Hello,

This is Carrie.

And get yourself really relaxed and cozy in bed.

And I'm going to tell you a little story.

A story that can help you feel better about yourself.

Because you know what?

How you feel matters.

You are important,

Unique and special.

And at times we can doubt ourselves.

But you know what?

That's normal.

It's perfectly normal.

Everybody in this world,

I can guarantee you,

Has at least once or twice,

Maybe even more,

Doubted themselves.

And so I am here to help.

I'm here to remind you how special you really are.

And so relax.

Get cozy and comfortable in your bed.

And when those eyes are closed,

Take in a few slow,

Deep belly breaths.

That's it.

Just clear that busy mind.

And notice how the body can just begin to soften and relax.

It feels good to just lie there.

Those eyes softly closed.

And that breathing becoming slow and rhythmic.

Now this story is about Henry.

And Henry is a cute little boy with so much life and wonder and excitement.

And so when Henry wakes up in the morning,

When he jumps out of bed with those giant big toes,

He says to himself,

I'm gonna like me.

And he runs into his sister's room.

He looks at those funny braids on her head.

He smiles at her and grins and says,

I'm gonna like me today.

And she smiles and laughs too.

As Henry runs to the bathroom,

He looks in the mirror and what do you see?

There's this space in his mouth where two teeth used to be.

But Henry says,

Heck,

That's part of life.

I'm growing and two new teeth will pop right up because I am gonna like me.

And then Henry has his breakfast.

It's a wonderful breakfast.

What do you think he eats?

That sounds interesting.

But as he eats,

He thinks the whole time,

I'm gonna like me today.

I have my own style,

My own personality that makes me unique and special.

I don't have to follow someone else's style or the fads that are going on.

I'm just gonna like me.

And so when Henry gets dressed,

That's what he does.

He picks out the clothes that are his style,

What he likes.

And when he looks in the mirror,

He smiles because he likes what he sees.

And when Henry gets on that school bus and sees all his friends,

He's still gonna stay strong.

I'm gonna like me.

And as the bus pulls away and the kids are talking or laughing or even just sitting there,

He feels so brave because he knows it's okay to be nervous.

It's okay to feel unfamiliar when new things happen.

And so when he gets to school,

Henry is so curious because he knows when the teacher calls on him,

He is prepared.

He's a good listener.

He pays attention.

He cooperates and really enjoys learning.

He wants to know all his letters like the back of his hand.

And if he gets a wrong answer,

That's okay.

I'm still gonna like me.

And then when Henry has recess and plays with these new little kids,

He's gonna like himself and he's gonna share that joy with others.

And then when he sits down for lunch,

Maybe he'll share his lunch with someone else because he's made a new friend.

Henry is determined because he's gonna like you and he's gonna like me and he's gonna like himself.

In fact,

Henry likes himself so much that when he jumps high in the air or when he twists or stretches or soars like a bird,

He feels amazing.

I'm gonna like me when I'm silly,

When I'm funny,

When I'm angry,

When I'm frustrated,

When I'm joyful.

No matter how I feel,

I'm gonna like me,

Henry says.

And he does.

And when he falls and skins his elbow or maybe even when he cries,

He's still gonna like me and he's gonna like you and he's gonna like himself because everyone learns from the things that we do.

So it doesn't matter if Henry can't run fast or is the best reader in class,

Henry always focuses on,

I'm gonna like me.

And even when he's at school and he doesn't get picked for a certain team or someone isn't nice or kind to him,

That's okay because Henry is determined to like himself.

And so Henry says,

I'm gonna like me and he does.

He does all these wonderful things where he walks with a smile,

He stands tall and proud and he feels strong.

Henry is amazing.

And even when Henry isn't feeling well,

He still is gonna like himself.

And when one of Henry's friends isn't feeling well,

He always makes them a get well card just to remind them how special they are to him.

And Henry knows nobody is perfect.

We all can make mistakes.

That's how we learn.

And so one time,

Henry's mom was having a birthday party with all of her friends.

And by accident,

Henry was so excited that when they lit the candles on his mommy's cake,

He blew the candles out before his mommy could.

But then he reminded himself,

I'm still gonna like me.

And he smiled and it was okay because liking yourself is so important.

And so whenever Henry does a new task,

He says,

I'm gonna like me.

When Henry cleans in a flash,

He still knows I'm gonna like me.

And when Henry plays with his brother or sister or helps out by bringing his plate to the kitchen before asking,

He knows I'm gonna like me.

Henry,

He's a pretty good kid.

And when he cuddles at night,

Ready for bed,

So sleepy and safe,

His mom says to him,

I'm gonna like me.

And I'm gonna like you.

And we are gonna like each other.

And Henry feels so good because he knows he's loved.

And he knows that's important to like himself in the best way possible.

And so Henry lies there in bed,

Ready to end his day,

Drifting off into sweet,

Happy dreams that fill his heart,

Mind and emotions with love,

Happiness and joy.

And so sleep that wonderful,

Deep sleep knowing you're okay.

You're perfectly okay.

Safe and secure,

Calm and peaceful.

And you sleep a wonderful,

Sound sleep.

And it is so.

So that's it.

I'll see you next time.
