Hi there,
I'm Callie Burgant.
I'm a licensed clinical mental health counselor,
Yoga teacher,
Meditation teacher and I'm going to teach you a breath today called Kapalabhati breath.
It's a yogic breath that is aimed at activating the energy and so it's a forceful breath.
It's a forceful exhale,
Passive inhale.
I'll show you what it looks like and then you can try it on your own.
If you have any abdominal discomfort or you're menstruating,
It might be a good time to pass on this breath for today.
So I'll show you what it looks like and then you can join with me.
So you take a nice deep inhale and then a forceful exhale through the nose.
Okay,
So let's do it together.
Now you see what that looks like.
You don't have to hold your hand on your belly the way that I did.
So we'll do 10,
We'll pause and then we'll do 10 more.
Nice deep inhale and relax.
Return to your natural breath.
Sometimes you might feel it in your head,
That's normal.
You can also do this standing up if you would like to but be mindful if you tend to get lightheaded sitting or on your knees is best.
Okay and we'll go into round two.
Nice deep inhale and return to your natural breath.
If your eyes aren't closed,
Allow them to close and just take a moment to notice any energy that has shifted within.
And you can open your eyes.
Thanks for joining me today.
