Being With What Hurts is a guided meditation to support you in meeting pain with presence and compassion. Together we’ll breathe, soften, and gently turn toward what arises instead of pushing it away, creating space for healing and understanding. This practice invites you to honor your experience, reconnect with your body, and hold yourself with love in the hurt.

Hi my friend and welcome.

With this meditation we are going to be with what hurts together.

It might be physical pain,

It might be emotional pain,

It might be a person,

A situation,

An experience.

We're going to take these few minutes together and simply bring our love,

Our awareness,

And our presence to what hurts.

Go ahead and close your eyes and get comfortable.

Maybe that's sitting up or laying down.

Softening your belly as you let your breath expand up your ribs,

Your heart space,

Your shoulders.

Letting a full exhale move throughout your body.

Breathing in and breathing out.

Doing this at the pace that is best for you.

So often when we're in pain we are not fully breathing.

So bringing your awareness to your breath.

And then I want you to start breathing into what is painful.

Really allowing yourself to fully be with this.

In pain,

Whether it's emotional,

Physical,

Any experience,

We often want to push it away to suppress it.

Or we often just leave our bodies.

The image I see is like a floating balloon above our bodies.

So the act of simply being with what hurts is really courageous and really beautiful and often really,

Really hard.

So keep breathing and keep staying,

Being present with what is here for you.

Maybe noticing where you feel it in your body.

What inspired me to record this meditation was this overwhelming pain in my heart space as I moved through some energies with my partner.

It was so heavy and so painful.

And it was such a good teacher of how challenging it is to just be with this,

To love ourselves and to be fully present with what is.

Holding the complexities of our human experiences and simply allowing them to be.
