These are the coronavirus times. Being is eternal despite external circumstance, pressure, and chaos. Here's another 'situationalist' practice made simple in the midst of busy family life, where a busy dad finds and shares the ease, peace, and joy of being. You can do it too.

Hey,

Karl Monson here with another meditation made simple.

We find ourselves in the coronavirus times and what I want to do is show you how to meditate efficiently and easily.

I know that's very subjective but I'm going to find the quickest,

Most efficient way for you to get into your being which I hope will become a useful tool for you in these somewhat challenged times and as a little bit of a respite and a retreat and a break from the sense of being challenged.

Life is going on as usual around us with,

In the collective,

Some extraordinary and that overused word unprecedented circumstances and influences at the moment.

Just to set the scene for myself here as I step out into the garden and you can hear life going on around me.

There's a puppy,

A dog,

My wife Louise is working upstairs,

There are two children playing not far from me,

There's a baby sleeping not far from me and this is what I mean about meditation made simple,

Made practical because I think it's important to be able to slip into,

Not slip into,

That's not right.

I'm going to make it as easy as slipping into hopefully with this practice but as simple as remembering and coming back to our sacred state,

Our state of being in an enjoyable and effective way.

Okay,

So let's do that now.

So get yourself a little space like I've done.

I mean I've just found myself the easiest possible space without going to all the bother and palaver of lighting joss sticks and getting me yoga mat out and all the paraphernalia that has been a luxury afforded to us in the past and just find the easiest place you can be.

We're just a little bit away from things,

You can still be in touch with what's going on but you've created a little mini retreat for yourself as you sit on a chair as upright as possible.

My chair isn't ideal but it's as good as I'm going to get,

I'm not going to let it bother me.

So I'm endeavoring to get my thighs horizontal and the upper part of my body pivoting on my buttocks and the puppies running past me and the winds blowing and I'm beginning to take all of these things into my whole awareness rather than singling them out for attention or need or any sense of emergency or demand.

I'm just slipping away from emergency,

Slipping away from panic,

Shifting from concern and anxiety and back into my body and as I say that I can feel my body landing on the chair.

I can feel my shoulders dropping and I urge you to do the same,

Just feel your body,

The weight of your body on your chair.

Let go and breathe out.

Feel your shoulders drop and any tension in your face and forehead,

Let that drop as well.

Let your guts,

Your stomach can be clenched without even noticing so just let that relax and let the sounds around you come like that car and that car let it come and rise and fall in your awareness.

It's gone,

It's going and other sounds will come and they'll go and they needn't be a bother to us right now.

So welcome,

So needed,

So good to connect whilst all the life is going on around you,

So good to be inside your internal reality.

It doesn't change so much,

It's just that we move away from it.

I'm a snarling,

Barking puppy that is our mind.

Just let it be for a moment,

No danger,

No problem.

It's just doing its thing.

We're doing our thing,

Being here in our bodies,

Right here,

Right now on the chair and that will pass that irritation like the thoughts that come and go.

I like the little puppy barking and they will come and they'll go and it will stop or it won't stop and you'll just allow yourself to have it there in your,

Not your world view but your landscape,

Your being,

Your landscape of being,

Your sense of openness and wonder and awe that we forget as we let ourselves sit in the middle of all of life in our being.

And you might feel metaphorical,

A real puppy nibbling at your shoe or your foot.

Even if you're not in any pain and no one or anything is in any danger,

Just let that be,

Can't we?

And we can just rest in our awareness,

Our sense of all that is,

Our sense of all that will be,

All that has been and being the being.

And get a sense of our greatness and a sense of our magnificence in the face of whatever is present in the world around us,

Not far from here but not right here.

We're not,

We're not there now.

It can wait,

It can be going on whilst we're here.

Breathing out and being easy in our being,

Feeling the air on our skin,

Clothes on our skin.

I can feel the life tingling in my lips which I'm not often aware of whilst all the busyness is going on or thinking is going on.

Just bring the attention now into the body.

Feel the air coming in,

Consciously aware of the air,

The oxygen coming into the nostrils.

Breathing out the lungs,

Pushing the belly out and down again.

Or out again as the air comes out of the body.

Shoulders dropping.

And feeling that ease of being alive.

Nothing to do at the moment,

Nothing to worry about,

Nothing to think about.

Just being here,

Being in the body.

Birds are singing.

And the little puppy has stopped with its nonsense for a moment.

Just enjoy that moment of pleasure.

It may seem like a brief moment but that's what eternity feels like.

And let's just be in this space of eternity,

Of freedom.

Letting all rise and fall,

Letting all come and go.

Feels good to be alive.

Letting all rise and fall,

Letting all come and go.

It's grateful for life,

Grateful for breath.

Worshiping all for this peace of being in the chair right now with nothing to worry about or do except be right here,

Right now.

Be fulfilled by that.

And be energized by that.

And be reminded by this peace and eternity behind all things,

All the phenomenon and stuff that comes and goes,

Rises and falls behind it out of this space of being,

This creative place from which everything comes that you can touch into as easily as this.

Pretty much any time,

Circumstances allowing.

But more importantly than circumstances,

You remembering,

You making the time,

The space to do it.

And checking in to all that's good,

All that's whole,

All that's holy,

All that's beautiful,

All that's love.

Let it wash over you.

And as you come back,

I open my eyes and I see my sun standing in front of me coming back into the world of things and other beings and Minecraft and Pokemon.

And we'll take her.

Oh,

Fantastic.

We're going to leave you there and we'll go back into the world of doing and all the things that we need to do in our lives.

And remember to take that place of being with you when you remember and when you need it to check in or just remember that sense of it.

Dogs are back,

The puppy's back.

And I'm going to go and look at Minecraft now.

Take care.

Bye for now.

What a perfectly imperfect masterpiece, as if the sounds of life were placed there on purpose; to give the example of flowing with “what is,” and finding that deep place of peace within even with the distractions of life that never stop tugging at our attention. The sound of the cars driving by morph into the sound of ocean waves. Simple, meaningful…

I love how you used the external sounds of the recording environment as part of the meditation. This is really well done. Thank you.
