Love Your Body Meditation
This meditation has you explore your relationship with your body so you can let go of frustration, discontent, and resistance and love your body.
Transcript
Get into your favorite meditation posture.
And start by focusing on your breath.
You can try and focus on the contact point between your nostrils and the air as you inhale.
Noticing the coolness of the air as you inhale.
The warmth of the air as you exhale.
You can notice the rhythm of your breath today.
Notice the rate at which your body rises and falls with every inhale and exhale.
You can notice where your breath is stopping today.
If it's stopping at the right time,
You can notice the rhythm of your breath.
You can notice where your breath is stopping today.
If it's stopping at the base of your throat,
Or if it's getting down into your chest,
Or even down into your belly.
Without controlling your breath,
Take a few more moments to just notice it.
And now I would like you to take control of your breath and try to take a few deep breaths.
Breaths that reach down into your belly as far as you can.
You can picture your belly like a balloon that you're trying to inflate with every inhale.
That you let the air out of with every exhale.
Try to fill it as much as you can.
Allowing yourself to take a few deep breaths.
With that,
You can allow your breath to return to normal without controlling it.
I'd like you to shift your attention to your body.
Take a moment to notice where you feel the day in your body today.
Where do you feel the weight of the day today?
Now,
I'd like you to bring to mind an image of your body.
Try and picture your full body standing in front of you.
In the front of your mind.
Picture it in as much detail as you can.
As if you were standing right in front of you.
Holding that image of your body in your mind,
Start to look over your body.
While you notice the feelings that start to emerge within you.
Pay particular attention when you notice aversion,
Discomfort,
Or other difficult feelings arising within you.
As you look at your own body in front of you.
Notice where you feel the most sensation,
The most difficult sensation.
Where the strongest emotions have arisen within you.
Place a hand over that spot in your body where you can pinpoint the most feeling.
Try to just be with the feeling itself.
Through your hand,
You can ask this sensation,
This emotion,
This place in your body to tell you about all the worries,
Discomforts,
Or problems you're experiencing with your body.
Just listen to whatever comes up without judgment.
Without worrying that you should or shouldn't feel this way.
Just notice what emerges.
Whatever came up,
Just acknowledge it.
Take a breath and then put it aside for now.
Through your hand,
Ask the space in your body what it is that you're really worried about.
What you really fear,
Dislike,
Or struggle with about your body.
Just trust whatever comes up.
Whatever comes up.
Whatever came up that time,
Acknowledge it.
Take a breath and then put it aside for now.
And ask this feeling,
Ask your body one last time what it really,
Really worries about.
What you really,
Really fear,
Dislike,
Or struggle with about your body.
And trust whatever comes up.
Whether it's the same or different.
Taking a breath,
I now want you to think about a time that you were content with your body.
When you remember thinking kind,
Positive things about your body or what it could do.
Perhaps it was when you were very small.
Or perhaps you even just felt okay with your body.
Just remember a time when you felt at peace with your body.
How did this feel?
What was different about the way that you treated yourself?
The way you spoke to yourself?
About the words you used to describe your body?
About the choices you made?
Now,
I'd like you to picture yourself as a child.
A child in your childhood body standing in front of you.
Picturing that child self in front of you.
How do you want that child to feel about themselves?
What do you want them to know about their body?
What do you want them to appreciate about their body?
What beauty do you want them to see in themselves?
Picture these feelings of love,
Gratitude,
Self-respect,
Peace washing over that child.
Now,
Imagine that child feels the same way about their body that you had expressed earlier.
Imagine they feel about their body the way that you do.
Imagine how that must feel for them.
Imagine them saying the same things to themselves that you say to yourself now.
And notice how it makes them feel.
Now,
Imagine that with every exhale you breathe beautiful pure white light toward that child.
And as they inhale that child breathes in the pure white light and it cleanses them.
It fills them with ease,
Love,
Peace,
And joy.
Continue to breathe this white light toward them with every exhale for a few moments.
Watching their body ease,
Lighten,
Come to a state of peace.
Thank you.
Now,
With each one of your inhales,
I want you to imagine drawing away all the sadness,
Pain,
Hurt,
Disappointment from that child in front of you in the form of dark smoke.
With each inhale you draw in more of this dark smoke.
It doesn't harm you.
You simply transform all of those negative feelings,
All of that thick black smoke within you into pure white light.
Breathe that back.
Go for a few moments like this,
Breathing in the black smoke,
Transforming it within you and breathing back pure white light.
All while maintaining that image of the child in front of you.
Noticing that with each of their exhales,
As they send you that dark black smoke,
They feel lighter and then filled with joy and peace as they inhale the pure white light.
Thank you.
Finally,
Picturing that child at ease,
Happy again,
Satisfied with themselves and loving and respectful towards their body.
Let them go,
Come back to an image of your own body in front of you.
Take a few moments to think about all the wonderful things that your body does for you.
Basically scan your body.
Think of your feet and your legs,
All the work they do to help you sit,
Stand,
Move,
To keep you balanced and stable,
To propel you,
To keep you upright whether standing or sitting down.
Send them some gratitude.
Come up to your torso,
Your spine,
The bones that give you structure within the center of your body and all the vital organs that they contain.
Heart,
Lungs,
Stomach,
Digestive system,
Think of all the incredible things going on within your torso right now to keep you alive.
To help you get energy through your day,
To pump blood through your entire body to help you breathe right now.
Send your organs,
Bones,
And everything within your torso some gratitude.
Come to your shoulders,
Your arms,
Your hands,
All the work that they do every day to type,
Text,
Prepare food,
Shake hands.
To clean you,
To help you through life's daily tasks,
Think of all the work that they do and send them some gratitude.
Come up to your neck and your head,
Think of your eyes,
Your mouth,
Your ears,
Your nose,
And all that they do to help you sense the world around you.
Your neck,
Your voice to help you speak,
To express yourself.
Think of your brain processing all the information it does every second,
Every millisecond,
Every fraction of that.
Send your head,
Neck,
And everything within it some gratitude.
Now I'd like you to take a few moments to think of a few aspects of yourself that you do love.
You can even open your eyes and scan your body or stand in front of a mirror and take an honest look at yourself and notice what catches your eye,
What attracts your eye on you.
Or you can think of some of the amazing things that your body can do that it does every day and let your attention fall here.
Something that makes you feel good about your body,
That it's capable of,
That you love and appreciate about your physical self.
Focus your attention here and notice the good feelings,
The good qualities that come up.
Sense some gratitude for these aspects or qualities about yourself.
Think of times that others have complimented you or reinforced the beauty that is within you.
Think of similar qualities that you may have admired in others,
Remembering that others admire them in you too.
Finally,
I'd like you to finish by asking yourself the question,
What do I now know?
What did I learn about myself,
About my relationship with my body,
About how I treat myself and my body today?
Think about the answer to this question as you hear the chime of the meditation bells.
At the end of the third bell,
You can open your eyes and come back to the room.
Thank you for watching!

Thank you. This was a beautiful, centring meditation. Recording was a little muffled with a bit of background noise. Consider re-recording if able, but I really enjoyed it anyway. Blessings to you!
