Welcome to the five minute meditation challenge.

My name is Lindsay Pearson and I'm excited to be with you over the next five days as we explore the five senses as a tool to bring us present.

Mindfulness is present awareness without judgment.

Over the next few days allow yourself to explore what is coming up for you in this moment without the need to judge,

Critique,

Resist,

Or cling.

Just noticing what is there and a willingness to be with it.

Today we will explore our sense of sight.

So before we begin if you are in a seated position allow this to be one of wakefulness and awareness with the back upright,

The chest is open,

And the hips elevated above the knees.

If you are choosing to take this meditation out into the world that is perfectly all right and we welcome you to do that.

Now that you have found a comfortable seated position find something to focus your attention on.

Perhaps a candle,

A sculpture,

A painting,

A building.

But with a light gaze and a soft attention focus on this one thing and begin to deepen your breath.

Allow yourself to take a long slow deep inhale and long slow full exhale.

Don't worry about the right or wrong way to breathe just simply find a pace that works for you.

Bring your awareness to the object that is in front of you.

How many details about this object can you notice?

Take in its shape,

Color,

And size.

If this is something that you have passed dozens or even hundreds of times can you become aware of this object as if looking upon it for the very first time?

What can you notice?

What can you notice?

And when the mind wanders off which it will simply bring it back.

Noticing,

Watching,

Letting go,

Beginning again.

Watching,

Noting,

Letting it go.

Noticing,

Watching,

Letting go,

Beginning again.

Watching,

Noting,

Letting it go.

And then expand your awareness to all the other objects around you.

Taking note of your surroundings.

Observing color,

Shape,

Size,

All the details.

As if you were opening your eyes for the very first moment.

Take in your world.

Spend the next moment continuing to deepen your breath.

Witnessing,

Noticing,

Beginning again.

Witnessing,

Noticing,

Beginning again.

Thank you for watching!

I thought as I sit in a parking lot waiting for my better half this would be the perfect practice to try! The only problem was is that it ended much too quickly, which is a good problem, right? A long strand of Spanish Moss hanging from a tree in front of me made for a great focal point. I look forward to trying the other senses in this series, thanks! πŸ™πŸ»

So quick. I'm new to meditation and I'm sure this series will help out with my concentration so that I can broaden my future meditation.
