Kindness to a neutral person so let's begin this practice by getting connected with the breath and the body and spending a few moments offering kindness to yourself and a dear person being open to all of you experience just as it is noticing thoughts emotions physical sensations and now I invite you to connect with a person who you consider neutral although it's quite unusual to feel exactly neutral towards others as when we look at them more closely subtle sympathetic or antipathetic feelings for often arise so we're just choosing a person we don't know very well and feel impartial towards such as somebody you just happen to meet or with whom you have no special relationship a passerby in your life perhaps somebody you saw in a shop on the street or waiting next to you for the traffic lights if you have found a neutral person you may imagine this person in front of you realizing he or she is just like you a human being wishing for happiness and vulnerable to suffering and then gently begin to repeat wishes of kindness to that person may you feel safe happy at ease maybe on the rhythm of the breath or independently from it mindfully observing what happens while you're practicing you can gradually include other people or animals from this neutral category and it's not about doing this practice with as many neutral beings as you can think of it is about cultivating the sensitive heart to others whom you have no particular relationship with but who somehow cross your path and if you notice you encounter inner difficulties or your mind keeps drifting off getting lost you can always return to self compassion and then return to neutral others when you feel space to do so feel free to include more beings in this practice and then bring meditation to a close when you're ready or on the sound of the bell
