Welcome to this Protective Light Meditation,
A practice to help you feel both relaxed and embodied in your physical being.
In this meditation we will tap into the energetic body through a body scan and guided imagery to create a protective shield of light.
This meditation is suitable for all levels of experience.
So find a comfortable and quiet place to sit or lie down and let's begin.
Start by taking a few deep calming breaths.
Inhale through your nose and as you exhale through your mouth begin to release any tension.
Let go of any thoughts about the day or thoughts about what you will do next.
Let each breath ground you back to the present moment.
Now become aware of your physical body.
Notice how you're sitting or lying down.
Notice where your hands are placed.
Feel the points of contact between your body and the surface beneath you.
With each out breath allow your body to relax and soften,
Feeling yourself supported and held by gravity.
Now imagine a ball of light hovering right above your body.
This light represents your energetic shield,
A protective force that surrounds and supports you.
You are safe with this light.
It holds you in its embrace.
Begin to imagine the color.
Imagine its texture.
Imagine its temperature,
Its feel.
Imagine its shape.
Imagine,
Does it make a sound?
Imagine,
Does it have a smell?
And now holding this imagery in your mind,
Focus your attention on the toes.
Feel the light entering and enveloping your toes like a warm embrace.
As you breathe,
Sense any areas of tension in your toes.
Imagine the light melting away any discomfort,
Leaving only relaxation.
Now bring your awareness to your feet.
The light continues to gently wrap around the feet.
Let go of any stress in your feet and allow the light to soothe and refresh them.
Move your attention up into the ankles and the calves.
Feel the light encompassing these areas,
Providing a sense of security and calm.
Notice any sensations in the lower legs and let the light ease any discomfort.
And do not try to force any change.
Rather focus on receiving the light in whatever way it desires.
Continue scanning through your knees and thighs,
Letting the light embrace your entire lower body.
As you breathe,
Imagine the light melting away any lingering tension or unease.
Now bring your awareness into the hips and pelvis.
Feel the warmth of the protective light surrounding this area.
Allow it to release any stress or tightness,
Creating a sense of comfort and ease.
Now shift your focus to your abdomen and lower back.
The light continues to envelop you,
Soothing any areas of tension.
Breathe into these spaces,
Feeling them relax and soften.
Now guide your attention to the chest and upper back.
Sense the light surrounding your heart and lungs.
As you breathe deeply,
Imagine any worries or burdens dissolving in the light,
Leaving you with a profound sense of calm.
Continue to scan the shoulders,
Arms,
And hands.
The light gently embraces these areas,
Melting away any stress or tension.
Feel the light restoring a sense of comfort and relaxation within.
Finally move your attention around to the neck and the head.
The light surrounds your neck,
Allowing any tension to just dissolve.
Imagine the light bathing your head,
Clearing the mind,
And bringing a deep sense of tranquility.
Now envision the light expanding outward from the whole body.
As it's growing,
It's creating a protective shield that surrounds you entirely.
This shield acts as a barrier,
Guarding your energy and well-being,
Keeping you safe and contained within.
As you breathe,
Imagine the shield glowing even brighter,
Radiating warmth and safety.
Any unwanted energy is deflected from this shield,
Allowing in only compassion,
Stillness,
And ease.
Rest here in feeling the light,
Feeling safe.
As we begin to conclude this meditation,
Take a moment to express gratitude for the sense of protection and relaxation you have cultivated.
Feel your energetic shield encompassing you,
Creating a haven of peace.
Let yourself rest in pure awareness of the energetic body.
No judgment,
No need for change,
Simply witnessing your being.
When you're ready,
Gently open your eyes.
Take a moment to reorient yourself to your surroundings.
Carry this feeling of protection and embodiment with you as you go about your day,
Knowing that you can always return to this meditation whenever you need to access your protective light.
