Welcome my friends.
Today we are going to learn about how yoga nidra,
Also known as yogic sleep,
Can help you.
My name is Kalyani and I have been practicing and teaching yoga and meditation for over 26 years.
Yoga Nidra is near and dear to my heart because it got me through a very difficult time in my life.
When life overwhelmed me.
When my anxiety was at an all time high and my sleep was impaired.
Yoganidra was the lifeline I needed to get through the darkness.
If it could help me at my lowest.
I have no doubt it can help you too.
And that is why I started recording my meditations.
Yoga Nidra is yogic sleep.
I've also heard it called the sleep that awakens the soul.
It's a much deeper level of relaxation than you might have experienced before.
Yoga Nidra is an efficient method of inducing complete physical,
Mental and emotional relaxation.
While we remain completely alert and aware.
It not only relaxes the mind and the body,
But it also prepares us for our spiritual evolution.
In Yoga Nidra.
We unite the mind and the body.
Many of us lead such busy lives.
That we lose touch with our mind-body connection.
We may feel completely disconnected.
And go through our day in a state of feeling separate and incomplete.
We simply go through the motions without ever pausing to assess.
How do we really feel?
A way to slow down.
And explore the subconscious mind.
While we are in a safe and comfortable state of deep relaxation.
In this space of deep relaxation,
We can allow our body to heal itself.
We can reconnect on the deepest of levels.
To be clear,
Yoga Nidra is the destination,
Not the journey.
Meaning we will use various methods of relaxing the mind and the body.
But these methods are not Yoga Nidra.
They are simply the transportation.
The vehicle to get us to our final destination of deep healing rest.
Yoga Nidra is the state of being beyond all relaxation techniques.
You can think of Yoga Nidra like a guided tour of rest and relaxation.
Where I hold your hand.
And guide you mindfully deep within.
So that you don't have to figure out the steps.
Or determine the quickest route.
All you have to do is find a location where you will not be disturbed.
Lie down in a comfortable position for your body.
And cover up.
Allow your eyes to close.
And invite your awareness to follow.
As I guide you on a tour throughout your mind and body.
You don't need any experience at all.
In fact,
The less you try,
The better your experience will be.
You cannot do it wrong.
Your only job is to ride the sound waves of my voice.
As I guide you deeper.
And deeper within.
Think of it as a way of teaching your nervous system how to rest on purpose.
So that you can feel calmer.
And more restored afterwards.
Yoga Nidra will assist you in releasing all three types of tension.
It relieves our muscular tension.
Where our muscles just can't let go of the tightness of stress.
Unable to relax and let go.
It also helps us to uncover emotional tension.
When we don't express our feelings openly and freely,
We repress them.
Resulting in tension becoming more and more deeply rooted within our physical body.
Emotional tensions cannot be removed through normal relaxation.
But Yoga Nidra helps to tranquilize the entire emotional structure of the mind.
So that we can slow the endless flow of thoughts.
Finally,
Yoga Nidra helps us to release mental tension.
Which is the result of excessive mental activity.
When we feel like we don't have enough time to even think straight.
We are experiencing mental tension.
We may get angry and blame it on our minds.
But really we are experiencing all of the old emotions we have stored within our mental body.
Instead of dealing with them.
Yoga Nidra is the science of relaxation.
That allows us to dive deep down into the realms of our subconscious mind.
And relax and release all mental tensions so that we can establish harmony in all facets of our being.
Essentially,
Stress creates imbalance.
Yoga Nidra restores that balance within.
It is the reset button for your mind and body.
Lowering cholesterol,
Blood pressure,
Heart rate,
And levels of the stress hormones,
Adrenaline and cortisol.
Many people find it's very easy to practice,
Deeply restorative.
And they notice it also helps their sleep quality.
Lastly,
Studies have shown in Yoga Nidra people begin to move out of the beta brainwaves,
Which is our waking state.
Where we focus on the external world.
And it often shifts people toward the slower,
More relaxed brain activity.
Such as delta and theta.
While we remain completely alert and aware.
So what do you have to lose?
Take some time to take care of you.
Allow my voice to be that of a trusted friend and guide.
As I lead you into deep healing rest.
Try it tonight.
And explore for yourself how you feel.
I would love to hear how it goes for you.
Rest well my friend.
