Welcome to The Daily Insight.
My name is Kate Horseman,
And today we are going to do a guided meditation that brings us closer to cultivating a sense of curiosity and space.
Space that may bring us closer to a sense of ease or freedom,
Or maybe just awareness.
Between stimulus and response there is a space.
In that space is our power to choose our response.
In our response lies our growth and our freedom.
These are the words by Viktor Frankl.
I'm going to take you on a guided meditation to cultivate this sense of space.
I invite you right now as you are to give yourself permission for the time,
The time to honor your inner world,
Your presence and heart just as you are right now.
Not the you that you wished you might be,
Or once were,
But just as you are in this very moment.
You are whole.
Begin exactly where you are.
What might you attend to?
This is a question you might ask.
What do you need right now to find ease?
Or maybe even some comfort in your physical body?
Maybe this might mean you can invite your body to lay down or take up space.
You,
All of you,
Are allowed to take up space.
Might you give yourself the permission to find this space?
Whatever it is that you might need to do right now to embody presence,
Your presence as it is in this moment,
With the greatest sense of purpose.
Maybe you might begin to notice the breath.
Ah,
Breath.
Thank you for continuing on without an ask.
Recycling your body with every in and every out breath.
Might we deepen our breath for just a few moments?
Perhaps focusing the attention on a more purposeful out breath.
Deepening the inhales.
And rather deepening further the out breaths.
Yes.
You could continue with this for just a few more breaths.
Now can you invite your attention to park this depth to noticing,
To just allowing the natural rhythm of your breath to happen.
Letting the rise and fall of the breath just dance upwards and downwards as it moves naturally without adjustment.
What is your body saying?
What if you begin to notice the sounds of our space right now.
The sounds of my voice.
The noises of your day.
Might you just notice them with awareness.
Or maybe even enjoyment.
As we invite curiosity in.
And we remove the judgment of distraction.
And as thoughts or commentary comes up.
We just notice them pausing.
Noting that this is okay.
The judgment isn't necessary.
We can return our awareness back to the sounds.
The breath.
And to the body.
To center us back right now.
When inquiry is alive from within.
Every statement ends with a question mark.
And not with a period.
Might you invite curiosity to be your friend today.
One that asks with kindness and an inquisitive nature as to what our world is telling us.
Might you notice where tension is in your body.
Where it might be living right now.
A gentle scan of the body to note and take inventory of where those stories.
Where the stressors.
Leaving the commentary.
And inviting the curiosity.
Can you allow yourself for this moment?
To have the permission for them to be removed.
Maybe even imagining this tension being moved through your body.
Or perhaps smoothed to softness.
Perhaps maybe this is in a few areas of your body.
Might you tend to them in the very same way.
Honoring the stress that your body may carry.
By allowing them to be placed aside for your time.
For your space.
Removing any obstacles that get in your way.
Noting that,
Might you notice how your body feels now.
Are there any contractions?
Or maybe a lack thereof.
Using a question mark.
And not a period to inquire.
Might you take that invitation.
That invitation to journey to a space in which your truest self wants to be.
A path.
Or a place in which brings yourself.
Your heart.
And all of you closer to your authenticity.
Can you notice this?
Maybe you can remember a space such as this.
And if you can't,
Might you create one.
What might you create?
That provides the space that honors every aspect of what feels to be you.
Maybe you notice the colors of this space.
Or how about even the sounds.
Or perhaps lack of sound.
Maybe attuning our senses to a full experience.
If you were to walk in this space,
What might that feel like?
Could be an emotion.
Might it be a sensation?
Maybe something your body is trying to communicate.
And just noting.
Your friend curiosity is there.
If you walked further into this space,
Opening the door to awareness.
What would that walk feel like?
There is no wrong answer.
Just your truest experience in deepening the aliveness that houses your truest self.
This is your space.
Can you be with whatever might come up for you?
Maybe a true sense of peace.
Or perhaps even longing.
There is no wrong experience.
But we can ask.
We can inquire.
We can honor ourselves by paying attention.
To the space provided.
Is there anything else you notice in this space?
Maybe there's even a smell.
Maybe there's an object.
In which ways can you tune your senses?
Defining the depth of your experience.
The colors.
The temperature.
The details that hold our lives' stories.
And what if in this space.
.
.
There was a small package.
Maybe an envelope.
Or a box.
Dressed just how you might imagine it to be.
And you inquire.
And step towards it.
And carefully begin to unwrap this gift that is meant just for you.
And you open.
And there's a word.
An intention.
That speaks to your truest essence.
Your most whole self.
Maybe this gift is a message.
A message that tends to your heart's desires.
Your soul's calling.
Something nourishing.
And forgiving.
And very kind.
This is your gift.
It could be very simple.
Or more complex.
But whatever it is.
.
.
It is yours.
And it comes from the space of your truest self.
Maybe you note what it means.
Maybe there's something that you need to tend to.
Some way of inquiring into your day-to-day life.
A way to bring this sense of ease,
Of curiosity,
Of space.
To allow your true self to come to the table.
Ah,
Yes,
All of you.
All of you are allowed.
Just as you are.
And so you place this gift away.
In a pocket.
Or on your heart.
For when you need it.
Or for when you want to gift it to someone else.
It is there for you.
Might you bring attention back.
To your breath.
However rich or small it may be.
Ah,
It continued on.
How interesting.
Thank you,
Breath.
Thank you for this gift.
For allowing this space to end with an adventure.
And not a stop.
I invite you to bring curiosity into your day.
Into your week.
And find the sense of space for your full self to be present.
You are whole.
And you are worth it.
This is your gift.
This is your moment.
