Flower of Life Meditation,
A meditation to explore interconnectivity and to help ease isolation,
Sadness and loneliness.
Begin by allowing yourself to be in a comfortable position,
Maybe that's sitting in a chair or lying back.
Allow yourself to take time and allow your body to feel completely supported,
Completely at ease.
As we move through this meditation,
Give yourself permission to allow the meditation to evolve to invite in any aspects that feel right and safe and to be curious about what's offered.
When you're ready,
Invite yourself to take a deep breath in and as you exhale allow your body to soften just a little bit more into the support beneath you or all around you.
Taking a deep breath in and as you exhale allowing yourself to sense into all the support beneath you and all around your body.
Notice how you breathe and perhaps how each breath brings you closer to sensing into aspects of feeling grounded and connected to the earth beneath you.
And how with each inhale perhaps you can feel the inner expansion of your body and with each exhale perhaps you can feel a deeper release into the earth and the ground beneath you.
This is your space in your meditation to observe and be curious and to simply be as you are.
There's no expectation,
Just an invitation to notice what's here for you in each moment.
Continue to be aware of your breath moving into your body.
As well as your breath moving out of your body.
In this space you're invited to explore not just your breath and body but also the connections that exist within and around you.
Just as your breath moves in and out of your body,
Expanding and contracting,
So too does the world move in a sort of rhythm and pattern of interconnection.
Perhaps in this meditation that sense of interconnection,
The aspect of being part of a larger whole,
May be something you could become a little bit more aware of,
A little bit more closer to,
A little bit more safe in noticing in each and every moment.
In this moment I invite you to take another breath and sense how the body and the breath are already interconnected.
Each breath that moves into the body allows for and creates a gentle rhythm that supports your body,
Just as the earth beneath you supports your body.
The breath moving into your body has a sort of rhythm that can help guide you as we move into the meditation,
Allow you to explore both the inner sensations and the outer physical aspects as well as interconnectivity within the world.
With each breath moving into the body and out of the body,
Allow yourself to continue settling in a little bit more deeply into this feeling of connection,
Connection between your body,
Your breath,
And the support that holds you.
And as we begin our meditation,
Know that you can return to this moment,
This awareness,
At any time throughout the meditation.
The breath that moves into the body,
The support beneath the body,
And the connection between your body and the ground or the earth and the surface beneath you,
These aspects are always available to you.
And if you wish,
You can allow them to be your anchor as we move into and explore connection in this meditation.
Allow yourself to take another breath into the body.
And when you're ready to exhale,
Be curious and feel into the weight of your body resting on the ground or the surface beneath you.
Notice how the body responds to the breath,
How with each inhale there's a gentle expansion,
Or with each exhale a sense of release.
You might notice subtle sensations.
Perhaps that's the warmth or the coolness of your body.
Perhaps that's the sensation of the air on your skin.
These feelings and sensations can be your guide.
As you continue to breathe,
Allow yourself to become curious about what your body is telling you.
There's no need to judge,
There's no need to analyze,
Just inviting a sense of curiosity.
In this moment,
Notice how your breath interacts with the rest of your body.
Maybe that's the rise of the breath as it moves into your chest.
Maybe that's the gentle movement of the breath moving into your belly.
Maybe that's the sensation of your back connected and pressing into the surface beneath you.
You're invited to be curious around and explore these sensations just with a sense of openness,
Knowing that whatever you find is welcome.
There's no right way,
There's no wrong way.
It's just an experience.
Only that which is true for you right now in this moment.
As you continue sensing into and exploring this sensation of expansion with the breath and the body,
Just as the breath flows in,
Just as the breath flows out,
So too does life with moments of connection and moments of separation,
Moments of expansion,
Moments of rest.
In this meditation,
We'll explore these sort of rhythms,
Inviting you to sense deeper connections that are always present,
Even when they may not seem or feel visible.
With each breath,
You may begin to feel how this connection is already present within you.
How the body and the breath are part of a larger whole.
Let your breath and your body be your guide as we begin to explore these patterns of life and connection.
I'm going to begin offering a visualization of something called the flower of life.
When you're ready,
Begin to gently bring imagery of the flower of life into your mind's eye.
You can begin by picturing one perfect circle floating softly in front of you.
Notice how smooth and complete the circle feels.
There's no need to rush or force any imagery.
Just continue to allow it to appear as it feels right for you in each and every moment.
As you breathe in,
Imagine the air filling this circle,
Expanding it gently.
And as you exhale,
Feel the circle becoming even clearer.
Its edges soft but fully defined.
With each breath,
More circles begin to emerge,
Overlapping and connecting with one another.
Allow the imagery to unfold naturally,
Allowing each new circle to find its place beside the others.
Notice how they interlock and create a sort of harmonious and balanced pattern.
There's no need to hurry.
Take your time,
Knowing that the imagery will come together in its own time.
If at any point the image feels unclear or distant,
Simply return to your breath.
You may notice how with each inhale the pattern becomes more vivid,
And with each exhale your body feels more supported by the ground.
Trust that the image will reveal itself at your own pace.
If it feels difficult,
That's okay too.
Just breathe.
Allow whatever you see to be enough for right now,
In the moment.
You might notice that as the circles continue to form,
They create similar shapes within their overlap,
Resembling delicate flowers.
These shapes are part of the larger design,
Each one connected to the next.
The flower of life is an ancient symbol,
And it's found in many cultures across the world.
Just as the circles of the flower of life are interconnected,
So too are we connected to the world around us,
To the people,
To the experiences that we encounter in each and every moment.
Even when we might not feel that interconnection,
We might feel a sense of separation or distance.
The pattern of the flower of life reminds us that we're part of something greater.
The flower of life has been a symbol of the fundamental patterns of life,
And a reminder of how everything in existence is interconnected.
In your own time,
Take a moment to observe the way the circles weave together.
Feel the balance within the imagery,
And allow the balance to echo within your own body.
Notice how every part of the pattern supports the others.
Even if the pattern doesn't feel fully clear,
Can you trust that it's forming in its own way,
Just as life unfolds in its own rhythm?
And with each breath,
Allow the image to grow a little more clear,
Knowing that the connection it represents is always present,
Even when you may not always sense into and see it clearly.
As the imagery of the flower in the life continues to be more clear within your mind,
Can you be curious to notice how it feels to sense into connection in this way?
At times,
Life can feel heavy,
Distant,
As though you might be separate from the world around you.
This is a natural feeling,
One that everyone experiences at different points in their life.
Yet just like the circles and the flower of life,
There's room for these feelings to coexist within the larger pattern.
If you feel any sensations arising,
Whether it's tension or perhaps vulnerability or sadness,
Know that this space can hold all of your experiences.
Just as the circles support one another,
You're supported in this moment.
Allow yourself to gently acknowledge any emotions or sensations that may arise,
Knowing that in this moment it's okay to feel them fully and notice them just as they are.
Now as you continue to sit with and feel into the imagery of the flower of life,
You might begin to notice how it feels to acknowledge the connections that exist all around you.
And again,
There may be moments when you feel a sense of being distant or separate,
As if a sort of veil rests between you and the world.
And these feelings are completely natural and part of the human experience.
It's okay to feel this way.
In this moment,
You don't need to change or fix anything.
Just as the flower of life holds its interconnected circles,
This space can hold all that you're experiencing.
You're invited to sit with any feelings that arise,
Whether they hold a sense of openness,
Vulnerability,
Or curiosity.
Take a moment now to bring your awareness to your body.
Notice if there are any sensations that are calling your attention.
That might be a sense of balance,
That might be a sense of tightness or heaviness.
Perhaps it's even sensations of lightness or ease.
Notice whatever is present,
Simply allowing it to be without judgment.
You're held in the space just as the flower of life holds each of its circles in perfect harmony.
If at any point,
The sensations feel heavy or difficult,
Gently return to your breath.
With each inhale,
Feel the air as if any tension,
The mood,
That moves with the breath,
Can move into the ground beneath you.
With each inhale,
Continue to feel the air move into your lungs,
Bringing a sense of expansion.
As you exhale,
Feel the air move into your lungs,
Bringing a sense of expansion.
Invite in a sense of softening.
There's no need to change what you're feeling.
Simply acknowledge it as it is,
And knowing that in this moment,
You're safe.
In this moment,
Allow yourself to gently sense into the sensations in your body and the support beneath your body.
As you breathe,
Feel how the ground holds you completely and fully,
Allowing you to ease into its support and its safety.
Each breath is an invitation to sense into connection.
Each breath offers an opportunity to release any weight,
Any tension,
You no longer need that is not supporting you.
Allow yourself to take some time and explore how your body feels in this moment.
Just as the circles of the flower of life are woven together in harmony and balance,
You too are held in this space.
There's no need to force anything or hurry anything.
With each breath,
You can choose where to rest your attention.
Whether on the rise and the fall of your chest,
The sensation of your body on the ground,
Or the images of the flower of life unfolding in your mind,
Each space offers support in its own way.
And as you continue to observe the flower of life and feel your breath moving through and into your body,
What would it be like to invite a sense of self-compassion?
There might be moments when you feel distant,
And in those moments,
It's important to offer yourself care and kindness.
What would it feel like to offer yourself the same kind of care and kindness that you might offer to a close friend or family member?
If it feels right and safe,
You can even place a hand on your heart,
Acknowledging the sense of support that you deserve.
And as you continue to breathe,
Allow your awareness to gently move between the feeling of the breath moving into the body,
The imagery of the flower of life unfolding in your mind,
Feeling of the breath moving into the body,
The imagery of the flower of life,
That sense of self-compassion.
With each inhale,
You might notice the flower of life becoming clear,
A symbol of interconnection,
And with each exhale,
Return to your body,
Noticing the gentle rise and fall of your chest,
The weight of your body resting on the ground,
The gentle movement between the flower of life and the sensations in your body,
As a sort of soft flow.
Allow you to find balance between interconnection,
Self-compassion,
And support.
In this moment,
Know that you're deserving of this kindness and this care.
And even in moments of distance or tension,
You're worthy of gentleness.
Allow this compassion to move through your body with each breath,
Softening any areas of tension,
The flower of life in your mind,
Reminding you of your place within the greater whole.
And just as the circles support each other,
You are supported in this moment.
And as you continue to rest in the space,
Allow yourself to feel the connection between your breath,
Your body,
And the support beneath you,
Allowing the flower of life to continue evolving,
Softening,
And balancing in your mind.
Noticing how its circles interweave in a continuous pattern of interconnection.
And as you hold this imagery in your mind's eye,
Take a moment to observe its details.
How do the circles meet?
How do the circles overlap?
What shapes begin to form in the spaces where they touch?
With each breath in,
Imagine the flower of life expanding.
And with each breath out,
Feel the sensation of your body resting on the ground.
Notice how your awareness can gently flow between these two places.
Notice the image of the flower of life in your mind,
The physical sensations of your body.
There's no need to rush.
Take your time and notice how the circles of life might reflect the connections in your own life,
Each part influencing the others,
Yet all held together in balance.
What would it be like to ask yourself,
Where in my life do I feel these connections?
How do my experiences and relationships weave together like the circles in the pattern of the flower of life?
Can you lean into the flower of life?
Into exploration of this?
Can you notice what arises for you?
You might observe different emotions,
Different thoughts,
And different emotions,
Different thoughts might come to the surface of your awareness.
Whether it's feelings of valid support or confusion and disconnection,
Or even memories of relationships that felt important to you.
Anything that arises in the moment is an invitation to be curious around and explore.
Allow yourself to simply observe these without judgment.
Like the flower of life,
Your experiences are part of a larger pattern.
A pattern of interconnection to a greater whole.
Now gently shift your awareness and your attention.
And in your own time,
Gently bring your attention back to your body.
And notice the rise and fall of your chest as you breathe.
The feeling of the ground beneath you.
Explore the sensations in your body.
Slowly moving your attention slowly from one area to the next.
What do you feel and notice in your chest?
What do you feel and notice in your shoulders?
What do you feel and notice in your arms and your hands?
What do you feel and notice in your belly?
Allow yourself to stay with each sensation,
Allow yourself to stay with each sensation.
Wherever it might arise,
Exploring how your body holds these feelings.
Much like the circles and the flower of life hold their place within the whole.
Move between noticing the flower of life in your mind's eye,
In your body.
And begin to sense how everything is interconnection.
As this aspect of interconnectivity.
How your body,
The breath,
And emotions are part of this larger web of connection.
Each breath offers an opportunity to explore a little bit more deeply.
To notice how the image of the flower of life and the sensations in your body mirror each other.
How do these connections feel in your body?
Is there a sense of connection?
How do these connections feel in your body?
Is there a sense of lightness?
Is there a sense of heaviness?
Is there a sense of tension?
Is there a sense of ease?
Explore these sensations with curiosity and allow each breath to guide your awareness.
Take your time.
With each breath,
You might feel the flower of life becoming more intricate.
Its circles weaving together in perfect harmony.
And as you exhale,
Feel how your body is held by the ground.
You don't need to focus on any one thing.
Simply allow your awareness to move softly between the imagery and your body.
Trusting that you're always so close to your body and your mind.
Between the imagery and your body.
Trusting that you're always supported in the process.
If at any point you feel overwhelmed or uncertain,
Know that you can always return to the sensation of your breath.
Feel the air as it moves in and out of your lungs.
Bringing you back to a place of ease.
There's no need to force anything here in this moment.
Just as the circles and the flower of life come together completely naturally,
Completely naturally,
Allow your awareness to shift at its own pace.
Trusting in the gentle rhythm of your breath.
As you're ready,
Take a moment to notice what has surfaced for you within this practice.
Perhaps there were moments when you felt a sense of connection and interconnectivity.
Or times when feelings of distance or separation became more present.
Whatever arose was welcome in the moment.
It's all part of your experience in each and every moment.
As you allow yourself to sit with sensations,
Feelings,
Thoughts that arose within the practice.
Knowing that they're simply offerings of your journey.
As you consider these offerings,
What would it be like to explore a small shift within your own life?
That could help nurture a deeper sense of connection and interconnectivity.
This could be tiny and small.
This could be subtle.
Whatever it is.
Perhaps something as simple as offering yourself a moment of kindness.
Perhaps it's acknowledging the emotions that came to the surface within the practice.
Maybe it's allowing yourself time to rest.
Maybe it's taking a breath and feel that breath as nourishment.
Maybe it's inviting a sense of gentleness into your day.
Notice how the suggestion and the offering of making a small shift.
Notice how that feels within your body.
Does it bring a sense of ease?
Perhaps a feeling of soft anticipation.
Take a moment to explore the sensations that arise.
You might notice areas of your body beginning to soften.
Or perhaps the lightness or tension.
Whatever is present,
Let it be part of your experience without needing to change it or fix it.
Every sensation,
Every thought is part of the larger whole that you're exploring.
Each gentle shift,
No matter how subtle,
Can create a ripple of connections in your life.
Just as the circles of the flower of life weave together to create something whole,
These small shifts can weave into the larger pattern of your relationships,
Your feelings,
And your sense of self.
Allow yourself to take a moment to sit with this.
Allow yourself to explore how even the smallest change can contribute to your sense of belonging,
Ease,
And connection.
Trust in the natural unfolding of the process.
And there's no rush.
There's no need to force anything.
Whether you feel ready to welcome a gentle shift in this moment,
Or if you'd like to simply sit with the reflections that have been offered.
You're already nurturing a sense of connection within yourself.
The flower of life reminds us that even the smallest shift contributes to the greater whole,
Just as each circle and its pattern adds to the overall design.
As you've moved through this exploration,
You may have noticed moments of clarity,
Moments of reflection,
And perhaps moments where a deeper sense of connection began to emerge.
Can you take a moment to feel into the value of what has come up for you during this practice?
Can you take a moment to feel into the value of what has come up for you during this practice?
Whether it feels light and easy,
Or even if it brought forward emotions that asked for your attention.
Can the value be that of courage and gratitude?
Even appreciation,
If that feels right.
What would it be like to allow your awareness,
To expand and open to a vision of what connection might look like in your life?
Imagine what it would feel like to experience a deeper,
More consistent sense of connection.
With yourself,
With others,
With nature,
With the world all around you.
Whatever it might be,
Take your time.
There's no rush towards a specific outcome.
Let yourself sit with the feeling of what it might be like to feel truly in tune with yourself,
Truly aware of your thoughts,
Truly notice sensations in your body,
Truly aware of your emotions.
What would that feel like?
What would it look like to feel more connected to the people around you,
Or to the larger rhythms of nature?
Perhaps small glimpses and imagery of this future,
Or any of these aspects unfolding,
Might come into your awareness.
Perhaps there's a sense of ease or even peace that might come into the mind.
Maybe it's a feeling of being fully present or of finding moments of joy in your connections with others.
There's no right way and there's no wrong way to envision any aspects that are being offered.
Simply let your awareness rest on what feels most true for you in this moment.
And as you invite in or hold any imagery in your mind's eye,
Continue to notice any small steps that might come into focus.
And allow these to continue to build and grow and become more and more clear within your mind's eye,
Just as the flower of life continued to become more and more clear through imagery in your mind's eye.
Through imagery in your mind's eye.
As you explore these possibilities,
Continue to feel and be aware of a web of connection that holds you in each and every moment.
This connection and interconnectivity is always possible.
Allow yourself to rest in this space.
Continue feeling into and noticing any aspects and steps that you might want to become more and more aware of as you sense into and notice possibilities of expansion and interconnectivity within your own life.
As you hold these visions of connection and interconnectivity and possibilities for yourself in the future,
Remember that even in moments when you feel separate or distant,
You're always worthy of being seen.
Being valued and being connected.
You may wish to continue to allow the imagery of the flower of life to remind you of your place within the larger picture of your life.
You may wish to continue to allow the imagery of the flower of life to remind you of your place within the larger web of life.
Just as each circle in the flower of life contributes to the whole,
So too do you have a place within this greater pattern,
In this greater whole.
Take a moment to reflect on this offering of being worthy and belonging to a greater whole.
Notice what arises when you bring your awareness to the idea and the offering that you inherently deserve connection.
You don't need to earn it.
And it's not something that can be taken away.
It's simply a part of who you are.
It's woven into the fabric of your being.
Just as you are woven into the fabric of life,
As you breathe,
Allow the sense of belonging to flow through you.
With each inhale,
Feel a deeper connection to yourself,
The world around you.
With each exhale,
Allow any doubt or uncertainty to fade away.
Allow yourself to settle more fully,
Resting into the truth that you're always connected.
And if at any point you notice feelings of separation or unworthiness arising,
Gently bring your awareness to the awareness that you are connected.
Bring your awareness back to your breath.
Feel into the rise and the fall of your chest,
The solid ground beneath your body,
And the support of the present moment.
Know that even in those moments when it feels difficult to connect,
You're still part of the larger web,
Always held.
Always supported.
Let the imagery of the flower of life remind you of this truth.
Each circle is part of the whole,
Just as you are.
You don't need to be anything other than who you are to belong to this wholeness.
Take your time here.
Allowing the sense of worthiness to grow with each breath.
Knowing that you're always deserving of connection,
Just as you are.
Just as you are.
As we begin to gently bring this practice to a close,
I invite you to take a moment to notice what you've offered yourself during this time.
Whether it was creating space for reflection,
Or noticing moments of interconnection or connectivity,
Or simply allowing yourself to be present with whatever arose.
Know that everything you've experienced is welcome.
And there's no right or wrong way to go through this process.
Whatever came up for you,
Whether ease,
Whether challenge,
Or even something in between,
Trust that it was enough.
Exactly as it was.
The time and attention you've given yourself in this moment is compassion.
As you carry this experience with you into the rest of your day,
Perhaps you'll notice subtle moments of connection continuing to unfold.
These moments might arrive quietly.
Perhaps in the way you notice your breath,
Perhaps in the way you notice your breath,
Perhaps in the way you notice your breath,
Perhaps in a gentle exchange of words with another person,
Perhaps in a brief pause of stillness.
These moments don't need to be large or noticeable.
Often connection appears in the quieter spaces.
In the pauses between activity and action.
And in the small acts and spaces of awareness.
Let yourself be open to these moments.
Knowing that they are part of a larger web of connection that holds you in each and every moment,
Even when it feels distant.
You may find yourself reflecting on any insights or shifts that emerge during the practice.
Perhaps there was a moment where you felt more attuned to yourself.
Or maybe a gentle sense of relief or clarity came into your mind's eye.
Whenever it came forward for you in this meditation,
Whenever it came forward for you in this meditation,
I trust that is part of your unique process.
A process that will continue to unfold gently,
Even after this meditation has ended.
There's no need to rush or analyze.
Just allow yourself to move softly with whatever unfolds.
Trusting that it will support you in its own way,
Even when it isn't immediately visible.
And as you move forward into the rest of your day,
Know that the same sense of grounding and connection you've cultivated here in this meditation is always available to you.
Whether that's through a simple breath,
A brief moment of reflection,
Or through the reminder of your place within something larger.
Connection is always accessible.
Even in moments when it feels far away,
The threads of connection remain present.
Weaving quietly through your experience,
Holding you with care,
No matter what arises.
