Welcome to your guided meditation practice.
Get comfortable in a seated position of your choice.
Gently close your eyes or soften your gaze.
Together we take those three deep slow breaths to let any tension melt away.
Deep breath in,
Breathe into your belly,
Into your chest,
Let it expand.
And slow breath out,
Consciously relaxing your whole body.
And deep,
Slow,
Letting go,
Deep,
Slow.
Let your breath resume its natural flow.
Feel your body on the floor,
Sitting and breathing.
Make your inhalation and exhalation equal.
Inhale for a count of 5 and exhale for a count of 5.
Take a few rounds of this breath at your own pace,
Counting your own breaths.
Inhaling for 5 seconds,
Exhaling for 5 seconds.
Slowly drop the counting,
Allow your breathing to be natural and effortless.
I invite you to listen to a singing bowl and follow the sound where it goes.
Let the sound fill your awareness and see where it brings you.
Now can you hear some sounds around you?
Let those sounds fill your awareness.
Focus solely on the experience of hearing.
Pay attention to the present noises in your environment.
You might hear an air conditioner or a fridge,
The ticking of a clock,
Voices in conversation,
Distant traffic,
Birds chirping or dogs barking.
Whatever sounds you are hearing,
Pleasant or unpleasant,
Observe them with an open and curious mind.
Allow sounds to be as they are,
Without any attachment or aversion.
You are simply a witness to the symphony of your environment.
If you get lost in your thoughts,
Gently bring your attention back to sounds.
Observe them mindfully.
There is a beautiful quote by Mark Napole.
To listen is to lean in softly,
With the willingness to be changed by what we hear.
Embrace this opportunity to connect deeply with the present moment through your sense of hearing,
Listening to life around you and within you.
Embracing this kind of listening can deepen our connections with ourselves and others,
Expand our understanding and develop a greater sense of compassion and empathy.
