Sometimes we just need a reminder that our awareness in the present moment is our true nature! My dear friend, Pierre Bensusan, has permitted me to use his track called ‘Sentimentales Pyromaniaques’ from the album 'Altiplanos'.

Welcome to In the Flow with Lori Albert,

A brief positivity-inspiring chat and meditation designed to uplift and motivate us to live our best lives.

Let's get in the flow.

I heard a song this weekend from one of my.

.

.

From one of the Twilight movies.

There.

I've said it all.

You guys know so much about me now,

Right?

Yes,

I've watched all the Twilight movies at some point.

Okay,

Fine,

Right?

Anyway,

This song was called,

Or is called,

I should say,

Possibility,

Right?

And first of all,

I love the word.

You know,

It's just the word possibility just,

Ooh,

It like excites me somehow,

Right?

So anyway,

Now you guys know that I'm a musician,

Right,

From way back.

So when I hear a song that's just a little bit different,

I perk up,

You know,

I love that,

Right?

And anyway,

So these lyrics talk about how there's a possibility that she had right now everything she was ever going to get.

Those aren't the actual lyrics,

But all that I have is all I'm going to get.

Jeez.

You know,

So anyway,

So the song,

Because I like it anyway,

It stopped me in my tracks for a minute,

Right?

Spirit was like,

And Spirit does that to me.

You guys know that I live a spirit led life,

Right?

So Spirit kind of highlighted to me that I think we,

Meaning me too,

Need a reminder that there is always possibility.

We are possibility.

We are as humans.

We are possibility.

When you think about that,

We are possibility.

When we sit,

Now when I first,

When I said that,

I stopped,

Right?

So when we sit in the present moment and just stop,

Just stop,

We are reminded that the whole world is ahead of us.

The whole world is ahead of us.

We are hope.

We are possibility.

And if we allow ourselves to just be in the present moment and feel all the beautiful emotions like love and joy,

This is what hope is.

And this is where possibility is born.

Right?

So if we take the time to be with ourselves and be in the present moment,

We begin to feel the hope and where there is hope,

There is the possibility,

Right?

So how do we sit in the present moment?

We are all so busy.

And I get that.

I get that.

We all have so,

So much going on in our lives individually.

But you know what?

When we take the time to truly and earnestly sit and contemplate being right here,

Right now,

The world then begins to open up to us.

I love that.

I get so excited by that concept because we need that reminder.

It is our true nature to sit in the present moment.

Our nature is to be in the present moment,

But society doesn't sometimes allow for that.

Right?

We are all so busy moving forward and planning the future,

Which is great.

It's good to do that,

Right?

But sometimes then we tend to forget to go back to our nature,

Our natural state of being and be in the present moment.

Be here now.

How often do you find yourself at a gathering?

Right?

Okay,

So seriously,

You find yourself at a gathering and you're so busy,

Worried about,

Oh my gosh,

Who do I need to talk to?

Or do I look okay?

What about my clothes and my hair?

Am I okay?

You know that you worry so much about that stuff that you aren't in the present moment.

I actually,

And I've talked about this before,

But I went to a gathering and Stevie Wonder was there and he got up to the piano and started playing.

And if I hadn't been in the present moment,

If I hadn't been taking it all in at that particular moment,

And it's funny because I actually,

Before he got up to play,

I was like sitting there,

You know,

Like,

Oh,

What am I doing?

Right?

He gets up to play and had I not been in that present moment,

I grabbed my daughter and we ran over and we're standing five feet from him.

And that moment,

Talk about being present.

Being present,

I didn't care at that moment.

I didn't care who else was around.

I was in the moment listening to him play the piano.

I mean,

Oh my God.

Right?

But had I not been in the present moment,

I would have missed that joy.

I mean,

I was crying.

He obviously,

I mean,

If you know Stevie Wonder,

As you know,

He's an amazing pianist.

He's an amazing musician.

Right?

I was literally crying.

Like tears were running down my,

My cheeks because that's how you can be when you sit in the present moment.

Right?

In all the years I've been studying spirituality,

I've taught myself and I'm still teaching myself how to balance this.

Right?

And I'm pretty good at stopping myself in any situation and just being like the situation I just described.

Right?

Our mantra that we're going to sit in today and I invite you to take this mantra with you the rest of the day and you can just kind of say it to yourself.

Right?

I love it.

Some prati hum,

Some prati,

Do it with the trill.

Some prati hum.

That's Sanskrit for my awareness in the present moment is my true nature.

And it is.

If you look back at like the stone ages when they didn't have,

I mean they had distractions certainly but I feel like that they were able to be more present than,

Than we were.

Now granted,

You know,

It was probably one of my past lives,

I don't know,

But we're so society driven and all of that.

Right?

Deepak Chopra about this mantra,

Deepak Chopra says,

This mantra reminds us that our true self is ever present awareness.

Simply being awake,

Which I love that word,

Simply being awake in the now is the natural state of gratitude.

And it is if you think about it,

Isn't that amazing?

Some prati means now,

Like in this moment in Sanskrit.

Okay.

And so we're going to meditate on that.

But here's a little tip that I want to give to you guys.

If you find yourself throughout your day being a little bit maybe worried about the future or upset about something that happened in the past,

Whether the past is 10 minutes ago or over the weekend or 10 years ago,

If you find yourself being not present,

Say to yourself,

Some prati hum,

Some prati hum.

It's a great mantra.

It's absolutely fantastic.

So all right.

Okay,

So we are going to meditate on this.

Yay.

Right?

Okay.

So let's get ourselves comfy comfy and close your eyes because I love David G always says comfort is queen.

So you don't have to feel like you got to be in any special way or be doing anything special.

Just get yourself comfortable because we only do this for a couple minutes and you know what,

And then it moves along.

Right?

Okay.

So close your eyes.

Let's take a deep breath in being really present and aware and release.

Perfect.

Absolutely perfect.

So before we sit in the stillness for a few minutes,

Let's talk about gratitude.

What are you grateful for today?

Just off the top of your head,

Just start thinking them through.

What are you grateful for today?

And again,

It can be anything highly personal.

It could be as deep as the yoga sutras.

You could be as deep as that,

Or it could be simply the cup of coffee that you have sitting right in front of you.

There's no wrong answer.

That's what I love about this.

There's no wrong answer.

So now we're going to sit in the stillness,

Repeating our mantra for just a few short minutes.

Samprati hum.

I will keep the time and let's begin.

Samprati hum.

Samprati hum.

Samprati hum.

Samprati hum.

Samprati hum.

Samprati hum.

Samprati hum.

Samprati hum.

Samprati hum.

Samprati hum.

Samprati hum.

Samprati hum.

Let's start bringing our awareness back to our bodies,

Back to the present moment.

Samprati hum.

Let's take a nice deep breath in,

Very slow,

And release.

Namaste.
