Hello and welcome to this practice.
My name is Leila and if you are moving through health anxiety right now,
Trust me when I say this,
I know what it feels like.
I felt it a lot.
And I also know that there's a way out and there is a way of restoring a sense of safety within your body.
Today,
Start by taking some deep breaths.
Inhale through your nose and make an O shape with your lips and exhale out your mouth,
Making the exhale longer than the inhale.
Keep breathing this way.
When we go through a health anxiety spiral,
It is often because we imagine the worst case scenario.
But the truth is,
The worst case scenario is very unlikely and it will not happen to you.
So as we breathe together today,
Let's take the next four minutes to imagine the best case scenario.
Let's shift the narrative and imagine ourselves in the most healthiest,
Vibrant,
Most energetic version we can possibly be.
Take one more breath.
Inhale through your nose and make an O shape with your lips.
Exhale out your mouth.
Let all of the air go.
Allow any movement that wants to happen in your body to happen today.
Maybe roll your neck around.
Take a shake of your hands.
Start drawing some circles with your ribs,
With your heart.
And once you feel like the jitters,
The shakes feel complete,
You can find stillness in a comfortable seat.
We'll begin to drop into our bodies with three hums.
It's like an OM sound going inwards.
The first one will come to our sacrum,
Second one into our heart,
And the third one will push it to the crown of the head and out of our body.
Let's begin.
Inhale,
Humming into the sacrum.
Second one,
Breathe into your heart and send the hum there.
One more deep breath in through your nose and send the hum to the crown of your head.
Beautiful.
Keeping the eyes closed,
In your mind's eye,
Start to imagine what the best case scenario can be about whatever it is you're worried about.
Your body is healthy,
And this healthy body does so much for you.
It breathes for you.
It lives for you.
What would the best case scenario be for this healthy body in the situation that you're in?
Maybe it's the result of a test you're worried about.
Maybe you're feeling a bodily sensation.
Whatever it is,
Just take a moment to visualize everything going better than you can ever imagine.
The test comes back clear,
The sensation dissolves into something else,
The pain starts to ease,
And you feel free,
And you feel calm,
And you feel grateful for your healthy body.
Stay with this visualization for the next five breaths.
And as you visualize this best case scenario outcome,
See what it feels like now in your body.
What are the physical sensations you're feeling when you connect to this feeling of health and safety?
Maybe it's a calmness in your muscles,
A lightness in your heart,
A ease of your breath.
Whatever that might be,
Just take a moment to notice how your body communicates this with you.
How does your body communicate the state of being healthy with you?
Noticing this,
Take a deep inhale through your nose,
And open your mouth,
Let something go.
