Hey there and welcome to this mantra meditation of Amitabha.
Amitabha is the name of the Buddha of compassion and means infinite light.
What is this light about?
Showing compassion for others and ourself might not be that easy as we are told.
Because we have plenty of emotions that may distract our compassion.
They are our needs,
Fears,
Wishes.
We are human,
So our mind keeps talking.
This is its nature.
But though it might feel tough,
Compassion starts to heal our heart,
So we can feel it for each and every being out there.
The more we cultivate it,
The more we can handle emotions like fear or anger.
They won't and shouldn't disappear,
But they will fall into place.
Amitabha can help us to connect with this infinite light that shines into every corner.
Let's start the meditation of Amitabha.
At the beginning,
Please make sure that you won't get interrupted by a phone call or a ringing bell.
And a comfortable seat.
Your spine should be long and upward,
Soft and gentle,
So you can breathe freely.
Let your hands sink down,
The left hand in your right hand.
When you feel ready,
Gently close your eyes.
We begin with three deep breaths to invite some relaxation into our body.
Breathing into the nose and out through the mouth.
Breathing into the nose.
Let the breath travel through your chest,
Into your belly and out through your mouth.
And one last time,
Take a deep breath into the nose,
Filling your lungs with fresh air.
Hold it for a second.
Take another zip of delicious air and let it flow out through your mouth.
Allow your breath to find its own rhythm.
Don't force anything.
Just relax your shoulders and jaw,
So your breath can find its way.
Feel your connection to the ground.
You are carried and safe on this earth.
With the next inhalation,
You start to repeat the name Amitabha in your mind and Amitabha when you exhale.
With every inhalation,
You invite Amitabha by repeating the name and with every exhalation,
You share Amitabha.
Amitabha and Amitabha.
Try to focus on it for a few circles of breath.
When you recognize that your mind starts to wander,
Just bring your attention back to the meditation.
It is no problem.
You are allowed to feel compassion for yourself.
Amitabha,
Amitabha,
Amitabha.
Feel the compassion in your heart.
Maybe you can sense some warmth or whiteness in your chest.
Or maybe there is a soft smile on your face.
With each and every breath,
You fill yourself with compassion and you share it as the source of light.
Keep repeating Amitabha.
Your mind might want to travel but you are allowed to stay focused on the feeling of compassion.
Enjoy some more circles of the Amitabha-breath connection.
To bring this meditation to an end,
Let Amitabha go.
Just like you open the hand,
Knowing it is part of you.
Deepen your breath.
Before you open your eyes,
Bring your palms together in front of your heart.
And if it feels right for you,
You can repeat after me.
May all beings everywhere be healthy.
May all beings everywhere be happy.
May all beings everywhere live in peace.
Amitabha.
