Welcome to this live where we will be discussing the 12 astrological signs of the zodiac,

The 12 archetypes and we're really going to speak about it in terms of archetypal energy.

I would really like today to be a conversation that means I would like for you to interact.

I would like to set up some kind of,

I don't know if game is the right word,

But especially for those of you who already understand what archetypes are and how to speak about archetypes,

Maybe you want to give us some popular archetypes and then we can try and match those with the different zodiac signs.

So where would that archetype fit in in terms of the zodiac?

Of course it's very useful if you know what your sun sign,

Moon sign and ascendant or ascending sign.

So who among us knows and understands what archetypes are?

Does anyone have a working definition for us?

Has anyone heard of this before or should I give us a definition?

Star,

I know there's 12 and there's characteristics with each type.

Well there are 12 archetypes of the zodiac,

But I think that archetypes in general,

Especially if we look at Jungian,

Let's say Jungian philosophy or psychology or theory,

Whichever you prefer,

There are more than 12 archetypes but certainly in astrology there has been this sort of 12 archetypal setup,

But there are different archetypal energies that can associate with the different 12 in the zodiac and yeah archetypes can be quite a thing to wrap my mind around which is why I've actually pulled up a dictionary definition and then I'll give my own personal definition where I like to see it.

I know archetypes from studying Carolyn Mays years ago and Joseph Campbell can't really remember the exact definition right?

So yes,

Carolyn Mays I know quite well,

Definitely working with archetypes,

But anyone who's working with archetypes and studying archetypes is essentially building on the knowledge of Jung,

Carl Gustav Jung,

German or Swiss German I think,

Excuse me Swiss German psychologist,

I think he died in the 60s,

Might have been a bit later,

But anyway developed quite a lot of quite a lot of works right up until the 60s.

So certainly a modern scholar in terms of modernity and this period of history called modernity and Jung was quite a pioneer in the field of psychology,

He was peers with the likes of Freud and I think he was a bit younger than Freud but he certainly was publishing books around the same time as Freud and a lot of words that were coined by his work such as archetypes,

Synchronicity,

A lot of language used in dream interpretation has become very popular words and definitions and there are a lot of people who have added on to his work,

Even the I'm sure many of you have heard of the book by Clarissa Pincola Estes who is also a Jungian scholar and wrote the book Woman Who Run with the Wolves and essentially she's touching on an archetype that was very much ignored by Jung who of course as a white man,

Privileged white man,

Privileged European white man sort of overlooked a lot of feminine or female archetypes and so the book Woman Who Run with the Wolves essentially is a PhD thesis sort of trying to bring in a more well-rounded view of an archetype she felt was very missing.

All right Amy it's a very good book and it has certainly got undercurrents that are very spiritual in nature even though it's actually a PhD doctorate thesis right and of course Jung was very fascinated by the paranormal,

By psychic ability,

By you know the sort of collective unconsciousness is another word coined by Jung and I'm sure many of these words are words that you've heard and have been very familiar with so 100% Clarissa is an important teacher so you know I'm just rooting back to Jung because that's kind of the seed.

It doesn't mean that these ideas did not exist before but he coined these words and he wrote them in a way and brought these ideas into academia okay of course they existed before so we can look at the pantheons of gods,

The pagan gods,

All as archetypal energies as well that form a part of the collective unconscious which is essentially that energy that connects us all through our subconscious and people such as Carolyn Mess are really building and Clarissa Pincola Estes and you mentioned someone else who I'm not so familiar with Joseph Campbell there we go.

Yes,

Women Who Run With the Wolves especially for women I do think that it is a must read.

It is an absolute must read.

It's quite dense but personally I found it very easy to read.

I think I finished it in four days or something it's a nice thick book.

Some people take years to read it but that's okay we all read at the exact pace that we're supposed to.

There have been other thin books that I've read at slower paces because just the density of the information right somehow archetypal information for me is just very easy to absorb because I've already studied so much of it so you know it's building on knowledge I already have.

Women Who Run With the Wolves it is a PhD thesis talking about the archetype of the wild woman which is essentially an archetype that was quite missing from the writings on archetypes before simply because all of that was written mostly by white men right i.

It's rooting right back to Jung,

Carl Gustav Jung.

So when we talk about archetypes it's important to understand that we're using a word that was coined by Carl Gustav Jung and that we are dealing with psychology and the theories and writings of Jung.

Personally I definitely call myself a Jungian scholar.

I do read a lot of Jung.

I read a lot of writings written by other people who have studied Jung and added on to those ideas in their own way,

Expanded on those ideas and you know and one has to be honest when we refer to someone like Jung.

He was a pioneer,

He had a lot of amazing ideas but at the end of the day he was in a time of that I would say the height of patriarchy and there are some underlying tones of sexism and racism just simply because of the time,

Not trying to excuse it but you know a lot of the work that has been written since has been in bringing in a more multi-dimensional view including the views of people of color and women and expanding the ideology to be more inclusive as well so that's very important.

Thank you for acknowledging the time period and bringing in the full story of history and nursery.

You know I think it's exceptionally important especially as a a white body to look very honestly at the self and the history and the perspective that history has been greatly written from which is very much a European Westernized point of view which is inherently racist and I do think it's important as a white-bodied person to interrogate the sort of ideas we've been taught because a lot of them,

You know a lot of how we've been programmed to be is actually it's actually subtly racist and subtly violent towards people and you know for example as a woman we've even learned to be subtly violent towards ourselves right and it's about this sort of internalized policeman that happens that comes in and likewise there's a lot of writing speaking and of course I can't speak for people of color but there are a lot of people of color who have written about a similar experience in terms of that internalized policeman who polices and oppresses and puts down and it's a very deep unlearning process that we must move through as a collective so I think that's very very important and yes I'm being a little bit political but I also feel that this is a spiritual undertaking and I think that we are inherently political bodies because politics is literally the the distribution of power and power affects all of us internally,

Spiritually,

Emotionally,

Mentally and yeah very important to to mention these things.

I hadn't noticed that myself but thank you for pointing that out but I love the framework you just used for approaching his work,

100% so we can still use some of the great ideas that Jung has posed while acknowledging where we are in the future and I think that's a really important thing where he was quite problematic and essentially very narrow-minded but that you know that was the lens he was looking through so we can bring in other lenses and use the tools,

The vocabulary and redefine so this is what a lot of people are doing and I think Clarissa Pinkola Estes is one of the best that I've read.

I read everything with a pinch of salt so more to find pieces of info that resonate with me and I can learn from.

I think we should always do that I think if we take personal offense to the readings then it can be a very not a nice experience for us right and I think it's also very important for us to acknowledge every single book that exists in every single library academic or not right is written by a person who is inherently biased and has a point of view right so just because it's written in a book does not mean it is true it's someone's way of seeing and there are always multiple ways of seeing so searching for your own resonance very important task yes Ron Jung did his job for his time and we must do our work for our time 100% 100% so yes certainly as a psychic and spiritual person who is also an academic Jung and Jungian theory is a very very important field for me and of course as a person who is also highly critical and very much an activist in multiple ways I can also quite battle to sometimes read Jungian's examples you know he does some very problematic example work but anyway let's move on to the definition of archetypes so here on the Google dictionary we have a very typical example of a certain person or thing okay he was the archetype of the old style football club chairman right this is the example we use in a sentence so we can say the archetype of and pretty much plays any archetype right another definition is an original which has been imitated by or or a prototype right so this is when we're talking about a chair a chair has been built and then they're going to copy the chair right the archetype would be the original the first which is kind of interesting metaphorically in terms of when we look at archetypes we look at archetypes archetypes and any one person can take on multiple archetypes but the archetypal energy that that person is undertaking goes back to a seed right something quite ancient it's something that's been with humanity since the beginning for example we look at the archetype of the child or the archetype of the mother or the archetype of crone or the archetype of the wise right these are ideas and seeds that any one of us can take on and do take on at different periods in our lives and it is it is a deep concept it is a well-rounded concept it is something that has a lot of meaning and a lot of associations with it and it is something that anyone from any culture across the world unless we get so specific like the football example of course but when we boil it down to something like the mother the wise old man the father the child right these kinds of archetypes are essentially universal all of us understand these archetypes archetypes no matter where we are from as a humanity as a species it is something that is truly universal and you know i've i've personally written archetypal articles archetypes i've personally written articles about the problematics of the use of the word universal um hello pete welcome and this this is the thing because there are different cultures but truly truly the concept of mother we might have different ways different approaches different views of the mother but the mother is everywhere and everywhere she is nurturing everywhere she is life-giving everywhere she is child-bearing right so a truly universal phenomenon let's look at the psychoanalysis in Jungian theory it is a primitive mental image inherited from the earliest human ancestors and supposed to be present in the collective unconscious now i think that's a really great definition and please let me know if anyone wants me to repeat that but i do think it's important for us to understand what is an archetype before we look at the 12 zodiac signs and look at the different archetypes that fit into those signs so we can understand the zodiac through archetype right um the next definition also under psychoanalysis is a recurrent symbol or motive in literature art or mythology right archetypes of good and evil etc etc etc okay so it is a little bit more in depth than something like a stereotype so let's let's look at something like a stereotype a stereotype is something very narrow-minded it's often racist or sexist or you know it's it's a problematic idea about a group of people a stereotype separates while an archetype unites and i hope that makes sense to you now beautiful beautiful people now that there are 33 of us here um i would like to say if you feel called to donate participating in a little bit of a game maybe you would like to list some archetypes archetypal energies and then we will attempt to link them to something in the 12 zodiac signs i mean i could just list like speak about aries through to pisces but that feels just a little bit boring right so anyone got archetypes that they can list anyone got archetypes let's go what about the mother right does anyone know which of the zodiac signs may be the mother all right the saboteur kerry it's a great archetype and it's a great reference and the saboteur is actually present in every single person and every single zodiac sign because of course all of us have an aspect that is empowering and all of us have the part that sabotages right so that will be present in every single one it will show up in different ways for each of the zodiac signs which we could potentially look into and kimberly cancer pete virgo star virgo and corelia cancer as mother those are all excellent guesses virgo is yes you can definitely say virgo is archetype of mother i know virgo more as the archetype of service but mother is of course service cancer is absolutely mother cancer rules the breasts and the womb and the stomach the midriff and yes cancer is absolutely the archetype of mother also the archetype of homemaker which of course interlinks with archetype of mother um yes virgo i would say it's a great guess as well and i would also say tourists can be a mother archetype as well right nurturing caring earth mother kind of energy um beautiful beautiful gloria venus well venus is feminine 100 so venus is a planet not a zodiac sign but venus rules torus and libra and venus is very much about love so there is a nice association with mother there jody the hero the hero that's a nice one so i would say that the hero could fit in with aries right aries which i i see sort of as a leader or the warrior um i would say that would be a nice hero archetype um no worries jody yes cool earthy vibe right very practical very grounded they don't overreact until they do overreact but they're mountains of patients right torus has mountains of patients and then once they've spoken four million times and they've and they've had enough then it's like that temper can be phenomenal right 100 let me see if there is another archetype suggestion that i missed the adventurer yes d that's a great one does anyone want to guess which of the zodiac would be the adventurer um and amy is saying the magician and would anyone like to guess who would be the magician i can think of at least two pete's guessing leo for the adventurer you know leo can be adventurous but i would say a closer guess for the adventurer would be sagittarius actually and this is the thing right no one's really right or wrong of course leo can be adventurous but leo is also a fixed sign so leo also quite likes to have things their way they're not quite as you know globe trotting and broad and shifting and changing as someone like sagittarius um aquarius as an adventurer maybe they would be adventurous in terms of their ideas and innovations and mentally expansion or mental exploration where sagittarius would be more physically adventurous and explorative um but again that wouldn't be wrong michael which one is capricorn so um capricorn as an archetype um hmm i would say capricorn is like the archetype of the business leader the hard worker the entrepreneur the slow and steady climber um capricorn is very structured and disciplined right the disciplinarian the um the organizer the planner right um and in some ways they can be seen as boring as well so maybe they could be seen as the stick in the mud um something like that um which i think is a little bit unfair um capricorn is also quite stubborn but not as stubborn as taurus let's just say sorry there uh capricorn is not fixed capricorn is um cardinal right leader um any guesses for the magician oh yes lots of mothers with the taurus um energy magician libra personally i wouldn't call libra the magician libra for me is more um the archetype of boyfriend and girlfriend or the archetype of wife or husband the archetype of relationships the archetype of justice christopher magicians how pulling rabbits from hats well we could say magician we could say alchemist we could say mysticism or mystic or we could say the sage these are very similar archetypes and they would um they would fall into the same kind of energy we are talking more in terms of the occult not stage magic but um more like um spiritual connection the ability to use energetic power right christopher scorpio is an excellent excellent guess um i would say yes i would say yes and there's another one that i think fits the description as well um and that would be pisces that would be pisces i mean gloria we could definitely think of gemini as magic in terms of having the gift of the gab right and because they just somehow they're not really magic they're just magic and they're not somehow able to juggle four million types of things at the same time um that could seem like quite a magical use of energy but if we're talking in terms of you know using a more mystical type of energy it's not really gemini gemini is more um about communication they are the archetype of the messenger they are the archetype of the storyteller the gossiper the socialite right um or the multitasker that would be the the gemini right um leo leo i would call the archetype of royalty the archetype of sovereignty the archetype of heart-centeredness right being heart-led and of course if we're going to talk about the saboteur aspect right that archetype that is in every archetype the saboteur that the part of us that sabotages in leo is pride right and of course when the ego is bruised and this goes for a lot of the fire signs less so sagittarius than aries and leo but both aries and leo can be very egotistical and when the pride is bruised there's that sort of retraction and the licking of the wounds especially with leo where it's like you bruised me for i am royalty right and it's just like they can get very very hurt they can be very sensitive um and it can take them a while before they can forgive they can hold grudges as well um so there is a leadership aspect to the leo um leo is also the archetype of abundance and expansion right they are ruled by the sun and it's very it's very much about heart so leo also the archetype of creator there's a divine creativity that is present with leo as well um scopio and pisces yes and i would say those are the mystics right the mystics and the the archetype of alchemist and a cult and then if we focus in a little bit more just on scorpio where scorpio is different to pisces right scorpio is also the archetype of sex sexuality and the phoenix right the archetype of destruction and rebirth the archetype of transformation right ruled by pluto so we're talking a very dark kind of power dark not necessarily meaning evil but can of course scorpios can be very very dark uh doesn't mean the light doesn't exist as well um very psychic very perceptive very intense very passionate um and then if we look more at pisces pisces is you know a little bit more dreamy in their spirituality and sometimes that dreaminess on the saboteur side can be um getting lost in delusion or illusion right so pisces is kind of pulled in two directions it's kind of like they're half here and half up there in the clouds somewhere far far away maybe rooted into neptune um dealing with some otherworldly problems that's going on in their mind right they are the dreamer they are also intuitive spiritual and mystical and the mystic much like um scorpio but they tend to be um a little bit more creative than scorpio and scorpio is the darker mousse if i've missed anything here in the comments welcome tp hello vj uh i've missed um which i'm not sure what you're mentioning vogo for i seem to have lost track when i was talking there yes christopher absolutely leo is very loyal um nancy i'm aries uh aries archetype of leader archetype of warrior archetype ruling the head right so their first source of ego self i brave bold and fiery um ruled by mars so very much about taking action getting things going starting things starting things starting things great great great leaders right that's the aries archetype and now we we're hearing some of the astrology coming through so christopher is a scorpio sun gemini moon aries ascending i feel a lot of resonance there christopher i'm a scorpio moon gemini ascendant and mars and mc and aries so also uh yeah great great uh you have a uh mars rule chart right so the movements of mars will be very important for you to pay attention to in terms of understanding daily astrology and what you're moving through on the day today and um blessings tp hello no problems no problems d is a sagittarius sun aquarius moon gemini rising same rising as me d sagittarius sun love that and aquarius moon i also love that so um sure you are quite a pioneer right you are quite a big thinker you really have this ability to see ahead to plan ahead to see um to actually to predict how things are going to um fall into place in quite an amazing way um sagittarius archetype of the philosopher the adventurer right um the guide the globetrotter archetype of restlessness um often they have those legs that jump up and down right the sagittarians um it's like that feeling of next next what's next right um we already spoke a bit about the gemini archetype and uh aquarius all right so i see personally aquarius as the archetype of the genius the archetype of the rebel the archetype of the um what is the right word it also correlates with rebel it's like um the misfit right the the misunderstood um simply because there's so many different different ways of saying it right um so the the misfit is the right word um simply because they're just way ahead of their time right um aquarius is also the innovator the futurist and the oddball okay so don't try and understand the aquarius um they're very quirky um and of course being ruled by uranus uh they would be beautiful if you joined the circle i do post daily astrology so what's happening in the stars every most days um if there's something interesting happening and my interpretation of what that is and we are providing a beautiful space of um connection uh coming together and it's a beautiful place to be in the stars and the stars are like the moon and the moon uh coming together energetic coming up and of course if people are enjoying the astrological stuff i will certainly do some more as well um yes yes our scorpio was your loyal reference i mean scorpio can be loyal if they've decided that they're going to be loyal they certainly are not cheats dramatically um but i would say loyalty is more in the realm of leo uh scorpio is very controlling and they do like to feel like they are the only one right so they're they're not into polyamory or these kinds of things normally or open relationships don't necessarily make them feel so safe of course there may be scorpios out there who are exploring those realms and but if we're just talking about the one-dimensional just the scorpio archetype generally scorpio wants to feel safe wants ownership actually of another person so in that sense you could interpret that as loyalty but it's more like a controlling a need to control a need to manipulate a need to and and essentially it's rooted in that feeling of safety and please don't be offended i'm also a scorpio moon which is a much more uncomfortable scorpio placement than the sun so yes leo does not take criticism well that is a very good um a very good mention sure they have very sensitive egos and they don't like to be criticized yeah virgos also don't take criticism so well the thing is virgo is always being so critical of themselves already that you know if you just give a little tiny bit of criticism for the verbal they've probably already told themselves that four million times and you saying it makes them feel even worse right and they enjoy being the center of the room why of course for the sun is the center of the solar system 100 leo needs to be the center of attention leo needs to be in the limelight they can also be the archetype of actor the archetype of fame right all of that ties in with that royal kind of energy as well yes let's talk about virgo i'm a virgo son myself so virgo is one i know very well virgo is the archetype of service the archetype of the healer which of course also interrelates with that idea of how can i serve how can i serve how can i be of help what would you like help with right how can i make you feel better they do exceptionally well in the healing arts anything from energy healing to western medicine they are the archetype of scholar right of course also mercury ruled they often go very in depth into information they know a lot they're able to share a lot of information and i'm sure many of you can see how virgo son archetypes really do correlate with myself they also tend to be hyper critical and obsessive about things so that's the saboteur side because being critical can be useful to a certain point and many of you will notice i'm very critical of many things and and that can be very useful right perfectionistic is another one very hard on themselves very organized but criticism right criticism when it becomes too harsh cannot be yeah it can be become toxic and then it can move into the point of obsession so that's virgo and of course as mentioned earlier virgo can also be the archetype of mother which really goes hand in hand with that feeling of being a mother and mentioned earlier virgo can also be the archetype of mother which really goes hand in hand with that feeling of in service and scholar and healer right tammy capricorn we did speak a little bit about capricorn capricorn is the archetype of the boss right the archetype of the ambitious businessman troponeer the archetype of slow and steady the archetype of the responsible one right so this can often give them an unfair reputation as being boring right they they tend to be very serious they really have endurance they've really got the eye on the long term right they're not they're not trying to they're not trying to get rich overnight they're really laying down those very powerful foundations okay they have this ability for focus structure and discipline the disciplinarian organized planner indeed underdog very fitting i'm not sure what you're referring to there now uh who is the underdog hmm uh i've missed the reference i'm afraid star virgo sun scopio moon libra ascendant star wow let me tell you let me tell you that's the same astrology as beyonce let's just let's just let you know bronze that kind of imprint is the the same as queen b goodness me um very powerful um and myself virgo sun scopio moon but for me gemini ascendant a very powerful formidable combination very very very powerful very powerful and i think we have spoken about virgo scorpio um in quite a bit of depth libra maybe a little less um i did mention a couple things but let's go into libra libra is the archetype of the diplomat right they're really about being fair the archetype of justice or judgment or the judge okay the archetype of freedom and responsibility in freedom right the archetype of partnership relationships um and they tend to avoid conflict so they can sometimes be those people who become passive aggressive because they don't want to have the direct conflict they really want to keep the peace and the harmony the archetype of peace and harmony right rev j welcome you did miss sarge but we can touch on sarge again especially for you um sagittarius is the archetype of the explorer the adventurer the philosopher the guide the globetrotter um they are the archetype of restlessness right and um honesty optimistic they're the risk taker and they have a lot of drive they're not necessarily good at finishing things off though right um for naz blessings and oh welcome you're a leo sun right we did go into leo a bit the archetype of creator of royalty of sovereignty of the center of attention um they are heart okay so um we've spoken about this saboteur the saboteur is present in every one of the archetypes especially in the zodiac and so that this is essentially the part of ourselves that sabotages us and leo is very well known for that pride or not being able to take criticism as mentioned earlier pete's also a leo everyone welcoming rev j in christopher can you spot or sense or recognize signs after brief interaction carla um christopher great question um i do pick up on the archetypal energies i'm not you see this is the thing we all have a full natal chart so i don't necessarily always pick up on the sun sign so i'll give you an example uh a dear friend of mine who i met at the beginning of the year and often when i start getting to know people i you know i quite enjoy trying to to guess what their sign is and eventually i will ask and when they told me that they were a vogo son i was very surprised and i said to them i would have guessed that you were a leo and then when i drew up their natal chart for them which they requested for me to do and by the way is also a service i provide um i was not so surprised to see that they are a leo ascendant and that they are very close on the cusp of leo and burgos son so even though they're in the burgos sun they have the ascendant leo and they're right near the cusp so they're still influenced by the leo sun as well so uh yes i pick things up but i'm not necessarily gonna be able to say to you you're this sun you're that moon and you're that ascendant but i'll say i definitely pick up on this archetypal energy which kind of makes me think there's strong cancer influence or strong taurus influence or strong aries influence because i can speak through archetype and i can pick up those archetypal energies of people so yes and no let's say it like that magela great question how can we burgos reduce self-criticism by practicing self-love by extending the kind of love tolerance and service that we extend to our loved ones towards ourselves allowing ourselves to be the um the receiver of our beautiful healing energy right and putting yourself first in terms of receiving that healing energy because actually even if you need to convince yourself in a roundabout way if you do that you can give more to others but if you're going to just keep giving giving giving giving giving and giving right to others all of the time in service the healer right and you don't have to be a healer of course in a very uh typical sense of course your energy can be healing just in terms of being an ear right listening to someone allowing them space all of that is very healing you give so much give to yourself that's that's the practice that needs to come in and and know that that's not selfish or it is a little bit selfish but what we want to be a little bit selfish right very important to love the self i hope that answers your question so rev you are sagy sun aquarius ascendant and gemini moon very beautiful i love this combination and with that aquarius and gemini rev you can deal with changes very easily you can deal with changes very easily you just shift you just flow you just shift and flow and change with the seasons as you need to that is amazing um we didn't speak too much about gemini so let's go a little bit into gemini it's the archetype of the messenger the archetype of the storyteller the archetype of the gossip um the archetype of the socialite right of course do they possibly cope with it or we don't know we don't know but somehow they do they also have this um this kind of mutability this adaptability to change their personalities so the gemini can almost take on any of the traits of the zodiac right because because they need to and if they need to be this or that or this or that then they can be that right they just have such an adaptable nature um you want to know your time of birth to the minute if you don't know your time of birth you can guess your time of birth and draw up the charts and see if it resonates for you i'm quite good at doing charts for people who don't know their time of birth if you don't know your time of birth we can do some divination to work out what will be the best time of birth to use but you can just type into google draw up my natal chart i personally like to use astro seek and you will be able to see your full natal chart there of course unpacking and interpreting the natal chart is a whole other thing and one has to advise against reading too much into the computer generated interpretations because of course one has to look at the entire chart overall to see where the strongest influences are and this really takes a a person right um but you can read the stuff just take it with a pinch of salt because it's generic write-ups for everyone who has a torus moon or a gemini ascendant or whatever it is fun as my mom was a gemini and she was so kind and gentle yet hardly anyone mentions her except me oh blessings for now both my parents are geminis actually and my ascendance is gemini so much gemini um hmm deep love for yeah deep love for your remembrance of your mother and that beautiful quirky funny um sociable chitty chatty gemini energy very lovable rev j i didn't get that memo each zodiac sign of course there are different ways to interpret and label the archetypes um yes those archetypes will be the same however how they relate to the person in the natal chart will be different because of the different planetary positions so for example if it's mars in that zodiac sign it will be in relation to how you express yourself how you take action how you assert yourself
