Welcome,
And I hope that each one of you will come to find peace within yourself.
Today,
I just want to talk a little bit about taking time to get in touch with your breath.
If you've listened to some of my other lessons,
You know that I advocate getting in touch with your breath multiple times a day,
Taking advantage of all the little pauses in your day,
Taking those pauses that we all have and making something good out of them.
And the more you practice,
The better you get.
Close your eyes now.
And let's pretend that this is one of those pauses in your day.
It doesn't matter if you're sitting,
Standing or lying down.
All that does matter is that you feel comfortable in this moment.
And as you start to relax,
Take a breath in through your nose and let it out through your mouth,
Letting out a sigh.
Do it again.
Now just breathe as you normally do and don't force anything.
Breathe in and feel a calming energy flow into you as you begin to relax.
Relax your face.
Unclench your jaw.
Unfurl your brow.
Relax your neck.
Maybe you'd like to shake out your arms and hands and just let them fall comfortably.
If you're in a public place,
You might not want to shake too violently so anyone gets alarmed.
Let your shoulders drop.
Just let your body sag.
Ease any tension you feel in your chest or belly.
Let your legs and feet relax.
And as you begin to relax,
Let's really focus on our breath.
Allow your breath to flow naturally,
Breathing in and breathing out.
And as you breathe,
Just observe each breath.
See how your body just naturally breathes in and breathes out.
Just observe it.
No need to control or regulate your breath.
Just let your body do what it does.
And just continue to breathe at your own pace,
Breathing in and breathing out.
This is your time.
It's three minutes you snatch for yourself while you're in the doctor's waiting room or waiting in the car for your partner to come out of the store or waiting for the item you put in the microwave.
Breathing in and breathing out,
One breath at a time.
You're calm and relaxed and just breathing.
Just breathe.
And rather than waste this present moment listening to the radio or watching your food revolve around the microwave,
You're taking this moment for yourself to make yourself a little calmer,
A little more peaceful,
A little more tranquil.
These are the moments of meditation practice that can add up and provide so many benefits in your life.
Dealing with pain,
Problems sleeping,
Problems with anxiety,
Intention and so much more.
And if you get in the habit of snatching these moments for yourself throughout the day,
You will be amazed.
Just breathing in and breathing out,
One breath at a time.
Now,
As we come to a close,
Open your eyes and come back into the room.
Wiggle your fingers and toes and stretch and feel how good it is to be alive.
Take in a deep breath through your nose and let it out through your mouth,
Letting out a sigh.
You're ready to move back into your day,
A little calmer,
A little more joyful than before.
The time we spent just breathing was exactly three minutes.
And you have countless moments in your day just like this one.
Take them for yourself.
I hope this has been a beneficial and calming session.
Till next time.
