This meditation is an invitation to release the day,
To soften,
Unwind and melt into rest.
Take a moment to settle into your bed,
Making any adjustments you need.
Find a position that feels effortless,
Where your body is fully supported.
Take a long,
Slow,
Deep breath in,
And exhale fully through your mouth.
Let's do that again.
Inhale,
Filling your lungs completely,
Exhale,
Letting go of the day you just had.
One more time,
Breathing in,
Filling yourself with calm,
And exhale,
Letting go of what may come tomorrow.
Now imagine yourself as a candle,
Steady and warm.
Breathe in the warm energy of the candlelight and let it flow into your head.
Feel your forehead and temples soften.
The warmth gently releases the muscles of your eyes as they rest into their sockets.
It moves to your jaw,
Through your entire face.
The soft glow of warm light now fills your entire head.
Let the warmth spread into your neck and shoulders,
Releasing any tension.
Breathe the warm glow into your chest,
Down your arms and into your hands,
Melting,
Releasing and letting go.
Now breathe warmth into your belly and your lower abdomen.
Feel it travel down into your legs,
All the way to your feet.
Your body is now filled with the soft,
Glowing warmth of the candlelight.
Your body,
Like the candlestick,
Melting into the surface of the bed.
Feel your body filled with this warmth,
From your head to your toes.
Feel yourself softening,
Relaxing,
Whole and complete.
The quiet rhythm of your breath invites you deeper into stillness.
Now let the flame of your candle slowly fade,
Until only a faint glow remains.
The flame dims to embers on the wick of the candle.
As the candle fades,
So do you,
Into the stillness of the night.
