Hello,

Today we are going to do a meditation to explore the elements,

The element of earth,

The element of water,

The element of fire,

And the element of air.

And we will explore how these elements can be felt inside of our bodies.

Try to bring forward an open mind and just see what you can learn about yourself.

My name is Melissa and I will be your guide for this meditation.

If you'd like to settle into a relaxed position,

You could close your eyes or drop your gaze and bring your awareness to the places in your body where you can experience contact.

If you're sitting in a chair,

This might be your feet on the floor.

Perhaps you can feel your hands resting onto your lap.

Or if you're lying down,

Your back on the flat surface.

Just notice where you make contact with the earth.

And we'll begin with the element of earth,

The solid form.

Exploring how and where you can feel this solid form within your body.

Perhaps this is the structure and density of your bones.

You may be able to feel where there is a mass of tension or stress in your body.

Noticing the weight of your muscles as you relax.

Don't rush through the sensations or force them to be.

The practice is simply noticing what you notice.

Notice where and how the earth supports you as you relax.

The element of earth can help ground you when you are feeling anxious or scattered.

When you can feel the element of earth inside of your body,

Just take a moment to rest and relax here.

The most obvious way to feel air in your body is through your breath.

Begin to connect with how the body feels when it breathes.

Where do you notice this element of air in your body?

Perhaps you can feel the expansion and the contraction that the element of air offers your body when you breathe in and breathe out.

Get curious within your body for the places where you can feel empty space,

Where the air enters into your body,

The nostrils,

The mouth.

The ears can help you explore the element of air within your body as you hear yourself breathe.

When you are feeling stuck or stubborn in life,

The element of air can help you loosen things up.

When you can notice that element of air in your body,

Just take a moment to rest and relax here.

Shifting your awareness now to the element of water,

Tune into any sense of liquidity that you can feel.

Perhaps you can notice moisture in your eyes,

Saliva in your mouth,

Or the feeling of sweat on your body.

Maybe you are able to feel the fluid that flows from your heart.

Maybe you can feel the pulsing of your blood as it runs through your veins.

When you feel like you are holding on or feel stagnant in your life,

You can use this element of water to invite in flow and the feeling of letting things go.

When you can feel the element of water in your body,

Just take a moment to rest and relax here.

And now we'll move our attention to the heat or the fire inside of your body.

Use this element to look for yourself to see what you notice.

Perhaps it's the temperature of the air touching your skin.

Can you notice if there are certain parts of your body that feel warmer or cooler than others?

Observing any experience of temperature internally or externally.

If you have experienced situations where you feel powerless,

You can connect to this fire and this earth element inside of you,

The fire or heat.

And when you feel this inside of your body,

Just take a moment to relax and rest here.

Allow your awareness to shift to your whole body and spend a moment or two as you breathe calmly to just feel the four elements working together.

Working together to support and fuel your body.

We are earth.

We are water.

We are air.

And we are fire.

These four elements are always present in our bodies and always present in our world at large.

Give yourself the freedom to explore different ways of identifying,

Experiencing and honoring them.

You can gently shift your awareness back to the space around you.

Slowly opening your eyes.

Take a look around and see what you can see.

Notice what you feel.

Notice what you can hear around you.

Take your time.

And thank you for taking the time to meditate with me today.

I hope you have a wonderful day.
