Welcome everyone to my series of Find Your Everlasting Happiness.
This is a very powerful and a unique meditation which lets you think and helps you find your happiness.
It's all on you now.
I will just guide you but you have to find your own happiness tonight and take it forward everyday.
So settle down in any comfortable position.
Make sure your legs are grounded and your back is straight and slowly close your eyes.
Take three deep breaths and settle down your body.
Do a quick scan of your body starting from the top.
Scan your head.
See how your hair feels like.
See if there is any tension on your forehead.
Release all your tension from there.
With every exhale release the tension from your body.
See how your face is.
Is there any tension around your cheeks and your lips and eyes?
Release all your tension.
Come down to your shoulders and your neck.
Observe how they feel.
Do you feel the urge to move them?
Don't do.
Just relax.
With every exhale release your tension and let your body do its own course.
Go down and feel your back.
Release any tension which is there.
Feel the sensations when your hips touches the cushion or the floor.
Just feel it.
Feel your arms now.
Start from your upper arm and go down to your elbow till your fingers.
How you feel it?
Do you feel any sensation or you feel any calmness?
Let go of it.
Don't move and let your body adjust.
Feel your legs now.
Your thighs,
Your knees,
Your feet and take a deep breath if you need and let go of all your tensions.
Take a deep breath if you need and let go of all the tensions.
Now sit back and think about it.
What are the things which gives you happiness?
Let go of your weight.
Now think harder which of these things will give you everlasting happiness which means if you have it if you just achieve this thing also you will be happy ever after.
Did you find anything?
Just look at them more closely.
You thought that your job will give you all the happiness in the world.
But isn't it the same cycle of new projects,
Promotions and appraisals every year?
As soon as you get one promotion you are running after the other one.
As soon as you finish one goal or project you are running after something else.
Jobs are very fulfilling but they are not permanent.
You need to keep changing your project and your goals to hook yourself and take you on for another day.
You thought your family,
Your partner,
Your kids and your friends will give you everlasting happiness.
But don't forget your kids and your friends will move on.
Some will be separated and death will come to us sometime for sure.
Human relationships are necessary and one of the most precious things we have but they are also transient in nature.
They will also go one day and hence do not give you everlasting happiness.
We think if we have money and if we can buy our favorite clothes and cars it will make us happy but we all know that it is just a happiness for few days.
The third time you will wear the dress or drive the car.
You are already bored of it.
Materialistic things gives us the least amount of happiness so there is absolutely no point in running out to them.
We often run after our passions.
Some want to try all the foods in the world.
Some want to travel the world.
I was one of them few years ago.
I thought travel was my passion,
My life,
My happiness.
I traveled Europe twice and believe me I don't want to go back.
When you have enough of it,
It just wore you down and you start to think I don't want this anymore.
Think about it.
So what is that which will give you true happiness?
All these things are transient.
They are outside your control.
What is the one thing that you have which is permanent in nature and is in your control?
Is it your body?
No.
It gets sick and it wears down.
Is it your brain?
No.
It is just a physical part which can be injured easily.
It is your mind.
It is your consciousness which is with you all the time.
The only thing which is permanent for you.
It comes with you when you were born.
It dies when you die.
It travels when you take a rebirth.
And it is entirely in your control.
Seeing the transient nature of things,
Buddha told us the reality.
The happiness and suffering lies in your own mind and not with things and people and situations.
Next time when you feel irritated with some situation or someone,
Think this suffering or this irritation lies in my own mind.
I can control my mind and let it go.
Next time when you feel that you really need to do this to find your happiness,
Remember that this thing will also go away in a few days.
It is the mind which controls your happiness and not this thing.
And try to find contentment in the things you already have.
It doesn't mean that we stop doing things,
Stop enjoying our passions,
Jobs and a time with family and friends.
It doesn't also mean that we don't feel the problem of others.
We just need to be aware at the same time that all the emotion comes from our mind and we can control it.
Don't let things or people take control on you.
Remember it all lies in your mind.
It is where you find your happiness and your pain.
Cultivate your mind to find contentment in all small things and goodness in bad situations.
Do this meditation each day till the time that your mind gets accustomed to it.
You will be happy.
Love and be happy.
My love is to all of you.
May all of you find your everlasting happiness in your mind and in your consciousness.
This is Shagun signing off for today.
