Welcome to this meditation with Huan Yin,

The goddess of compassion from Chinese Buddhism.

She is said to have been a bodhisattva in India who attained enlightenment but decided to remain in a form that human beings could understand in order to help them with their journeys toward enlightenment.

If you are in pain,

Confused,

Suffering,

If you feel you need some gentle,

Loving care,

This meditation may help.

To prepare for this meditation,

You may like to light a candle and have a journal and pen handy.

When you're ready,

Settle into your seat,

Whatever it needs to look like today,

And close or soften your eyes.

Acknowledge the land that you are on and your relationship with this land.

Consider your people,

Where they are from,

What traditions you were born into.

If,

Like me,

You are not from the places where Huan Yin comes from,

Take a moment to acknowledge that there may be pieces that you and I don't understand or can't share.

But we are doing this with an intention of learning and respect,

That we come to these stories and ideas.

Now imagine with me that we are surrounded by a circle of protection.

You could imagine a circle of light,

Or salt or stones,

Whatever resonates for you.

And set the intention that this circle allows in energies of healing,

Compassion,

Witnessing,

The energy of Huan Yin.

And anything that is not in alignment with your highest good today simply stays outside of the circle.

Huan Yin is sometimes known as the goddess of mercy,

Or she who hears the cries of the world.

She listens to the prayers of anyone who is suffering.

She has often been compared to the Virgin Mary,

And has some similar iconography,

Often shown wearing flowing blue robes and holding a baby.

So imagine this powerful goddess of compassion standing before you.

Allow her to see your pain,

Your confusion,

Your anger,

Your shame,

Whatever it is that you feel.

This is a gift,

An offering to allow yourself to be seen in your vulnerability.

Here,

With your eyes closed,

Do your best to allow Huan Yin to witness you fully.

How do you feel when you acknowledge a compassionate witness to what you're going through?

Huan Yin sees your suffering.

She sees your humanity,

Your trying,

Your desire to do better.

She knows that any mistake you made,

Anything you misunderstood or got wrong or screwed up,

You did that from a place of being a human trying their best.

Let her see you,

Compassionately and clearly.

And let her shed tears with you,

Share those if your tears are coming too.

Huan Yin is not here to judge you or tell you what to do.

She is just going to feel with you.

She is just going to feel with you.

She wants to help you see the truth of your situation,

Whatever it is,

And the truth in your heart.

Let her see you.

When this feels complete for you,

Thank Huan Yin for being with you and holding you in compassionate love and care,

Whatever is going on with you.

Then take a moment to notice how you feel in your body,

How things may or may not have shifted in this experience of being witnessed.

Thank your circle,

The land,

And anything or anyone else you'd like to offer gratitude towards.

Your meditation with Huan Yin is complete.
