Thinking of yourself as a child can make you feel vulnerable.
This is a feeling I am all too familiar with.
The idea that we grow physically but our essence has always been can be overwhelming.
But it can also be healing.
We can heal our hurts from being physically small and choiceless.
We can hold our small hand and our now big hands and lacquer our wounds to glow a golden glow.
You small one have always been big.
You have always held magic.
Let's meet this small version of ourselves again and hold them just the way we needed and still need to be held.
I want you to get comfortable either in a seated or lying down position.
I'm gonna take three deep relaxing breaths and one deep inhale through your nose and let it out with a sigh.
Two deep inhale through the nose and let it out with a sigh and three deep inhale through the nose and let it out with a sigh.
We're going to set an intention for today.
Maybe you want to apologize to your small child self.
Maybe you want to give them some reassurance.
Maybe you just want to hold them and be there for them.
You know what you need best.
We're gonna settle in by feeling our bodies.
I want you to just notice how your body is tensing or relaxing.
No judgment,
No thoughts about the outside world.
Just here.
Observe yourself.
Don't change anything.
Don't correct anything.
Feel yourself sink closer to the earth or the mattress beneath you.
Feel your body falling,
Melting,
Relaxing.
Notice your breath.
The natural inhale,
The natural exhale.
It's not strained.
It's not tense.
Now I want you to relax your jaw.
Focus on unclenching.
Relax your mouth.
Feel your face relax.
Your eyes soften.
Your tongue relaxed.
Bring your shoulders down from your ears.
Feel that tension melting away.
Relax your fingers,
Arms.
Let your hands soften and open.
Relax your abdomen,
Back.
Allow your hips and your thighs to soften and open.
Allow your feet to fall apart.
Your shins,
Your calves,
Your thighs.
Feel again your body just melt into the surface that you're on.
Let's breathe that relaxation in through your nose and exhale.
Now I want you to picture yourself in a forest.
Picture the beautiful tall trees towering above you.
The sprinkles of light that are coming through the leaves touching your face.
Warm,
Glowing.
I want you to picture the breeze rustling through the leaves.
You can hear the birds.
You can see little butterflies fluttering by.
It feels good.
Feel your body,
Your skin.
Be in that place,
That moment.
Be with yourself.
Fresh air.
Now I want you to see your childhood self standing there right in front of you.
There's no age limit to this child.
You know.
You know you best.
Whatever you need healing,
That person will arrive.
I want you to see this child's face.
What expression do they hold?
How is their body?
What's their demeanor?
Look at their brow,
Their mouth,
Their eyes.
What are they telling you with their bodies?
Maybe picture what they're wearing.
Maybe this is a memory of yourself.
But see them.
See them there,
Standing before you.
But be patient yourself.
These things don't just arrive.
And now take some time to observe this child.
Look at all those things.
Read them.
Understand them.
What are they saying to you without saying it out loud?
You can feel what this little person is feeling.
There's no need for action.
No need to change or save.
Maybe the child is laughing.
Crying.
Maybe they're feeling bad or good.
Not good enough.
Maybe they are lonely or isolated.
Maybe they are even in pain.
But feel it.
Observe it.
Be present in what this child is feeling.
Take a deep breath and exhale.
In your mind's eye,
I want you to kneel down.
Get onto your knees.
Open your arms and let the child walk in to you.
Wrap your arms around this small body.
This tiny being that needs you.
And embrace him with everything you have.
Feel it from your heart center.
The love that comes shining,
Streaming,
Pouring out of you.
There's no judgment.
Only love.
There's no anger.
Only peace.
No reasoning.
Only affection.
I want you to tell this child that you love them.
Tell them that you're sorry that it has taken you so long to come to them.
Tell them that you're not going to wait this long again.
You're not going to leave them for long periods of time.
That you'll check in.
You're always there to hold them,
To bring them peace and to give them love and kindness.
Look at this child and smile.
Read their face and you can see.
You can see that they have needed your visit.
They have needed the security that your presence brings to them.
I want you to move away from the child now.
And I want you to wave goodbye.
And as you are waving goodbye,
I want you to breathe a deep inhale of absolute love.
And when you exhale,
I want you to release that burden that you have felt.
That you have been feeling,
Carrying.
Tell them that you will visit soon and walk away.
It is not childish to feel your inner child.
It is certainly not juvenile to feel their pain.
It is not immature to protect their fears.
In fact,
It is love to just feel them.
It's really grown up to feel yourself.
And very mature to work through these boundaries.
I want you to repeat these affirmations.
I am.
I am safe.
I am love.
I want you to slowly feel your body coming back to the present room.
I want you to wriggle your fingers,
Wiggle your toes,
Feel the air around your skin.
And I want you to bring your hands up to your closed eyes.
Put your hands over them and open your eyes,
With your hands covering them.
I want you to take two very deep breaths with me.
In and exhale.
And let's do another one.
In and exhale.
Slowly remove your hands from your eyes to allow the light.
I hope that meeting an old version of yourself has been healing today.
Next time,
We'll be meeting a future version of yourself.
Until then,
My dear one,
Namaste.
