A meditation for healing after loss.

To begin make sure your body is in a comfortable position,

Either laying down or seated,

Whatever feels best for you at this time.

Once you're settled,

If it feels okay,

Place both of your hands over your womb space.

Take a moment to find your breath,

Breathing deeply in through the nose and out through the mouth.

See can you make that breath a little bit deeper,

Breathing right down into your belly,

Maybe sighing out as you exhale.

I'm doing this for a few rounds now.

It's seen for the last couple of rounds if you can send that breath right down to your womb space.

Now checking in with the rest of your body.

Grief,

Sadness,

Heartache.

These emotions tend to store themselves in and around the heart,

The chest,

The shoulders,

The upper back,

The neck.

Check in with those areas now and see can you breathe a little softness,

A little bit of release into those areas that may be tight and constrictive.

Remembering the power of your mind-body connection.

Just sending your breath to the areas that feel tight and just using your mind to tell those parts of your body to relax can go a really long way.

Breathing into the rest of your body now for any other areas that may feel uncomfortable,

Tight,

Tense.

Another problem area in times of grief are the hips,

The lower back.

So that may resonate with you as well and if it does,

Using the same practice breathing space there.

Now if it feels right,

Taking one of your hands and placing it over your heart.

So one hand now over your heart and one hand remaining over the womb.

Feeling into the space underneath the hand,

The heart space.

Using a green bright light here.

This light may be small or it may be big but just noticing it here in the heart space in the centre of the chest,

Glowing brightly.

Remembering and feeling the deep love you hold for the soul of your baby.

Seeing that connection to your womb,

Knowing the energy,

The soul of that baby,

The love for that baby will always remain with you.

Remembering and realising the power you have within you to heal.

The connection you have with others who also know this pain,

Who also fully recognise the depth of love a mother has for her baby the moment it begins to grow.

Feeling the energy between your heart and your womb space.

Breathing deeply into the heart space and as you exhale send that breath,

Send that light down to your womb.

Breathing in back up to your heart space,

Breathing out down to your womb and just feeling into this energetic connection.

Realising any sensations or thoughts or visuals that may be presenting for you now.

Taking just a few more breaths here.

Remembering to come back to this place within your body regularly,

To come back to your breath.

Bringing both hands now over your heart space.

Feeling the last few breaths maybe taking a couple of sighs to finish.

And whenever you're ready you can gently open your eyes,

Remembering the peace and love that you hold within you,

That feeling that you can drop back to at any time.

A gentle, comforting, and quiet practice. I really appreciated the slow pace of this meditation and the focus on being in the body through breath. It really evoked a sense of tender presence. It's been a year since my second trimester loss of my little son. And while I've processed a lot since the acute period of grief, I am still on my healing journey and recovery from the trauma. The heart-womb connection through breathwork practice was especially helpful for me to be with the feelings of both deep love and sadness. Overall, this somber practice validated the embodied experience of loss and provided a comforting space for continued healing. Thank you. 🙏🏾
