Hello,

My name is Lee Anderson and welcome to this lovely little meditation for kids.

It's about a shining light inside.

I am so glad you're here.

This is a special quiet time just for you.

It's a chance to rest your body and your mind and to explore the magical world inside you.

So let's get ready.

You can sit or lie down wherever you feel the most comfy.

You can close your eyes if that feels good or just look at something calm like the sky or a soft blanket.

Let your hands rest gently.

Take a slow deep breath in and slowly blow it out like you're blowing a bubble.

Let's do that again.

Breathing in and blow out.

One more time,

Really soft and slow.

Breathe in and breathe out.

Now imagine there's a gentle light above you like moonlight or a friendly nightlight or a soft star.

It's shining down just for you,

Wrapping you up in a glow that feels safe and warm.

This light helps you feel calm.

This light helps you feel brave.

This light helps you see all the special things inside you.

Now imagine there's a little pond nearby,

Still and quiet like glass.

You walk over to it and look into the water.

Can you see your reflection?

That's you.

Peaceful,

Kind and full of magic.

But wait,

A soft breeze comes and tickles the water.

Your reflection gets a little wobbly and funny looking.

That's okay.

It doesn't mean you disappeared.

It just means things are moving and soon the water will come again.

Sometimes we feel wobbly inside too,

Like we're grumpy or sad or mad and don't even know why.

That's okay too.

Everyone feels like that sometimes.

We all have little parts inside us that we keep hidden,

Like the parts that get scared or feel left out or want to shout.

Those are like our shadows.

And guess what?

They're not bad.

They just want a hug.

They want you to notice them.

So now let's send some kindness to those parts.

Put one hand on your heart and one hand on your belly.

Take a slow breath in and a slow breath out.

And now whisper to yourself or you can just say it quietly inside your own head or out loud.

It doesn't matter.

I am safe.

Think about someone you love.

A friend,

A parent,

A pet or even a favourite toy.

What do you love about them?

Are they funny,

Brave,

Kind,

Cool?

And now guess what?

Those things you love about them are in you too.

You have so many special qualities inside you,

More than you can count.

So say to yourself now,

I am special.

I am strong.

I am me.

And that's amazing.

So let's end with a big soft smile.

And you can even smile with your eyes.

Take one last big breath in and let it go with a sigh.

And if you're ready,

Wriggle your fingers,

Wriggle your toes and stretch like a cat.

A cat waking up from a nap.

And open your eyes.

You did it.

You looked inside and found light and love,

Even in the shadows.

Now go shine your light in your own beautiful way.
