
Bringing Calm To The Nervous System
This Guided Meditation takes you on a journey into yourself. Begining with pranayama to cultivate calm and presence. Then moving onto cultivating presence in the body. Finally a visualisation of healing energy from the calming ocean is created.

Hello,
My name is Carla and this is a guided meditation to help calm the nervous system.
Begin by finding a comfortable seat or by lying flat on your back.
It really doesn't matter whether you're lying or sitting.
Really what matters is if you feel comfortable and your spine is beautifully straight.
Just begin to tap into your breath,
Allowing the sound of your breath to become audible in your head by lightly constricting the back of your throat so that it begins to sound like the ocean and so that you can tap into that divine in and outward flow of your breath alchemy.
Not yet trying to control the breath,
Just meeting yourself exactly where you are and just observing the quality of your breath.
How deeply are you breathing?
Are you breathing into your stomach?
Is your breath already elongated simply because you have begun to observe the breath?
This often happens.
And now we want to add a little bit of a count into the breath.
We want to breathe in to the count of four.
Just hold for a moment and then breathe out to the count of four.
Pause just for a moment,
Just that natural pause and in to the count of four.
And I'm going to let you count at your own rhythm,
But try to keep it nice and slow.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Pause.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Pause.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Pause.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Just continue with this gentle counting pattern,
Allowing your breath to equalise and allowing the counting to become hypnotic,
Allowing it to take you deeper and deeper.
One,
Two,

Four.
Pause.

Two,
Three,
Four.
Pause.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Pause.
And if at any point you find that thoughts float into your mind,
You can just observe them,
Acknowledge them and let them go,
As if they are a river of consciousness flowing past you,
As if their sound allows you to feel more and more calm and you just see as it floats away,
Floats away and just coming back to your count.

Pause.

Four.
Pause.

Three,
Four.
Pause.

Pause.
And now you can let go of the counting and just allow your breath to become hypnotic.
Just allow your breath to come back to a natural rhythm,
No longer having any need to control its rhythm.
But allowing that sound of your breath to still be your friend.
And I'd like you to draw your attention right into your body,
Really feeling the aliveness that is in your entire body,
Really feeling the presence of the energy that is behind your body.
Let's begin by coming to the feet,
Bringing your awareness to your feet and just feeling how alive they are.
Imagine that you can feel your baby pinky toe and the energy that's inside that little toe.
Can you feel it?
Feeling the energy vibrating in your feet,
Moving around in your feet and bringing your attention a little bit higher up towards the calves,
Feeling the energy behind the physical body,
The energy that moves the blood and bringing your energy up,
Your focus up to the knees.
Feeling the spaces where your joints connect,
Feeling the energy that lives in the crevices and spaces behind your kneecaps and now moving your energy up into your thighs.
Feeling all of the aliveness in these powerful muscles and the femurs,
Feeling that vibrational presence of energy and moving up to the hips,
The cradle of creation,
Your stability,
Just feeling the presence of the energy that is held in this container,
Moving up to your abdomen,
Your belly,
Feeling the presence of all of your organs,
Your digestive system and your liver,
Stomach,
Kidneys,
Feeling the aliveness,
The motion within the stillness,
Moving up to your chest,
Feeling as the air comes in and out and moves through your body,
Nourishing your body,
Feeling the movement of your diaphragm,
Feeling that vibrational presence moving into your shoulders and neck.
I'm just granting permission for the neck and the shoulders to release,
To relax,
To roll down the back body as we move our attention into the arms,
Feeling the aliveness in our hands,
Feeling the energy within the body,
Moving your attention into your head,
Feeling as the space between your eyebrows begins to vibrate and now spreading your awareness into the entire body,
Feeling your whole inner being as one unified force,
That space that connects you to source energy,
That energy that is beyond your physical body,
Yet within your physical body,
Feeling that true essence of who you are and really holding onto that connection that you have with your source energy,
With who you truly are.
And as you hold onto that feeling,
That connection,
I would like for you to begin to visualize an ocean before you,
The deep calming waves of the ocean are crashing before you,
Moving with your breath in and out,
You can hear the sound of the ocean in your breath,
You can feel as the energy of the ocean,
The calm,
Blue,
Cooling,
Resonating energy of the healing depths,
That energy begins to raise from the ocean and it comes through in a direct line and it begins to enter your body and it enters through the top of your head and it enters through your breath and it enters through the base of your spine and it enters through your feet and you can feel as this healing,
Calm energy permeates every aspect of your being,
Every cell of your physical body,
Bringing a profound and powerful calming essence over you,
Feeling yourself becoming one,
One with the calm of the air and the flow of the ocean,
Fully visualizing and if you may find yourself distracted by thoughts,
Allowing it to flow by,
Coming back to your visualization,
Coming back to your connection with the ocean,
Coming back to the feeling of the energy within your body,
The true essence of who you are and the longer that you connect with this calming ocean energy,
The more you become subtly aware that that calm,
That ocean energy,
That relaxation,
That is truly who you are and that any of the worries or stress of waking life is only an illusion and that you have the power to come to this healing energy at any point that you choose.
Now that you have cultivated this powerful connection,
This powerful visualization,
You only have to close your eyes and take a few of the oceanic breaths to remind yourself that you are peace,
That the truth of who you are is that all truly is well.
And just staying with that realization for a couple more moments.
And now just beginning to wiggle your toes gently,
Wiggle your fingers,
Bringing yourself back into the room,
Just gently waking yourself up.
Maybe you want to stretch your arms above your head to really wake your body up and gently blink your eyes open and go and have a relaxed and beautiful day or sleep with Max.
