Hello and welcome.
This is a meditation that I love.
It's called a mountain meditation and it's a guided meditation.
So I will be leading you through this scenario.
And all I invite you to do is listen and picture yourself as well as this mountain as the name suggests.
And what I love about this meditation is it helps you to be able to ground yourself in a world where things are constantly changing,
Where you're experiencing various emotions,
Various situations that may make you feel a bit unsafe,
Or that you're not in control.
And this meditation helps to recognize that that isn't always the case,
Even though maybe the situation is out of your hands,
You are still a person,
You are still of worth,
And you're still of value.
And so without further ado,
Let's begin.
I invite you to find a position that is comfortable for you,
But also allows you to be alert and attentive.
So that may be sitting down.
It may be lying on the ground.
Or if it's more comfortable for you,
You can you can stand and still be able to participate fully in this meditation.
So I invite you to find a position that's comfortable for you.
And begin to close your eyes.
And as you close your eyes,
I invite you to picture a mountain.
Perhaps this is a mountain you've seen before.
Maybe it's one that's new.
Perhaps it's only in your imagination and this is your mountain.
I invite you to picture this mountain from the front,
The back,
The top,
The bottom,
Noticing what it looks like.
Maybe observing the flowing water of any waterfalls and rivers.
Noticing any jagged peaks or smooth slopes.
There's no right or wrong picture of this mountain because it's yours.
Once you have this,
This mountain image perfectly clear in your mind's eye.
Imagine it coming closer to you.
Ever so slowly coming closer and closer.
And as it reaches a point to where it's about arms distance away,
You can reach out your arms.
You can embrace this mountain.
And so you do.
And as you embrace this mountain,
This place here in your mind,
You become that mountain.
With its tall,
Towering peaks.
Overlooking valleys,
Bodies of water,
Other mountains.
You hear this mountain with its tall,
Towering peaks.
It's strong base rooted deeply in the earth.
And here you stand.
And as this mountain now you notice that it's summertime.
The sun is bright and warm.
The plants,
The foliage that line the mountain are all green and flourishing.
You notice animals that scurry about.
And fresh water springs from small streams.
And runs down the sides of the mountain and streams and waterfalls.
And here the mountain stands.
And with time,
You notice that things begin to change.
The sun doesn't end up as long.
And it isn't as warm anymore and the temperature begins to change.
Rather than feeling that hot sun,
Now it begins to cool.
And the leaves begin to change color.
The vibrant greens become bright,
Beautiful shades of red,
Orange,
Yellow,
Different rich browns.
And your mountainside is dotted with color.
The animals,
They're still around,
But they scurry about,
Making preparations for winter.
The water still flows.
And here the mountain still stands.
Tall,
Towering over valleys,
Still rooted deep in the earth.
And with time,
Clouds begin to move in.
They cover the sun.
And the wind begins to pick up.
And at first,
Some cold rain begins to fall.
And with time,
It becomes snow.
And it blankets the mountain in a soft covering of fresh white snow.
The water begins to freeze.
And the rivers no longer flow the way they used to.
The leaves fall from the trees.
And they're left bare for now.
The animals are mostly gone now,
Hibernating for the winter.
And here the mountain still stands.
Still towering over those valleys.
Still rooted deep in the earth.
This lasts for a while,
But not forever.
And you soon begin to notice that the sun comes out and stays out longer than it used to.
The temperature begins to change again.
And the chill is slowly replaced by warmth.
The snow begins to melt off of your peaks.
The ice melts,
And the rivers begin to flow once again.
And water begins to burst from the waterfalls once again and tumble down the side.
Even the trees begin to change.
Tiny buds on the branches begin to bloom.
Until they're covered with flowers.
Pinks and whites.
Various colors and new scents.
And the animals begin to come back.
New birds fly in and begin to nest in the trees.
And here the mountain stands.
Tall and strong.
Still rooted deep in the earth.
And with time the temperature continues to rise.
But not too much.
The flowers on the trees are replaced by bright green leaves once again.
And you notice new visitors beginning to come and visit the mountain.
People.
Tourists.
Some locals nearby.
Coming to hike through the peaks,
To rock climb.
Some just to look.
And for some this is the most beautiful mountain they've ever seen.
There's nothing like it.
And for others that come,
They've seen better.
Yet here the mountain stands.
Still overlooking the valleys.
And the mountain ranges.
And still rooted deep in the earth.
Unmoving.
Unshaken.
And here you are.
This mountain.
This mountain who experiences changes in seasons.
Some are more pleasant than others.
Yet here you,
This mountain stands.
Rooted to the earth.
Rooted to the breath.
The heartbeat.
To you,
Yourself.
And now I invite you to allow this image,
This beautiful mountain,
To dissolve from your mind's eye.
And bring your attention back to you,
Your body here now.
Taking note of the feel of the chair.
Ground beneath your feet.
Your own breath.
Your heartbeat if you can feel that now.
And gently begin to come back.
Maybe beginning to move.
To shift positions.
Stretch the arms and the legs.
Opening the eyes.
Inviting yourself back,
Welcoming yourself back.
To this here and now.
And I invite you to remember yourself as this mountain.
You don't have to fully let go of that image.
You can keep it tucked away inside of you.
As a reminder that you are this mountain.
You are strong.
And when there are changes,
When there are things going on around you,
You can remind yourself of your root.
The breath,
The heartbeat.
The present moment.
You being you.
And here we are.
Thank you for joining me in this guided meditation.
I hope you enjoyed it.
I love this meditation.
It's one of my favorites and I hope it's one for you too.
And I hope that we can meditate again very very soon.
Thank you so much for joining me.
