And into the forest I go to lose my mind and find my soul.
There's a quiet wisdom in the earth in the way that it holds,
In the way that it gives,
In the way that it simply is.
And when we slow down enough to feel it,
You remember that you are not separate from it.

And let us begin by finding a comfortable position,
Either sitting or lying down.
And let your body soften into the support beneath you.
Close down your eyes and take a slow,
Steady breath in through the nose.
And a long,
Unhurried breath out.
Again,
Inhale.
And exhale.
Allow your shoulders to drop,
The space between your eyes to soften,
Your jaw to unclench.
And bring your awareness to the ground beneath you.
Even if you are indoors,
Imagine the layers below.
The floor,
The foundation,
Down to the soil,
Cool and steady and alive.
And picture the earth holding you.
With your next breath in,
Imagine roots extending from your body,
From your legs and your feet,
Down,
Down into the earth.
Allow them to softly and gently reach deeper and deeper through the soil.
Let them spread and anchor you.
And as these roots grow deeper into this earth that is steady and holding you,
Allow the earth to offer something back.
Allow its quiet,
Steady energy that is ancient and grounding and calm to rise up through those roots and back into your body.
Rising through your legs,
Up into your belly and your chest,
Resting in your heart space.
This energy that the earth gives you is unmovable and steadfast like the mountains.
It is regal and resolute like the trees and yet bends and sways with the wind without breaking.
And now bring your awareness upward to the sky and imagine the sunlight above you.
This energy is warm and gentle.
Its golden rays touching your face and warming your skin.
With each breath,
Allow that light to pour into you.
Warming your chest and softening your heart.
Lighting something quiet and alive inside you.
And now in this moment,
You are both.
You are rooted deep in the earth and you are open to the light above.
You are grounded and lifted.
You are held and you are growing.
Rest here for a moment.
Breathing in earth and light.
And feel as your body begins to remember what it feels like to belong to something bigger.
Breathe in and remember roots below,
Sun above,
And breath in between.
Now slowly begin to bring your awareness back into the space that you are in.
Softly open your eyes and take one deep breath.
In one more deep breath.
And exhale.
And on this day that we honor the earth,
Carry this message with you.
You are supported.
You are connected.
And you are a part of the living and breathing earth.
