Melissa Honkanen helps individuals and groups create and cultivate calm. She is a nervous-system-informed yoga and meditation teacher supporting people who live with high levels of stress and responsibility. Her work helps calm over-activated nervous systems so clarity, steadiness, and ease become accessible again, both in daily life and in moments of pressure. With a background in high-performance professional environments and over 10 years of teaching experience, Melissa offers grounded, compassionate practices that support regulation rather than pushing or fixing. Her approach blends mindful movement, breathwork, and meditation, and meets people where they are to support sustainable calm not burnout cycles. In May 2020, Melissa became the first volunteer in the NYU Langone Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine trial. Her experience was covered by NBC, CNN, The Wall Street Journal, and TODAY. She practiced yoga in the observation room during the 4-hour post-injection wait. The program director of the NYU Langone Vaccine Center later described her as the "perfect first patient." Melissa brings the same qualities she brings to her teaching; steadiness under pressure, careful judgment, and a deep trust in the nervous system that she now helps students find in themselves the ability to stay grounded when it matters most. Melissa is the the Editor of Yoga Love Magazine- Digital.
