey and all of the great animals that you met along your walk.
And then you take three deep breaths in through the nose.
Hold at the top.
Exhale.
Two more.
One more.
Slowly you begin to drift off to sleep remembering your peaceful place.
And you can always come back to this peaceful place whenever you are worried or afraid or sad.
Or even if you're happy,
You can always come back to this peaceful place.
Good night.
