
Sonic Sunday: Coping With Quarantine

Good evening.
I'm Jonna Parricone,
And this is Michael Parricone.
And we're really grateful to be here with you this evening.
Tonight,
We will be bathing in the beautiful sounds of these gongs and chimes and ancient Tibetan singing bowls.
As some of you know,
Some of you don't know,
All of the bowls here are between 300 and 600 years old.
And they're very transformative.
So please do put on some earbuds if you have them or earphones.
And I really invite you to let this be your time.
I think about Mother's Day and how we're honoring mothers and caregivers and nurturers.
And really,
We have this beautiful ability to self-nurture ourselves within ourselves and that deep love that is there.
So for some of us,
It's a kernel,
And some of us,
It's growing.
And I just invite us this evening to let yourself melt into that peace,
Into that love that's there within you.
So please allow yourself to get into a very comfortable seat or lying down.
Make sure that you feel comfortable.
Know that you can move at any time.
Know that there is no wrong way to do this and that this time is just for you.
So however you experience it is yours.
And so I invite you now just to kind of turn your awareness to the room that you're in,
Perhaps feeling the space around you,
Around your body,
Around your head,
Perhaps feeling the weight of your own body on the cushion or the chair or the couch or whatever you're on.
Really see if you can feel into the weight of your body,
Your body.
Feel any pressure there,
Any tingling,
Any sensation at all.
And we'll begin by just bringing an open and kind curiosity to wherever we are right now.
So perhaps you can feel into your body,
Feel into any part of the body that might feel a little crunchy or a little tight.
And see if just by taking a nice easy breath into that part of the body,
You can soften that part of the body,
Remembering that the body holds tension as a way to protect itself.
And we're inviting in safety.
And so it is safe here right now to breathe,
To drop in,
To calm and soothe your body just by breathing.
Your body just by bringing your awareness to any area that might feel tight.
So perhaps your shoulders might be feeling a little tight.
Invite them to soften.
Perhaps your breath is feeling a little tight.
Allow the ribs to expand,
To open.
Allow the jaw to release for there to be a slight space between the upper and the bottom part and the upper and the bottom teeth.
Soften behind the eyes,
Softening in the upper back,
In the mid-back,
And the lower back.
And I invite you to bring your awareness to your heart.
If you'd like,
You can place your hand on your heart.
Just feel that sense of care when we touch our heart.
And I invite you to bring to mind someone or some being that when you think of them,
You feel happy.
It can be someone that means a lot to you,
Or perhaps it can be a small animal like a puppy or a kitten.
Just some being that when you think of them,
You feel content and heard.
Allow that feeling to resonate through your body as you soften through the belly and down the hips and the legs and down to the knees and the calves and the shins,
Allowing this feeling to cascade through every muscle,
Bone,
Cell,
Even the space between the cells of your being.
As we soften through the ankles and the feet and the toes,
Feeling into the softening of your own body,
Opening your heart if you wish,
And allowing whatever is in your heart to be there.
As the rhythmic moving of the heart moves to the rhythm of the sounds around you,
Allowing your ears to alight on the pitch or the tone of the mere essence of sound,
The movement,
The harmonics moving through your being,
You are safe here,
Open and receptive,
Just listen,
Just hear.
For our minds are like the sky.
Our minds are vast and deep and expansive and wide.
And our thoughts and emotions are merely like the clouds that pass through the expansive nature of the sky.
The sky is not bothered by heavy clouds,
Storm clouds.
And it doesn't cling if there's a rainbow.

And perhaps offering yourself some appreciation for giving yourself this time.
I invite you to take a nice deep breath through the nose.
Filling the body up all the way to the top,
Holding it for a moment and then sighing it out as you move your shoulders and your wrists.
Coming back into the room now.

Beautiful but there was an issue with the sound levels. Jana’s voice was too low and I had to keep readjusting the volume to hear it. Please post more with better sound balance. Thanks!!!
