Feel grounded, centered, and connected to the Earth with this 12-minute relaxing meditation. New or a veteran of Chakra (energy swirls) language, you will glow with the beautiful red-color energy sustaining you. Please be seated for this meditation on a firmer cushioned chair/edge of the chair, so your back stays aligned (like a tree). Sitting lotus style works too! Enhance your experience by holding a rock or earth crystal in one of your hands, infusing the memory of the calming imagery into this piece, so that when you look at it later or hold it, you can re-capture the grounding effects.

Welcome to the Chakra One grounding meditation tree of life.

Begin by taking a deep breath in and letting it all out.

Pulling your attention away from the outer world and begin to focus on your inner world,

The energy body.

Your back is straight but relaxed,

Feeling the crown of your head reaching up to the sky while your sitting bones connect to the earth,

Starting to settle,

Imagining that your torso is the trunk of a tree,

Solid and straight,

Ready to sink its roots deep into the earth,

Bringing your attention to your breath,

Befriending your breath.

Imagine that you and your breath are best friends,

Relaxing the shoulders,

Jaw,

Mouth,

Tongue,

Breathing in slowly and letting go,

Releasing all the tension in your body,

Observing the inhalation and the exhalation as they effortlessly occur.

Notice your energy field as a whole.

Notice whether it's light or heavy,

Expanded or contracted,

Slow or fast,

Areas where it feels more blocked or more charged positively or negatively.

Simply notice how is your energy flowing,

Observing this without judgment,

Acknowledging whatever you find without trying to change it.

Notice any pain,

Fear,

Tension and allow your consciousness to meet this with compassion,

Saying to yourself,

Yes I know I see you.

Feeling that full duration of each inhale and that full duration of each exhale.

Thoughts will come up about the past or the future,

Not trying to push this away but simply noticing,

Oh this is what I'm thinking.

Gently,

Always gently returning your attention to your breath and to my voice.

Allowing your awareness to slide down your spine now,

Down,

Down to the base of your spine,

The home of your first chakra,

The place where your legs meet the torso.

What is the quality of your body here?

Does it feel expanded or contracted?

Does it feel healthy and full?

Does it ache?

Just noticing your feelings here,

The base of your spine and imagining with each breath the color red energy collects and builds up here.

Continuing to relax,

Sense the feelings in the base of your spine and your perineum,

Deep inside your pelvic cavity,

Your sexual organs,

Foundation of your body.

Imagining this beautiful sparkling red color energy here in all these areas and down your legs and your feet.

Feeling your feet solid on the ground,

Whether you're barefoot,

Socks,

Slippers,

Shoes.

Just feel your feet supporting you and where they're touching on the ground.

Finding your comfortable center of balance.

If you find yourself slumping a little bit,

Just gently straightening up your spine so you're sitting nice and tall,

But not too tall or rigid.

We find that balance,

Not too tight,

Not too loose,

Not leaning too far forward in our chair,

Too far back,

Or to the right or left.

If your eyes were open,

You'd be looking straight ahead,

So your chin is slightly dropped.

So we don't want to be dropping way down and we don't want to be looking way up.

Just relaxing our head comfortably atop our bodies,

Finding our balance.

And again,

Really focusing on your feet.

And I invite you to even push your feet down into the ground now.

Pushing through your legs,

Imagining yourself as a tree.

Pushing your roots into the fertile soil.

Imagine these roots coming out of your feet.

Pushing them out,

Down,

Out through your trunk,

Down through the building you're in,

The house you're in,

The structure.

Breaking through the foundation,

The topsoil,

Feeling for nutrients,

Water,

Stability.

Each exhale,

Imagine pushing these roots down deeper through the soil,

Into the solid packed earth below,

Into the bedrock,

Breaking through solid rock,

Probing deeper and deeper.

Your roots are growing stronger.

Always pushing down deep into Mother Earth.

Imagining your roots wrapping around rocks and crystals,

Getting stronger.

All the nutrients they need for a solid foundation.

See if you can even imagine pushing all the way to the center,

Red liquid core of the earth.

Feeling the heat feeding into your roots,

Energizing them,

Enlivening them,

Filling them with this wonderful,

Magical,

Hot,

Molten,

Lava core of the earth that begins to rise now through your roots.

So with each inhale,

Imagine this beautiful red energy rising up through the layers of the earth.

Your roots gathering the strength,

Becoming more alive,

Allowing this energy to build like a growing magnetic force.

Filling and pouring upward through the hard layers of bedrock,

The packed dark layers of old soil,

Into the lighter,

More nutritious topsoil.

Next inhale,

Just pouring up,

Up through the building you're in,

Up into your feet,

Rising up your legs.

Feeling this red,

Sparkling energy,

Energizing your knees,

Your thighs,

Flowing upward into your base chakra,

The tip of your spine,

Filling it with this red of the molten core of the earth.

Each inhale,

Bringing this solidness energy of the earth into all of your body,

Into your whole body,

As a foundation for your life.

Each exhale,

Reaching down,

Down your roots.

Anytime you want to push down again on the floor,

The earth,

Feel free.

Each exhale,

Your roots going down,

Down into the earth.

And each inhale,

Bringing up that beautiful,

Solid,

Grounding stability of the earth,

Up,

Up into your body.

Breathing as if you are the earth's energy.

Feel the density of your bones.

You are of this earth,

The core and support structure of your body.

Allowing your body to know that you are in a safe place,

To deeply relax.

Even more,

Letting go.

You can say this affirmation silently or aloud to yourself,

I belong on this earth.

I am connected to all.

I am at home in my own body,

Breathing in,

Saying these words.

I am safe.

I am protected and guided in this world.

Feeling very grounded,

Very safe,

Very relaxed.

And as we come out of this meditation in a moment,

Just knowing that you have contributed to your overall health and well-being by showing up for this meditation,

Grounding,

Centering yourself,

Taking this with you through the rest of your day,

Tomorrow,

The next week,

And so on.

And imagining,

Even as you're walking through your house or grocery store,

Your day,

Your feet are connecting to the earth with each breath.

Even if you walk quickly,

You can still be focusing,

Grounding,

Grounding.

So we can stay centered and grounded in the face of the busyness of our lives.

Breathe in,

Breathe out,

Come out naturally as you're ready.
