Hello and welcome to this session on Ancestors of Spirit with me Keziah Gibbons.
Let's prepare for our work by finding our way to the place of the ancestors.
Allow your body to be supported.
Your breath to naturally slow and close your eyes and send your awareness inside.
As you travel deeper inside you find that deepest,
Stillest,
Quietest,
Dark and gentle place from which you can find your way to the place of the ancestors.
Imagine a beautiful thread in front of you.
Notice its colors and reach for it and notice its feel.
Notice how you feel inside as you touch the thread and begin to follow it through your sacred internal landscape.
Follow the thread until you find that it has reached a rich tapestry.
Somewhere in that tapestry is depicted the place of the ancestors.
Notice what it is like,
How it looks,
Any sounds or scents associated with it.
Step into the tapestry and enter the place of the ancestors.
You may wish to announce your presence to the ancestors and honor them in some way.
Perhaps by lighting a candle,
Pouring a libation or making an offering of flowers,
Words or song.
Notice how the place of the ancestors welcomes you as you do this.
There may be loving ancestors who are already present with you in this place.
Share with them your intention of connecting with your ancestors of spirit and invite those ancestors of spirit to be with you.
Be open to the ancestors of spirit even as you settle in the place of the ancestors.
You may find that it has changed or expanded to accommodate the ancestors of spirit and you may see an object or decoration that represents a craft,
Tradition or practice that is yours.
Or you might hear the sounds or notice aromas that are associated with that craft,
Tradition or practice.
Invite in your ancestors of spirit now.
Just send the intention that the space is open to them and let them be with you.
Trust them to reveal themselves in the way that is right.
You might be surprised at who shows up or you might find that the ancestors of spirit that you expected are present.
Just be present with them now.
Trust whatever arises.
Ask the ancestors of spirit to show you the essence of your craft or practice.
You might receive an image,
A sound,
An energy,
A sensation or an emotion.
You may wish to share with the ancestors of spirit something that you're working on or how you practice or you might want to ask them for guidance on something specific.
If you choose and if you're willing and able to make the commitment,
You might promise your ancestors of spirit to use your craft or practice in a certain way,
For a certain purpose or simply to the best of your ability.
Express gratitude to your ancestors of spirit.
Recognize what they did that made it possible for you to be on your path now.
Give thanks.
It's time to take your leave now knowing that you can come back to practice with the ancestors of spirit anytime.
Leave the place of the ancestors.
Stepping out of the tapestry and following the thread back through your sacred landscape to the space within you.
Notice anything which has changed as a result of your practice.
As you get to the end of the thread that is closest to consciousness,
Start to become aware of your physical presence and your surroundings.
Notice any sounds around you.
Notice your body and any sensations and start to make any movements that feel nice.
Take three deep breaths with the intention to come back to the present and when you're ready you can open your eyes.
