This is a meditation called take care of your etkesuit.
So sit or lie down for this one.
Take a moment to settle.
Close your eyes.
And if you haven't seen the movie Men in Black or can't remember what I mean by etkesuit,
I'll just explain.
So an alien arrives,
Lands on earth.
Edgar,
Unfortunately,
Has to give up his life so that the alien can use his body as a suit while being on earth.
And when Edgar's wife sees him again,
She clearly detects something's off.
And when she later tries to explain it,
She says it was like something was wearing Edgar,
Like an etkesuit.
So you can compare that to your body here on earth.
You're wearing it to move around here,
Just like he was.
And this suit,
It works.
It's actually designed to be here.
But it only works optimally if you take good care of it.
We sometimes ignore our etkesuit needs,
And when we do that,
Things start to go wrong.
Just like with the etkesuit in the movie.
Without maintenance,
It becomes stiff and practical,
Broken down.
Breathe in.
Breathe in.
So as you sit here or lie here,
Try to see your body as some kind of practical tool,
A kind of machinery or a kind of vehicle.
And that kind of thing needs maintenance.
It needs fuel.
It needs to be used so it doesn't rust.
It needs brakes.
It needs lubrication and much more.
And now imagine looking at this suit from the outside as if you were a mechanic.
What would you adjust?
Are there any malfunctioning parts that should be checked?
Does it need lubrication somewhere?
Does it need more movement or maybe less movement?
And then feel your body right now in your entireness as you sit or lie here.
Maybe there are places where you feel stiffness.
Maybe in the joints,
The neck.
So breathe into that area and let go when you breathe out.
There may be places where you feel tension right now.
Let go when you breathe out.
There may be areas where you feel tiredness.
Breathe into that.
Where you feel restlessness.
Then breathe into that as well and let go.
All of these are signs that your suit needs some sort of attention.
And then feel your breath for a moment because right now it's actually your very best helper.
So take a deep breath in.
Not just into your chest but all the way down into your diaphragm.
And as you exhale,
Let go of whatever might be in there that needs to be seen and released.
And then when you breathe in again,
Visualize reaching even further down your body.
And on the next in-breath,
Visualize reaching all the way to your fingertips,
All the way to your toes.
So when you visualize like this,
Then the oxygen actually has an even better chance to reach every part of your body.
It comes in through the blood and the lungs and is transported in a split second to every part of your body.
So take a breath in and allow your entire body to be filled up with energy.
And let go when you breathe out.
And one more.
Breathe in,
Being filled up entirely with new fresh energy in your etika suit.
And breathe out.
And as you continue breathing in like this,
Visualize what you want to let go of that might wear this suit down.
It could be habits.
It could be unnecessary strain.
It could be old stress.
And now visualize how you want to use your body,
Your suit.
If it's not moved regularly,
It might become stiff like in the movie.
But if it's overused,
Things might go wrong too.
And also there's something about the fuel.
In the movie,
The alien pours sugar water into the tank and that works for him,
But it doesn't work for the suit.
The suit needs more and better.
So the quality of the fuel.
What would you like to give your suit more of?
What would you like to give it less of?
Now visualize how your suit will feel when it's smooth,
Flexible,
Well lubricated,
Like a machine that just runs just right.
Imagining it working at its best.
Feel how that feels.
Doing what you want to and long for to do with it.
And see it being strong,
Being capable.
Take a few breaths into that feeling and let it ground within you.
Feel the surface beneath you.
And when you open your eyes again in a moment when this meditation is over,
I hope you let the image of your body being your etika suit stay with you.
