Like the weather, emotions are always changing, gradually becom-ing something else. And body signals are your own “check engine light,” drawing your attention and giving you important information that enables you to regulate and adapt. In this sense, mindfulness will serve you as a professional—and in every other role that you assume in life. I find the words of teacher and author James Baraz to be a great reminder of this principle: “Mindfulness is simply being aware of what is happening right now without wishing it were different; enjoying the pleasant without holding on when it changes (which it will); being with the unpleasant without fearing it will always be this way (which it won’t).” - The Mindful Day, pg. 120
