Happy Midsummer,
Beautiful souls.
The harvest is upon us as the days slowly shorten and we begin to prepare for cooler,
Darker days ahead.
Now we are in the midst of abundance,
A time of plenty,
As traditionally midsummer was the first harvest of the year.
This is a time of gratitude for the nourishment which has been provided by Mother Earth,
A time to appreciate the seeds we have planted in the fertile valleys of our mind which have come to fruition.
It is a time of gathering with family and friends and breaking bread.
In Celtic lore,
The god Lugh was associated with the harvest and a celebration bearing his name is celebrated to this day.
Lunasad,
Or midsummer,
Was celebrated as a harvest festival which included athletic games,
Ritual ceremonies,
And bountiful feasts.
It is celebrated today with feasting,
Songs,
Fresh-baked breads,
And fresh- picked corn can usually be found on the menu.
So many of us are blessed with abundance and have never known need or want for food,
Shelter,
Or love.
We can make this a time to practice gratitude for our many blessings.
Break bread with friends and family,
Express your gratitude to someone who's made a difference in your life,
Share your good fortune by donating time or money to a local charity.
Find some way to give back.
Harvest time is a time of plenty and thanks.
We try to remember to live simply so that others may simply live as Gandhi has said.
So now I'd like to share with you some midsummer magic,
A simple Lunasad chakra clearing to help you feel the soul-filling gifts of abundance and gratitude.
Sit comfortably and take a few deep breaths to relax yourself.
Now see if you can make yourself maybe 10% more comfortable.
Continue to breathe slowly and evenly while we complete the following meditation.
Bring your awareness to the base of your spine where your root chakra is located.
Visualize the color red swirling at the base of your spine.
Breathe in deeply.
Feel the vibrancy of the rich red color.
Say to yourself,
I am grounded.
My roots grow deep absorbing the fertile life-giving earth energies.
Now begin to move your awareness up to your sacral chakra located in your lower abdomen.
Take a deep breath and visualize the color orange swirling vibrantly.
Say to yourself,
As Mother Nature creates this bountiful harvest,
I too create my life every day.
The universe supports my natural creative state.
Now slowly move your awareness up to your solar plexus chakra located just under your ribcage.
Visualize the color yellow bright as the sun.
Breathe into this space feeling your sense of self,
Your seat of power.
Say to yourself,
As the sun shines its life-giving light,
I too radiate light.
My soul shines with sacred universal light and love.
Now bring your attention to your heart space.
Visualize radiant green light swirling at your heart chakra.
Breathe in and feel your heart open with deep appreciation for all of Mother Earth.
Say to yourself,
My heart is full of abundance.
My life is full of abundance.
I am part of the universal cycle of unconditional love.
Now move your awareness up to your throat chakra.
Visualize brilliant blue swirling at this energy center.
Breathe into the space visualizing the blue shining radiantly from your throat.
Say to yourself,
I honor my voice.
I nourish myself with the divine energies and release what no longer serves me.
Now bring our awareness to our third eye chakra located between the brows.
Visualize deep indigo swirling empowering your intuition.
Breathe deeply into this space.
Say to yourself,
I honor my intuition.
I know I am a part of something greater than myself.
I am energy in form.
I am abundance.
Now bring your awareness to the crown of your head.
Visualize a violet or gold light radiating from your crown chakra.
You are surrounded by an ethereal radiance.
Breathe in to this space and feel so deeply connected to the universe and all of creation.
Say to yourself,
The universe supports my being.
I am love.
Take a deep breath in.
Feel the air swirling down your throat filling your lungs expanding your belly.
Release your breath fully expelling all the stagnant air from the depths of your lungs.
Repeat this breathing for a few moments as your energies balance.
Now begin to feel yourself settle back into your body.
You may bring small movements to your fingers and toes.
Feeling how the flow of breath and calming balanced energies created during this meditation support your mind body and spirit.
