Finding our center in the chaos.
Come sitting comfortably or lying down.
Stillness and chaos are connected.
They fit together like a yin-yang symbol.
When there is great chaos around us,
In order to stay in balance,
We must find deep stillness.
When we are surrounded by deep stillness,
Perhaps sitting in the woods or by a lake,
Or with trusted friends,
We are free to dive deep into our chaos and heal emotional struggles and trauma.
So how do we find stillness where there is chaos all around us?
The key is to include everything.
Not to delete the chaos or hope it doesn't exist.
It's part of our whole,
And it's when we include it all in proper context that we can find the balancing stillness within.
So wherever you are,
If you're lying down or you're sitting tall,
Vision yourself sitting tall like a mountain.
Imagine that you are the stillness.
You are the great mountain,
Part of the earth,
Part of the skies,
And you are still inside.
But look around your mountain,
Almost as if there were swirling mists all around you.
This is the chaos.
This is the change.
This is the difficulty,
The challenges swirling all around your mountain.
Allow them to exist.
As you sit in your mountain,
Just fully observe all the swirling around you.
Allow it to be real.
Allow it to exist.
It's like a mother walking through a room of children,
And the children are all squealing and playing and crying and talking.
Just two,
Three year old nonsense.
She accepts the swirling.
She accepts the chaos.
And to find balance,
She finds her center as she wanders through the room.
So back in our mountain,
Allow everything to be real.
Breathe deeply.
Expand the belly as you inhale.
As you exhale,
Feel the strength of your mountain.
Feel your roots deep in the earth,
This earth that has been here for longer than we can imagine.
There is a spot in the middle of your chest where if someone said to you,
Who are you?
You would point to this spot.
This is your heart chakra.
This is the center of our stillness.
This is the heart of our mountain.
Let's breathe together into that heart center,
Into that natural stillness.
As we move through life,
We engage in the world around us.
We engage in the change,
The fear,
The chaos.
And some of it starts to swirl within us.
With every breath,
Inhale deeply from the earth.
And as you exhale,
Allow those inner swirls to join the outer swirls.
Allow them to leave you and go back to where they came from.
It is good to feel stillness.
It is good to release the chaos back out into the world where it came from.
Long deep breathing.
Feeling that stillness within.
Feeling how solid that stillness is.
How rooted.
Within this stillness is our truth.
What does your heart want to say to you?
What do you know deep in your soul?
There may be no words,
Just a feeling.
But the feeling is greater than words.
Allow your breathing to be deeper.
If any thoughts come into your mind,
Let them float out beyond the mountain and return to stillness.
Let those thoughts join their friends outside of your mountain.
Long deep breaths.
Know that we can walk this way through the world.
We desire balance.
We desire homeostasis with the world.
This is how we function optimally.
And so perhaps there are times when great chaos is a great gift.
Because in order for us to feel in balance,
We must breathe deeply,
Find that center,
Return to nature,
Remember who we really are.
Life changes all the time,
That isn't who we are.
Here in the silence is where we experience that which doesn't change,
Our soul.
That part of us that was exactly the same when we were six years old as it is right now.
Our soul witnessing and growing and experiencing everything around us.
We must remember who we are.
There's great peace here.
And we can include everything in our picture.
The chaos,
The fear,
The struggle,
Inner peace,
Happiness,
Joy.
It all fits together in a beautiful whole.
Let's take a deep breath in together and exhale.
And as we walk through our lives,
Practice feeling the silence within our mountain,
Loving everything we see,
And feeling beautiful peace and gratitude inside.
I hope you have a wonderful day.
