Hello,
My name is Kim,
And welcome to today's meditation.
According to Patanjali,
Who wrote the Yoga Sutras,
Yoga,
Or meditation,
Is the settling of the mind into silence.
Let's settle our minds into the deep sacred lake of silence.
Let's get still.
Find a quiet spot where you won't be disturbed.
Make yourself as comfortable as possible,
Sitting or lying down,
Keeping your spine straight,
Hands resting in your lap or by your sides.
Or if you wish,
I invite you to place one hand on your heart space and the other on your tummy.
Just make sure you're good and comfortable.
That's the most important thing in meditation.
If you're comfortable,
You'll keep coming back,
And you want to keep coming back,
Because this is a practice.
The more you do it,
The better it gets.
Gently close your eyes,
And take a nice,
Long,
Slow,
Deep breath in.
Hold it,
And slowly let it go.
Take another nice,
Long,
Slow,
Deep breath in and gently hold it,
And slowly let it go.
One more,
Long,
Slow,
Deep breath in and hold it.
Hold it,
And slowly release it with a sigh.
Now become mindful of the natural rhythm of your breath.
Feel the soft,
Natural flow of your breath,
Rising and falling,
Rising and falling,
Rising and falling.
Just breathe.
Anchor into the breath.
Wherever the breath is strongest for you,
Rest your kind attention there.
It could be in the belly,
The chest,
The nose.
Just feel the breath moving in and out.
Settle your mind.
Relax your body.
You don't have to do anything.
Just witness the breath.
Let the stillness wash over you,
And when you find that your mind is time traveling,
To the past or in the future,
That's okay.
Just gently and easily return your kind attention to your anchor,
The breath,
Moving in and out like waves in the sea,
And each time you notice your attention has wandered from the breath,
Gently bring it back.
It's okay.
Just keep returning your attention to the breath,
Easily.
Meditation is slipping into the sweet,
Deep lake of silence.
It is beyond good for your soul.
It is the place where there are no words.
Fully here and at ease,
Keeping your eyes closed.
Just rest.
Let your mind settle in the stillness and the silence.
Now take a nice,
Long,
Slow,
Deep breath in.
Hold it,
And slowly release it.
Just rest.
Taking your time.
As we close this meditation,
Feel free to open your eyes whenever you wish,
And stretch,
Slowly,
And thank yourself for taking this time for yourself.
Yoga,
Or meditation,
Is the settling of the mind into silence.
